General Notes | How can you look at this face and not fall in love?! Holly is making it from Houston, TX, to Colorado with the hopes of finding her forever family! Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Holly is your typical puppy - play, sleep, potty, play, repeat! She is sweet, fluffy, cute, and so much fun. Holly is the shyest from her litter and gets timid meeting new people. It doesn't take her long to warm up and then she turns into the sweetest, most playful, spunky girl! She will gaze at you with the most loving and trusting eyes once you earn her trust! Australian shepherd are an extremely loyal and intelligent breed, so you will earn a friend for life if you adopt this sweet girl!  Story | Holly and her six siblings were rescued in Dallas, Texas, and have been growing and learning in a foster home! They couldn't be more excited about life in Colorado and their forever families! We're not sure what her breed mix is, but her foster mom thinks she might be mixed with Lab and Australian Shepherd! Other Dogs | Holly does wonderfully with other dogs, and is learning to follow cues, and taking it day by day! She is being fostered with an older, grumpy lab and is learning to respect his cues when he doesn't want to play.  Cats | Holly is being fostered with a kitty and doing well! So far she's been respectful of the kitty, gives him plenty of space and doesn't chase him. Children | Holly would do great with a family with kiddos. She likes children and would be happy to grow up and play with them.  Training | Holly is working on crate training, potty training and learning basic commands! She's still a puppy and will need continued training. She sleeps through the night with her sister from 10pm-6am. Her preferred napping spot is the hard floor right next to your feet or under the coffee table, probably so she can keep cool under all that fluff! She also likes to find all the little nooks in your home and nap in her new-found "cave." Her foster parents think crate training will be a breeze since she already loves napping in "dens." Leash | Holly hasn't started leash walking yet, but will soon!  Activity Level | Moderate/high. Holly loves to play and chase her foster dog sister around! She's still a good napper though and is good about rotating between naps and play time! Holly doesn't seem quite as energetic as a typical Australian Shepherd, but would still benefit from an active home. She may make a wonderful running and hiking partner once she's older!  Health Notes | Healthy and happy!  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | Chance is gorgeous, goofy, and golden inside and out—and all he wants is to be someone’s “forever dog.” Bonus: he’s already proven he knows how to find good people... now he’s just waiting for his people to find him.. Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Chance is pure sunshine on four legs. He is the full package (and full of green flags!): ✅ Great with kids ✅ Dog-friendly ✅ Up-to-date on vaccines ✅ Expert tail-wagger ✅ Professional treat (and now couch!) enthusiast Story | This handsome, 67-pound lovebug was found seeking shelter from a Texas storm and clearly has excellent instincts—not just for weather, but for people. He showed up on a residential porch hoping for a brief respite from the weather (and journey - as his paws told us he had been walking for awhile!), and a kind-hearted good Samaritan nearby took him in and reached out to us. And now this sweet soul is ready for his forever fam in Colorado! Other Dogs | His friendly, easygoing nature makes him a great match for other playful or tolerant pups. As with any new introduction, a slow and supervised meet-and-greet is recommended—but overall, Chance is a well-mannered, happy companion to canine friends. Cats | Chance hasn’t had extensive exposure to cats, so we’re not entirely sure how he’d do long-term with feline friends. Children | Chance is wonderful with children! He’s gentle, friendly, and loves being part of the action. Whether it’s backyard games, lounging during storytime, or soaking up attention from little ones, he fits right in. Due to his size and youthful energy, supervision around small children is recommended—mostly so he doesn’t accidentally knock over his tiny fans in a moment of enthusiasm! Training | Chance is a smart cookie and eager to please! He’s already picking up on basic commands and thrives with positive reinforcement. While he’s still learning the ropes when it comes to structure and routine (think: crate time, sit, wait), he’s a quick study and highly motivated—especially if treats or praise are involved. Continued training will help him blossom into the well-mannered companion he’s destined to be. Leash | Chance walks well on a leash for a young pup who likely didn’t have much prior training. He’s eager to explore and occasionally forgets he’s not the one taking you for a walk—but with consistency and encouragement, he's improving quickly. He responds well to direction and checks in often, which makes him a great candidate for continued leash manners training. Activity Level | He’s young, eager to please, and still working through his zoomies (got energy? So does he!). But give him a backyard, some belly rubs, and a tennis ball or three, and he’ll give you loyalty for life. Health Notes | Thanks to the kind and compassionate team at Forrest Crossing Animal Hospital in Texas, I am healthy, and up to date with all of my vaccines! Thank you! |  Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | Sweet spunky Tootsie is the world's most adorable pug mix! This teeny gal couldn't be more sassy, silly, or endearing! Tootsie recently made her way to Colorado from Texas with her mama and sibling! Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Tootsie is sweet, bouncy, and absolutely adorable. As a pug mix, she is equal parts snuggle bug and pocket pal, and sassy fun!  Story | Tootsie and her mama and brother were rescued from the streets of Texas, and recently made their way to Colorado!  Other Dogs | Tootsie is great with other dogs, but is still teeny tiny! She needs safe introductions to make it comfortable for her to greet other pups.  Cats | Tootsie has not been cat tested, but it is assumed she would do well due to her age and wonderful temperament.  Children | Toostie would do well with kiddos, but needs gentle kiddos since she is still so small. She loves little people and would love to have siblings! Training | Tootsie is working on her potty training day by day! She follows her mama's lead, which is awesome! Leash | Tootsie is too little to walk on a leash currently, but she will learn as she grows!  Activity Level | Low to moderate - she is your typical puppy, but a total pocket pal!  Health Notes | Healthy as can be! Thank you! |    Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | Perfect Piper is super excited to play a game of tug and then cuddle up on the couch to watch the next episode of White Lotus (can you guess who her favorite character is?)! Don't worry, this Piper will eat all her kibble even if it isn't organic! Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | This little lover is all cuddles and play and is ready to explore Colorado with her new family! Piper's favorite activity is chewing on a toy in her foster parents laps! She can get timid in new situations and seems to be a more submissive girl. She wasn't timid when it came to jumping into her new foster families laps immediately for cuddles though! Adding to her charm are her frequent "zoomies," where she sprints through the house squeaking her squeakiest toy! Story | Piper came from an oops litter and found herself at a shelter in Colorado Springs. All her siblings were adopted leaving her all by herself. Fortunately, MHLM stepped in so she didn't have to spend another day in a lonely kennel!  Other Dogs | Piper is great with other dogs! She is being fostered with an older lab and learning to follow his cues!  Cats | Piper is being fostered with a kitty and doing well! She's been very respectful of the kitty so far and gives him plenty of space. So far no kitty chasing seen! Children | Piper isn't being fostered with children but would most likely do great with kind, respectful children due to her sweet personality and young age. She has shown herself to be an extremely gentle, loving girl! She hasn't had any of the typical "puppy biting"  tendencies that lab babies usually have at her age so her foster parents think she would be wonderful with children.  Training | Piper is a puppy just starting to learn about crate training, potty training and basic commands! She did great sleeping in a crate by her foster parents bed overnight! She got a little scared a few times, but went back to sleep quickly when her foster mom put her fingers in the crate to show her she was nearby! She would definitely prefer to sleep as close to her humans as possible until she learns the world is safe outside the shelter! She hasn't had a single accident inside either which continues to AMAZE her foster parents given how young she is!  Leash | Piper went on her first walk this week and did well. She's still a little hesitant about having a rope connected to her, but is learning to be more comfortable with it and learning that it means she gets to go outside with her people! Activity Level | Moderate. She's a classic puppy who likes to play, nap, repeat! Piper also LOVES toys and has been good at occupying herself with toys. She likes to hop and wiggle around with a toy in her mouth, the squeakier the better! Her favorite right now is a super squeaky pig toy.  🐷  Health Notes | Piper is a lanky, lean puppy and is already pretty big for her age. Her foster parents think she's either a few weeks older than her age estimate or she will be a bigger girl when she's fully grown! Her shelter paperwork listed her as a lab/rottie mix, but her foster parents aren't convinced she has much rottie in her with how lanky she is and how big and floppy her ears are! Age and breed estimates can get a little fuzzy at shelters, unfortunately. Whatever she's mixed with was the perfect recipe to cook up the most wonderful, loving puppy! Her foster mom is smitten with her! :)   Thank you! |  Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. She's happy to play, happy to rest - truly, she is just happy!  Story | Minnie was found in the back of a trailer by a good citizen in Dallas, TX. She is respectful, happy to hang out and relax, and happy to jump into puppy play mode as other dogs around her allow.  Cats | Minnie has met one kitty and did extremely well! General Notes | Purebred perfection is what Indy is! Looking for an adventurous spirit to join your next expedition? Indy, a handsome one-year-old black Lab, is ready to be your ultimate companion on every exciting journey! Like his namesake (and the beach he was dumped on), he's curious, brave, and always up for an adventure, promising to bring thrilling discoveries and boundless love to your home. Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Sweet, goofy, happy, and adoring! Story | Indy was dumped at a beach in Galveston, TX, and was left running around, confused and looking for his family. He was found by a good samaritan who took him to a vet, and it was discovered he is purebred and was registered to a negligent/illegitimate breeder, who had too many dogs and wouldn't take him. Now this sweet boy is headed for the good life in CO! Other Dogs | This guy LOVES to play and is great with other dogs! He is still young, and is learning cues, but would do well with a doggy sibling! Cats | Indy has not been cat tested.  Children | Indy loves ALL people, and is learning his manners. He is a pocket pal and would happily be in your lap if you let him! He will need to learn boundaries with younger children.  Training | In progress - this sweet guy is all joy and wiggles, and will be a quick learned! Leash | Good on a leash, pulls a bit when excited, but overall, walks well and is happy, wagging his tail as he walks! Activity Level | Moderate to high activity level - this sweet boy is a typical goofy lab! Health Notes |  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | Who's the sweetest little treat in the whole hive? It's sweet Honey girl, and she's ready to fill your life with warmth and joy! Just like the most perfect honey, this little lady is pure gold – good with dogs, great with cats, and already a pro at being potty trained. After a humble start born out in the woods of rural Texas, she's absolutely buzzing with excitement to find her forever home right here in Colorado! Is your heart ready to be her honey pot? Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Honey is a bit timid and shy at first, but settles in and is very loving. She LOVES to play with other dogs, but gets timid around new people. She is still adjusting to the big world around her after growing up outside in rural Texas! She's a petite little girl, 29 lbs when she was almost 6 months old, and hasn't grown much in the month she's been in her foster home! Her foster mom think she'll be done growing when she's around 40-50 lbs on the high end.  Story | Honey and her sister Aster were found off of a rural county road with their mama in Grapeland, Texas. Mama had been dumped and had given birth, somehow surviving off of food and kindness supplied by the community with these two little loves. At around 3 months of age, local good samiaritans trapped the girls and brought them home to show them the good life. While trying to trap Honey, the family found a colony of bees in the trap and the name "Honey" was decided for this girl! She's so sweet, she's attracted a colony of bees! Both girls have slowly acclimated to living in a home with dogs and cats, and have been so lucky to grow and adjust to getting love and affection by their wonderful fosters! Now it's time for make their biggest trek yet - to find their forever families in Colorado! Other Dogs | Both girls are great with other dogs and are playful but respectful of them in their foster home. Honey is being fostered with a young dog around the same age as her and they're having a blast cuddling, wresting and chasing each other! She is also being fostered an older, grumpy dog who she adores and has been respectful and given him space. Honey finds her confidence around other dogs and would strongly prefer to go to home with another dog in the home.  Cats | Honey is cat tested and cat approved! She ignores the kitty in her foster home.   Children | Honey has not been kiddo tested yet, but with a positive introduction (hello, cheese and hotdog snacks!) she could do well in homes with kind and respectful kiddos.  Training | Honey is potty trained and good with other animals! She is learning basic commands and is food motivated and sweet. Honey LOVES toys of all kind - soft and hard - and would prefer a home that has lots of toys for her to chew on and play with. She always has a toy or two by her side! She is quiet and well behaved once she's in the crate, but prefers being outside of the crate with her doggy and human friends! Her foster mom is working on helping her see her crate as a safe place that she'll happily hang out in even if the door is open! She's also great in the car and hops right in! She's learning that car rides usually mean she gets to chase her foster sister around at a dog park. :)  Leash | Honey walks well in the leash! she will pull a bit, but she's a small gal, so she's easy to control even when she pulls! She's being fostered in a quiet, suburban apartment and is doing great! She could potentially be adopted into another apartment as long as it's very quiet, has another dog, and her future family is willing to be very patient while she settles in.  Activity Level | Moderate - your typical active puppy! She has another dog in the home to play with and she does frequently! She's good about taking naps unprompted as well and cycles between play and naps like a good puppy should! :) Health Notes |  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | Your "wish" come true is right here! Sweet little Wish has been wishing for and wanting her own family to love, explore with, and dote on! She couldn't be cuter, more excited to play, or to continue her training! Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Wish is sweet and adoring - she loves cuddles, following her foster around, and is learning day by day! Story | Wish and her six siblings and mama were found outside of Conroe, Texas in a relatively ferral state - with mama being nearly untouchable, and the babies being new to the earth! They spent the first six weeks of their life in a crowded shelter before Mile High Lab Mission pulled the family, and now all are learning and adjusting to living and being in a home! It's been a scary and long road for this crew, but they are learning fast, being adaptable, and getting all the love! Other Dogs | Wish does well with other dogs, and is living in her foster home with multiple pups, including one of her siblings! She is still a puppy and is learning boundaries and to follow cues, but she plays well with her siblings, and would be happy to have another dog pal in her future home!  Cats | Wish hasn't met a kitty yet, but due to her young age and sweet demeanor, the rescue thinks she could do well with cats with a proper introduction. Children | Wish LOVES kiddos, and loves playing with her foster's grandchildren, the neighborhood kids, and getting all the lovins! She would be happy to have kiddos to play with and dote on, as long as they are respectful and kind.  Training | Wish's training is in progress! She is still a puppy, so she is working on potty training, crate training, and basic commands. As she has come out of the shelter, the primary goal has been supporting with decompression and ensuring she knows she is safe and loved. Training will come with time! Leash | Wish isn't walking on a leash quite yet, but hopefully soon! Activity Level | Moderate - your basic lab puppy! Health Notes |  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. She's ready to sprinkle your Colorado home with joyful wiggles, adventurous spirit, and a lifetime of fun-loving companionship. Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Per her foster: Ruby is a gentle giant! She gets along great with other dogs and very sweet to cats and kids. She is young at heart and loves to run. Zoomies in the yard playing chase with the other dogs is a favorite. She has spurts of energy, but is over all an easy, calm big girl! She loves soft beds, toys and chewing bones. She does not have food or toy aggression. I do not Kennel Ruby as she is potty trained and no chewing issues. When she wants to go outside to potty, she will come over look at you and nudge your arm then walk for the door. She loves to lay in the sun and relax, but she wants you to be near. She'll follow you room to room ready for any adventure as long as you're together. She does well in the car, but stress pants a bit. Ruby is a fast learner and aims to please; she is very responsive to commands. She loves to go on walks, but we're working on not pulling as she's a big girl especially when defending you from those naughty squirrels. Overall, Ruby is a big love bug. She will be an easy foster and will be a great addition to any family! Story | Dropped off as a stray at a high kill shelter in Houston, TX, this girl is making her big break for CO! General Notes | Sweet Mama Bluebell is finishing up raising her 9 (!!!) beautiful babies and is so looking forward to a forever home in Colorado with the uncontional love she has provided to others her entire life. This gal truly is the best of the best - sweet, mellow, tail always wagging! Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Bluebell is known as one of the most friendly and adoring dogs we've ever met. She is so, so sweet, gentle, and wonderful!  Story | Bluebell arrived at a high euthanasia shelter heavily pregnant, and was put on the EU list due to her limp/a challenge with her back leg. At the last moment, MHLM pulled her from the shelter, which brought her to safety, and now she has delivered and has been raising her babies! This gal is the most wonderful mama and deserves her own happily ever after.  Other Dogs | Bluebell is good with other dogs! Observant, but not overly involved! Cats | Bluebell hasn't been kitty tested, but based on her demeanor and wonderful personality, the rescue thinks she could do well with cats.  Children | Bluebell LOVES humans who give love! Give her all the kiddo snuggles and pets! Training | In progress. Mama Bluebell has been solely focused on looking after her babies so far, but once she weans them, training can begin! Leash | Bluebell is good on a leash. Activity Level | Low to moderate.  Health Notes | Bluebell has healed tib/fib fracture in her left hind leg and our vets highly suspect a CCL tear +/- other soft tissue tears in her left hind leg as well. She would need a further assessment from an orthopedic professional but as of now is easily managed on pain meds. Figuring out her care going forward would be dependent on an ortho consult however per our vets, she would need exercise restriction, pain meds, and probably surgery. Don't let that stop you from adopting as she'll likely be good as new once she recovers! MHLM will support in paying for all surgery costs should they be necessary. She is doing great and is such a wonderful dog!  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. She adapts well to new environments, adores her foster family's  dog, and is learning all the rules that come with living with both kiddos, other dogs and kitties!  Story | Tres and her six siblings were an "oopsie" litter in Albequrque, New Mexico born to a Shepherd mix mama, and a yellow lab daddy. When they were born, a citizen bystander stepped up and gave them all the love and support they needed for the first eight weeks of their lives. When it came time to wean, the shelter shared they were at capacity and could not take the dogs due to them being at risk for euthanasia. He waited and reached out for additional up until they were brought in by MHLM, and made their way to Colorado! Her entire litter is SO sweet and will make the best life companions! Other Dogs | Tres does wonderfully with other dogs, both big and small! She is playful but respectful, and sweet as they come. She came from a house with 11 dogs in NM! She was a little afraid of her new 75 lb foster lab brother, but realized he wasn't so scary pretty quickly!  Cats | Tres just met her new foster kitty brother and is doing well so far! Like most puppies, she's more interested in the kitty than the kitty is in him! Her foster family is teaching her to leave the kitty alone and give him plenty of space! She's learned this the hard way from the kitty a few times already!  Children | Tres was in a foster home with kiddos and was so, so happy with little people around to dote on, play with, and cuddle with! Her new foster family doesn't have any children, but still think she'd do amazing! She went to a Colorado Rapids soccer game and was held by kids and teenagers almost the whole game and loved it! Training | Tres is almost fully potty trained, is working on crate training, and is food motivated - ready to learn, just like her siblings! She already started going to the door to let her foster family know she has to go potty! She slept through the night (10pm - 6pm without a peep or any accidents! Being a lab/shepherd mix, she's got some smart blood running through her veins and is ready to learn all the tricks! She's also a typical lab who is extremely food motivated which should make training a breeze!  Leash | Tres is just starting leash walking, and is learning every day! She isn't sure about it yet, but gets excited for the adventure!  Activity Level | Tres is a typical puppy who plays hard, then naps hard, then is right back to playing! Given she has lab and shepherd in her, her adopters should expect her to be medium to high energy when she's older. She currently loves chewing on both hard and soft toys, especially on the couch right next to you! Health Notes | Healthy and happy!  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $525. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $700 per dog). Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only.  To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption.   We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. General Notes | Have you ever seen a pup so dashing?! Sweet Jake is all love, all good looks, all the time! After being found out in the boondocks of Texas and spending his early childhood in the shelter, this boy is ready for his breakthrough moment where he can find his forever family! Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Jake is sweet, adoring, curious, and a total lover. His tail is constantly wagging, and he is adjusting to living in a loving foster home!  Story | Jake and his six siblings and mama were found outside of Conroe, Texas in a relatively ferral state - with mama being nearly untouchable, and the babies being new to the earth! They spent the first six weeks of their life in a crowded shelter before Mile High Lab Mission pulled the family, and now all are learning and adjusting to living and being in a home! It's been a scary and long road for this crew, but they are learning fast, being adaptable, and getting all the love! Other Dogs | Jake does well with other dogs. He is still a puppy and is learning boundaries and to follow cues, but he plays well with his siblings, and would be happy to have another dog pal in his future home!  Cats | Jake hasn't met a kitty yet, but due to his young age and sweet demeanor, the rescue thinks he could do well with cats with a proper introduction. Children | Jake is learning about love from children! He would be happy to have kiddos to play with and dote on, as long as they are respectful and kind.  Training | Jake's training is in progress! He is still a puppy, so he is working on potty training, crate training, and basic commands. As he has come out of the shelter, the primary goal has been supporting with decompression and ensuring he knows he is safe and loved. Training will come with time! Leash | Jake isn't walking on a leash quite yet, but hopefully soon! Activity Level | Moderate - your basic lab puppy! Health Notes | He's been in a loving foster home for a few weeks now and is looking so much healthier and full of life! Thank you! |  Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age.
