General Notes | What an amazing boy!!! Rufus, a handsome four-year-old labradoodle, is a fun gentleman with a heart full of gold. Much like his name, this devoted boy has a rich, comforting spirit and a charming, shaggy look. He’s a stable and loving companion, ready to bring his distinguished personality and a lifetime of unwavering loyalty to your family. He is truly an amazing dog! He is potty trained, loves other dogs, great off leash and on, chill and also a athletic- all while being a best friend. Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP. Personality | Sweet, loyal, playful, calm. Story | Rufus came into foster care about 3 weeks ago and has transitioned well to a family dog! He loves his people and other dogs. H He’s been good with kids of all ages, and truly is as sweet as they come! Other Dogs | Rufus adores other dogs. Started a little timid and unsure but with his foster siblining dogs showing Rufus what to do, he loves to play. Give him a stuffy and he’s up for a game of chase or tug any time of day. We’ve had zero thoughts of any kind of escape from the 6 foot fence even with dogs on the other side, zero issues with feeding all dogs together, he jumps in the car on his own, and did great off leash with our other dogs in an open field. He will go in a kennel but does fine left alone free roam. Cats | Interested and still learning Children | Great Training | House-trained Leash | great! Activity Level | Medium, he likes to run and play with his foster sibliing dogs in their back yard but chills out easily Health Notes | Rufus is heartworm positive, but treatment is very successful and completely manageable with all the proper education. MHLRM will cover the expense of treatment at one of our approved veterinarians. Heartworm positive dogs go on to live happy, normal lives after treatment and rarely experience long-term side effects. Don't let this stop you from adopting Rufus! Thank you! | Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $525. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $700 per dog). Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page! We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved. Your application is good for one year from the date of applying for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle.
