General Notes | I'm ATLAS and I'm just bursting at the seams with love.  I'm a young buck and I've got so much to learn.  I've got a great head start and I'm learning more each day.   I'm not bouncing off the walls like those other crazy pups.  Don't get me wrong...if you want to party...I'll party.  If you want to nap...I'd lay my sweet head on your chest and show you how to snooze like a champ.  I want to be your best friend.  Where ever you be, I'd like to be...even if it's just in the corner snoozing while you're working or choring.  If you're doing the yogas, I'll get on the mat and show you how to do it right.  Did I tell you I'm perfectly crate trained!?!  Well, I am.  I'll go in without a peep or a fuss and I'll sleep through the night patiently waiting to start a new day with you.  I'd prefer to sleep up in the bed with you...so think about that...Ok!   I'll be your loyal and best friend...I promise.  All I need is lot of hugs and lots of love...and maybe a few delicious cookies.    Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality |  Story |  Other Dogs |  Cats |  Children |  Training |  Leash |  Activity Level |  Health Notes |  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. Since his rescue, he has been in a foster home in Houston before recently making his way to Colorado! He's been in a loving foster home since he was a few days old and is well socialized! He seems to be all lab in that he loves food and should be easy to train with treats! He's doing surprisingly well with potty training for his age and already seems to prefer going outside to going inside! He's also been good about using puppy pads when he does potty inside! He'll need continued training but his foster parents think potty training will be a breeze!  Leash | Buster is still too small for leash training but will start practicing once he's a little bigger! When they were born, a citizen bystander stepped up and gave them all the love and support they needed for the first eight weeks of their lives. When it came time to wean, the shelter shared they were at capacity and could not take the dogs due to them being at risk for euthanasia. He waited and reached out for additional up until they were brought in by MHLM, and made their way to Colorado!  Other Dogs | Quattro does wonderfully with other dogs, both big and small! He is now making his way to Colorado to join Mile High life! Other Dogs | August is great with other dogs! He's happy to share treats with his dog friends and is so sweet! Children | August is good around little humans! He has been described as a very gentle boy!  Training | August is a great dog! He's quickly learning all about what it means to be loved as an inside dog now that he's off the streets. He's really a smart dog as he quickly learned the sit command. General Notes | Why chase luck when you can adopt it? Fortune’s waiting! This charming boy has puppy ears made of silk and the best demeanor. He is settling into his foster home, enjoys soaking up the Colorado sun, learning and growing each day, and can't wait for a family that will snuggle and love on him endlessly! Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Fortune is inquisitive, observant, and sweet. He’s very adaptable, and full of spunky puppy energy. Fortune has a great balance — he plays enthusiastically with dogs of all sizes (even the big ones!) but also knows how to settle down and relax when playtime’s over. He’s feisty in the best way — confident, playful, and always up for an adventure, yet calm and cuddly when it’s time to wind down. Story | Fortune and his six siblings and mama were found outside of Conroe, Texas in a relatively ferral state - with mama being nearly untouchable, and the babies being new to the earth! They spent the first six weeks of their life in a crowded shelter before Mile High Lab Mission pulled the family, and now all are learning and adjusting to living and being in a home! It's been a scary and long road for this crew, but they are learning fast, being adaptable, and getting all the love! Other Dogs | Fortune does very well with other dogs. He is still a puppy and is learning boundaries and to follow cues, but he plays well with his siblings and older foster brothers and would be happy to have another dog pal in his future home!  Cats | Fortune hasn't met a kitty yet, but due to his young age and sweet demeanor, the rescue thinks he could do well with cats with a proper introduction. Children | Fortune is learning about love from children! He would be happy to have kiddos to play with and dote on, as long as they are respectful and kind.  Training | Fortune's training is in progress! He is still a puppy, so he is working on potty training, and basic commands. Fortune already knows how to sit for a treat and sleeps through the night in his crate like a pro. As he has come out of the shelter, the primary goal has been supporting with decompression and ensuring he knows he is safe and loved. Training will come with time! Leash | Fortune isn't walking on a leash quite yet, but hopefully soon! Activity Level | Moderate - your basic lab puppy! Health Notes | He's been in a loving foster home for a few weeks now and is looking so much healthier and full of life! Thank you! |  Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | Purebred, pretty, and perfect! Sweet Zoey has a heart full of love, and she's eager to cuddle up, play fetch, and be your most loyal, reddish-hued adventure buddy as you hike, bike, and play your way through Colorado! Zoey is a red purebred lab (papered and everything!), who is an owner surrender due to life changes. She is now looking for her forever people! Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Zoey is sweet, mellow, wonderful, and a joy to be around. She is happy, tail wagging, and filled with love! She is exceptional and any family would be lucky to have her.  Story | Zoey is unfortunately an owner surrender out of Beaumont, TX. Her owner's elderly mother moved in and keeps tripping and falling over her, making it impossble for her to live inside, and her owners don't feel like it's fair to make her an outside only dog! In considering her best interests, they are hoping she can find a forever family in Colorado who can continue to give her endless snuggles and love.  Other Dogs | Zoey loves other dogs! She would do well with another dog or two in her forever home. She grew up with a chocolate lab brother and adored snuggling and playing with him. Cats | Zoey hasn't been formerly kitty tested, but with proper introduction, could do well!  Children | Zoey loves kiddos and is happy to play, hang, or snuggle! Training | Zoey is potty trained and knows all basic commands. She is wonderful.  Leash | Zoey is GREAT on a leash and is the happiest girl! Activity Level | Moderate - she loves to lounge around the house, but is also happy romping around the yard or playing with other dogs! Health Notes |  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | Meet Brownie, a gorgeous, petite mama with a truly sweet disposition. Just like a delicious brownie, she's full of warmth and goodness. She's been a fantastic mom to her eight little chocolate nuggets and is now looking forward to being cherished and loved in her own right. All her babies found their forever homes and now it's her turn! Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | This petite, submissive, loving mama is clearly living her best life in foster care, basking in all the adoration (and honestly, who can blame her?). She is great with the other dogs in her foster family and also enjoys coming over for petting time with her foster mom during her nursing breaks. Now that her puppies are weened, she enjoys playing with the other young dog in her foster home, playing with toys, and chewing on antlers. She's a happy girl who's tail is always wagging. She is only 45 lbs and would do wonderful for a family looking for a smaller sized lab mix!  Story | Brownie and her babies were pulled from a high-kill shelter in Houston. She recently finished weening all her puppies and now is ready to find a home of her own! Other Dogs | Brownie is now ready to revel in her own puppyhood! She adores running, wrestling, and playing with the young dog in her foster home, enthusiastically joining in games of chase and tug of war. She's happy to share toys with her foster sister and will happily let her chew one half of a bone while she chews the other half! She also shows a respectful understanding of the household doggy dynamics, honoring the boundaries set by the older resident "queen bee." She's a submissive girl who hasn't shown any resource guarding tendencies. This sweet little mama is truly full of fun! Cats | Brownie has not been cat tested yet. She hasn't shown much interest in squirrels, rabbits or birds on her walks which may be an indicator that she'd be fine with a resident kitty.  Children | Brownie has a sweet disposition and would most likey be good with kind, respectful children.  Training | This smart girl is already crate trained and has even mastered the doggie door. Fully house-trained and comfortable being left loose without causing any trouble, Brownie is also very food-motivated, which makes her a joy to train. This super sweet girl loves to be loved on, handled bath time with ease, and responds well to correction when she gets a little too vocal. She prefers slow introductions to men but is great once she feels comfortable around them, especially if they throw her some cheese. ;) Leash | She walks well on the leash and doesn't pull! You can see in the video included in her profile just how politely she walks on a leash! :) Activity Level | Moderate. Motherhood may have graced Brownie with wisdom, but it hasn't dimmed the exuberant puppy that still flickers within, especially when a toy is involved – whether it's a spirited game of tug or unleashing her natural retriever instincts in a flurry of happy fetching activity. Health Notes | Brownie finished weening her last litter of puppies in May and will soon be spayed! Thank you! |  Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. Lemon is an adorable, playful, and smart little pup who's ready to find her forever family. With her irresistibly floppy ears and curious eyes, she wins hearts wherever she goes. General Notes | Rudy is settling into life in Colorado and looking for a family who enjoys long walks, happy tail wags, and bedtime snuggles! Looking for a bottom of the bed heater? A snuggle bug? A perfect pup pillow? Rudy is the guy for you! Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality Rudy has had a very tough go of things over the past year but he is so very sweet and gentle. Once he relaxed enough in his foster home to start wagging his tail it now almost never stops!  He can be shy with new people and will often  bark at them in the house but it's important to emphasize that he is not doing this out of aggresion.  His current foster has been working with him on this with some sucess.  He obviously has lived in a house before as he is house trained and not destructive at all. He jumped right up on the bed the first night and was so very happy! It would be great to find a home for him where he can sleep next to his humans. He is INCREDIBLY sweet and so happy to be in a home again. He needs a place that will spoil him rotten! He also LOVES the water!!!  Notes from the shelter volunteer - Rudy’s sad labby eyes and soulful demeanor stopped me as I was going down the row. Rudy is a little timid, however he was nothing but pleasant for me! He happily took my treats with a very soft mouth. Rudy let me leash him easily and is definitely potty trained! He also accepted my pets. He was too distracted by all the new sights and sounds to do much else outside, but he perked up when he saw his friend Jake through the kennel. Rudy definitely felt safest back in his kennel, and happily went back in. He posed for my pictures and gave me the saddest puppy eyes.  Taking treats - https://youtu.be/alaPTwiUuEs Outside - https://youtu.be/LfdUpvOE6TA Inside his kennel - https://youtu.be/2rQnQw1cTRQ Story | Max, Rudy, Jake and Rocky have a very sad story. They were abandoned in the streets by their owners, and when contacted to let them know their 4 senior dogs were at the shelter, the owners said they no longer want them. Unfortunately this put them at immediate risk of euthanasia at the shelter due to their age and limited capacity. Other Dogs | Friendly. Rudy enjoys being around other dogs. He is gentle and sweet during introductions. He has tried to initiate play with his foster sister pup several times.  He is not great with smaller dogs and puppies. until he has spent a fair amount of well supervised time with them.   Cats | Unknown but he does seem to have a strong prey drive with squirrels, rabbits and ducks.   Children | Unknown but he can be shy with new people and sudden movements (not aggressive) so older kids would be best. Training | House trained and well-mannered! Takes treats nicely. He knows the basics very well! He can be a bit of an escape artist (ask me how I know!) so a very secure yard would be a good idea.  Rudy does tend to bark when left alone so a home where people are around most of the time would be great.  Or, a home with other dogs to keep him company.     Leash | Walks nicely on leash. Enjoys to stop and sniff. LOVES going on walks! Activity Level | Medium-low.  Health Notes | Rudy was heartworm positive at intake, but has since completed treatment. Heartworm positive dogs go on to live happy, normal lives after treatment and rarely experience long-term side effects. As an older gentleman, Rudy has some normal "wear and tear" -- his joints are slower than they probably used to be and he had a few teeth extracted due to lack of dental care for so long. Don't let this stop you from adopting Rudy!  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. Both still have rural dog tendencies - they are a bit prey driven (hello squirrel chaser!) and are a bit fearful of touch and fast movements. Other Dogs | Aster is great with other dogs and is playful but respectful of them in her foster home. Aster thrives with a dog to follow the lead from and play with but has become more confident day by day in her foster homes   Cats | Aster is cat tested and cat approved! She did well with the kitties in her Texas foster home.  Children | Aster hasn't been with kids in her foster homes but she has been very gentle so far and will tolerate being picked up when needed. She would most likely do well in a home with respectful kiddos.  Training | Aster is crate trained and house trained.  She's very smart and so close to knowing sit.  She's very food motivated so easy to train.   Leash | Aster is doing great with leash walking and getting more confident everyday.  She happily wags her tail the whole time she's on a walk.    Activity Level | Moderate - your typical active puppies!  She likes to get her zoomies in but isn't super high energy and will happily nap and entertain herself when foster dad is working during the day.   Health Notes |  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $525. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $700 per dog). Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only.  To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption.   We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page! We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved.  Your application is good for one year from the date of applying for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle. show less

General Notes | Beautiful Briar has recently made her way to Colorado and can't wait to find her new family! This sweet girl couldn't be more perfect - she is all things puppy and fluffy! Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Briar is adoring and endearing - she loves to play, nap, and play some more, with some snuggles intermixed! She has the sweetest personality and is quite the observer. Interests and hobbies include finding all the dog beds and soft spots in the home and sneaking off to them when in need of a quick snooze, nibbling on the tags of all pillows in the home (she doesn't discriminate - if it's attached to a pillow, it's going in her mouth!) along with hands and feet (she is a big, big fan of slippers!), giving sweet licks and kisses when excited, and snuggling with humans, puppies, her foster dogs - you name it, it if is warm and she can nuzzle against it she will!  Story | Briar was rescued with her nine (!!) siblings and mama days after her mom gave birth on the streets in Houston, TX. A concerned citizen noticed their pregnant mama Honey, and immediately put out a plea for rescue. MHLM jumped into action, and a dedicated foster drove over four hours and searched for the family in order to save them. Since her rescue, she has been in a foster home in Houston before recently making her way to Colorado!  Other Dogs | Briar does wonderfully with other dogs, and would adore a doggy sibling.  Cats | Briar has not been cat tested, but due to her age and sweet temperament, her fosters think she would do well in adapting to a house with kitties.  Children | Briar LOVES little humans! She will take all the snuggles, cuddles, chase, and play, please! She would do well in a family with kids.  Training | In progress - Briar is still a little lady, and is new to the world. She is working on both potty and crate training, and is learning sit! She is a quick learner, and takes cues from the siblings and other dogs she is around and becomes what is needed in a given situation. For example, when with one of her male siblings that is a bit more outgoing, she will try to keep up with him and follow his lead. She mastered the stairs quickly this way! When with one of her female siblings that is a bit more reserved, she will try to become the one to empower and teach. She very sweetly showed sibling Blair how to navigate the tricky and scary gutter spout in the yard this way. She is doing very well with sleep and potty training. She is sleeping soundly from 10pm-7am, and will wait until removed from her crate or play pen and placed outside to potty! Leash | Briar is still little, and isn't walking independently on a leash yet. She will learn as her training progresses!  Activity Level | Moderate. Briar likes to play, sleep, play, but is a typical puppy and still gets the zoomies!  Health Notes |  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age.
