General Notes | Beautiful Briar has recently made her way to Colorado and can't wait to find her new family! This sweet girl couldn't be more perfect - she is all things puppy and fluffy! Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP. Personality | Briar is adoring and endearing - she loves to play, nap, and play some more, with some snuggles intermixed! She has the sweetest personality and is quite the observer. Interests and hobbies include finding all the dog beds and soft spots in the home and sneaking off to them when in need of a quick snooze, nibbling on the tags of all pillows in the home (she doesn't discriminate - if it's attached to a pillow, it's going in her mouth!) along with hands and feet (she is a big, big fan of slippers!), giving sweet licks and kisses when excited, and snuggling with humans, puppies, her foster dogs - you name it, it if is warm and she can nuzzle against it she will! Story | Briar was rescued with her nine (!!) siblings and mama days after her mom gave birth on the streets in Houston, TX. A concerned citizen noticed their pregnant mama Honey, and immediately put out a plea for rescue. MHLM jumped into action, and a dedicated foster drove over four hours and searched for the family in order to save them. Since her rescue, she has been in a foster home in Houston before recently making her way to Colorado! Other Dogs | Briar does wonderfully with other dogs, and would adore a doggy sibling. Cats | Briar has not been cat tested, but due to her age and sweet temperament, her fosters think she would do well in adapting to a house with kitties. Children | Briar LOVES little humans! She will take all the snuggles, cuddles, chase, and play, please! She would do well in a family with kids. Training | In progress - Briar is still a little lady, and is new to the world. She is working on both potty and crate training, and is learning sit! She is a quick learner, and takes cues from the siblings and other dogs she is around and becomes what is needed in a given situation. For example, when with one of her male siblings that is a bit more outgoing, she will try to keep up with him and follow his lead. She mastered the stairs quickly this way! When with one of her female siblings that is a bit more reserved, she will try to become the one to empower and teach. She very sweetly showed sibling Blair how to navigate the tricky and scary gutter spout in the yard this way. She is doing very well with sleep and potty training. She is sleeping soundly from 10pm-7am, and will wait until removed from her crate or play pen and placed outside to potty! Leash | Briar is still little, and isn't walking independently on a leash yet. She will learn as her training progresses! Activity Level | Moderate. Briar likes to play, sleep, play, but is a typical puppy and still gets the zoomies! Health Notes | Thank you! | Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $525. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $700 per dog). Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page! We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved. Your application is good for one year from date of applying for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle.
