General Notes | Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Carter is such a sweet little guy. He loves to cuddle and be by his people. He is a very affectionate puppy and just wants to be a part of the family. He is not demanding of attention but just wants to be where you are. He is also ready for some play time and has enjoyed wrestling with the other puppy in the home. He has the cutest little hops and flops when playing with toys. He loves squeaky toys, tennis balls and chews Story | He was at a shelter in Edinburg, TX before making his way to Colorado Other Dogs | So far doing well with his two foster siblings -- a five year old female lab and an 8 month old male Weimaraner. He wants to play but can get a little overwhelmed when the other puppy comes on a little strong. He does initiate play and seems to be warming up quickly. He has gained a lot of his confidence by watching and interacting with the other dogs in the home -- another dog in his adoptive home would be a huge benefit to his continued growth Cats | Unknown Children | No kids in current foster home but he did meet some kids at a recent adoption event and was very sweet with them. He would do best dog saavy kids  Training | Blank slate. He seems eager to please and lights up when he is praised! He sleeps thru the night in his kennel (he would definitely prefer to sleep in the bed). He does well in his kennel when I am at work or running errands. He hasn't displayed any bad chewing habits -- he only plays with and chews on his dog toys! He has been doing GREAT going potty outside (only one accident) so he will be fully potty trained in no time Leash He doesn't pull but is still learning to stick to a side. He is getting more confident with every walk Activity Level | Moderate. He has gotten the zoomies a few times but has done some napping as well.  He generally has a calm and happy energy Health Notes | Healthy! He had wounds from a dog attack when he first got to the shelter that were treated (punctures). He finished antibiotics. HW (-). He could stand to gain a few pounds Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | Penny is sweet as they come and settling into life in Colorado with ease! She walks well on a leash, enjoys the company of other dogs, and her fosters beleive she would also do well with cats. Penny is between 7 - 9 months old and is is still learning. She would do best in a home with another dog to show her the ropes. She hasn't experienced much in her first few months of life, so she's trying new things and exploring each and every day. She quickly warms up to new people and you're bound to be her best friend! She snuggles right in and adores time close to her people. Penny is also learning manners. She loves to "hug" and kiss her human companions, so she's working on "down" to counter that affection. She enjoys napping on the couch, playing outside with her foster siblings, and giving kisses and hugs to anyone who will allow them!  Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Social, friendly, submissive Story | Penny came to Colorado through Arkansas, where she was rescued with her brother from a hoarding situation. Since arrival she has been learning about all sorts of new things like stairs, bathtubs, bikes and beds! Penny is still pretty unsure of the world around her, and doesn't like loud noises or when people approach too quickly. When given time, she opens up and wants to be in your pocket! She particularly likes snuggling up to her people on couches and beds.  Other Dogs | Does very well with other dogs of all ages/sizes. Is non-reactive to loud barking dogs on walks.  Cats | Has not been tested with cats, but fosters beleive she would do well.  Children | Penny loved the kiddos at puppy yoga, and adores cuddling up with kids to snuggle or lick their faces. Training | In Progress! Penny is potty trained and crate trained. She does well free roaming the house during the day and the night and is not destructive, but enjoys playing with toys. Penny likes to jump on new friends, and is working on "down." Leash | Walks well on a leash.  Activity Level | Moderate Health Notes |  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | Benny wants to be your loyal adventure buddy and he's searching for his forever family! He loves playing with other dogs, toys and spending time with his foster parents. Benny is potty trained, rides very well in the car and sleeps in a kennel next to his foster's bed at night. When winding down at the end of the day, he enjoys snuggling and giving kisses. His foster Mom thinks he's the perfect size (he's 36 lbs at 8 months so he may likely be medium sized as an adult) and will be a great addition to your family. Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.  Health Notes | None noted.  Other Dogs | Benny loves playing with other pups at home, at dog parks and on hikes! There are two 2 year old lab resuces in his foster home currently and there were 3 rescues in his Texas foster home.  He snuggles with his foster siblings when he's napping!  Cats | We're not sure how he will get along with cats but given that he's great with dogs he may after introdution.   Children | There are no children in his Colorado foster's house but he has met small children and done really well.  Training | Benny is POTTY TRAINED! He has not had a single accident in his Colorado foster's home and goes to the door when he needs to potty. At night, he makes noise in his kennel if he needs to go potty and be let out. Benny is working on crate training, he now knows to walk into his crate when it's time for bed.  Right now, he has a work at home foster Mom and Benny needs to potty every 3-4 hours during the day. Benny is very spirited (still a puppy) and will need to continue his training with his forever family.  He's learned to sit for his meals; he's very food motivated :).  Leash | Activity Level | Benny is an typical 8 month old puppy.  He loves to run, play, and follow his foster parents and foster dog siblings around the house.  He has puppy energy but he naps on a dog bed while his Foster Mom works and is learning to walk on a leash.  He does pull and jump while on a leash at times (Benny says he's still a puppy and learning) so he will need someone to continue to work on this with frequent walks.  Personality | Benny is very kind and we believe he has the sweetest heart! He loves to touch, have his head in your lap at night and snuggle.  He's a happy puppy. Story | Benny was found as a stray in Texas with his Mom and brother and then taken to a shelter.  He spent time in the shelter; and, after MHLM saved him, he spent two weeks at his foster home in Texas.  Next, Benny journeyed to Colorado to find his forever family! Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | Fiona is as sweet and as goofy as they come. She learned how to work the stairs on her first day in CO and is settling in to life in a home. She is affectionate and eager to please, and responds well to correction. Her current favorite pastimes include playing with her dog friends, hunting grasshoppers (she's very good and often catches them!), chewing her toys (frozen stuffed Kong is a fave), convincing humans to throw her ball, and chasing the chickens but never tries to bite them! She loves to play with all her foster family's dogs - she gets the zoomies and runs runs runs on their acre of land. She plays hard but naps hard. She's very treat and praise-motivated and is a smarty pants. She sleeps through the night. She picked up the doggie door within minutes after following her foster mom's dogs outside - no accidents inside so she is potty trained! Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | playful, affectionate, curious  Fiona is not a dainty lady and will choose off-road adventures over sidewalk strolls most times (that's where all the most interesting stuff is!). She isn't easily startled and she's very interested in checking out the world around her. Story | MHLM saved Fiona from a high-kill shelter in New Mexico, right before she was scheduled to be put down. Now she's soaking up the love and practicing her silly faces while she waits for her forever home. Other Dogs |  yes Cats | Unsure - she likes to chase chickens but has never tried to bite them. Children | She has done well with older children as well as her human foster brother that is 6 - she gives him all the kisses!  Training | It doesn't seem like she's had training before but this sweet girl is already learning new things and is very smart. She's is potty trained (she uses the doggie door), and is working on learning that the crate is a good place to hang out and remembering her manners when she gets excited during playtime. She walks with her foster mom and brother almost every day to school and it getting much better on the leash!  Leash | She's happy to go for walks on a leash (and sometimes has strong opinions about which direction we should go) and is still getting the hang of not tripping up her human with zigzags to check out all the things she's wants to investigate. Activity Level she enjoys lots of activity and is especially energetic in the mornings Health Notes |  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age. Cats | unknown Children | Oreo is great with his foster home's kiddos (ages 13 & 15), and loves to snuggle with them, and especially loves belly scratches. General Notes | Hello, I'm Bo! While I don't want to brag, I'm a pretty amazing companion - and someone out there is sure going to be lucky they swiped right on me! I am one sweet gentle giant, and whatever you're into, I'm into! Want to go for a hike? I'll grab my off-roading harness. Camping more your thing? Doggy-approved s'mores have my name all over them. Need a day or night in to watch TV and relax? No need for a blanket - I'll make myself at home snuggled up next to you! Sound too good to be true? I know, I get that a lot, but I really just love being around my pack - from people and kids to dogs and cats - and enjoying time with them! I'll admit though, I do have a beige flag...which is my bark can be on the louder side. But I promise I only use it to say hello, and to say I'm having a great time! There is not an aggressive bone in my body! I don't demand attention, although if you put a hand out near me you should know I'm going to rest my chin on it and stare lovingly into your eyes until you cannot stop loving on me. I am one seriously sweet and good boy - won't you give me a chance to mesh right in with your life and add even more to it!?   Personality | I am one super friendly guy! I love to greet people when they come to the door, and can even help you keep an eye out for possible new friends walking by! I may let out a bark only as each person and dog that go by are 1 less person and dog I cannot say hi to, but I'd say hello to everyone if I could! I am dog park and doggy daycare approved - and I've never had a doggy play date say I'm anything but a 5 star friend and play buddy! Story | I was rescued from Texas by Mile High Lab Mission in 2020, and was adopted by a family in CO that saw what a catch I was. Sadly, a severe health issue is forcing my family to make an incredibly difficult decision to have MHLM find me a new home, as they know I have so much exploring to do and love to give and they want me to have all of that and more! They are not rehoming me due to any fault of my own!  Other Dogs | Love them! I become one wiggly boy when I see them, and cannot wait to gently introduce myself! Cats | I live with one now and am told I do a great job - so cat approved! Children | I am wonderful with kids - more people for me to be happy surrounding myself near, and more tiny hands to love on me! I'm not always aware of my size though, so teeny tiny humans may get bumped around me. I just get so excited and don't rezlied they are so much smaller than me! Training | I am house trainiuned and am very respectful of things that arent his own. When at home, I am just happy and content, and don't have any inclination to be destructive whatsoever. I know sit, and some other basic commands and am very smart so easily trainable. Leash | I sometimes pull when I see new friends or things I want to investigate further (like food!), but this can be worked on! Activity Level | Medium. I am content with both short walks, long hikes, day long play at doggy day camp, etc.  Health Notes | I am healthy, and take pride in my perfect pink nose and soft coat! Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Bo is the best dog. He's everything you'd want in a lab -- wiggly, eager to please, loving, smart and gentle.  Story | Bo and his brother Luke were given to Mile High by someone who took them in but could no longer care for them. We're excited to provide them a second chance at life in Colorado! Other Dogs | Wonderful. Bo loves other dogs and finds comfort in their company. He'd be great in a home with another dog that matches his energy.  Cats | Unsure. Children | Not sure yet, but given his sweet demeanor, we think he will be good with them. He's a large dog and may knock over littles. Best to keep a close eye on them! Training | He knows basic commands like sit, stay and down. He goes into the crate without challenge and quickly settles down. Bo is very smart and would love an adopter to continue his training! Leash | Bo walks well on leash. He is a little timid at first, but gains confidence as he walks. A little more practice and we're sure this boy will be a great hiking partner! Activity Level | Medium. Bo is a young, athletic dog. He is easily excited and wiggles his entire body for attention. He understands when to settle down, though.  Health Notes | No health concerns. General Notes | Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | this little guy exudes puppy excitement. He loves to play -especially when it comes to fetching a ball. He's fond of tossing toys in the air and catching them himself. I think there's likely a snuggle bug hidden in there somewhere but he's generally too excited that he hasn't shown that side of himself just yet. I think he would be great in a home that has younger dogs that can match his energy but I also think he'd be a wonderful only dog as he loves all the attention! Story |  Other Dogs | he so badly wants to play with our resident dog but she's older and tends to overcorrect him on his puppy behavior. He's super social and just wants to play.   Cats | unsure Children | loves our kiddo but has a difficult time understanding "personal" space/boundaries so we're working on that with him. Training | this sweet boy is a puppy who is working real hard on training so he can be the best boy. He's very much puppy and requires lots of positive praise and redirection. He's good at chewing on the toys he has but does like trying to sneak off with a good pair of shoes or other household items. Like any puppy, Peeta likes to chew on things -he'll need a good variety of toys and supervision. Needs some coaxing into his crate but once in he generally settles in without fuss. Has done really well with potty training and has not had any accidents in his crate. Treat/food motivated so we're trying to teach him all the good boy things with lots of training treats.  Leash | work in progress. He has been on a couple walks and is learning the ropes. I don't think this little guy has ever truly experienced going on walks so he's curious about everything. He'll do great the more walks/leash training he gets.   Activity Level | very playful.  Health Notes |  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age. He is a sponge and you can see on his face he is just soaking everything in.  He has the cutest curl in his tail and the sweetest snore when he sleeps. He has been to a couple breweries and did great!!   Story | Dexter was rescued from a hoarding situation in Arkansas with several other dogs. Other Dogs | Wonderful! He is comforted by other dogs and literally lights up around his foster brother.  He loves to give him kisses.  Cats | unsure  Children | Dexter doesn't have any children in his foster home. General Notes | Hi! My name is West and I am so excited to find my new forever family in Colorado!  Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | My foster family in Texas says I am the sweetest and the BEST teenager they have ever had. I make sure to give them a lot of love in return for all the love they have given to me. They say I am very handsome, and I do have to say that I have beautiful black hair that catches rainbow colors in the sunshine and I don't shed as much as some other labs I've been around.  Story |Somehow I ended up in this big scary place they say is a high-kill shelter in Houston, Texas. I'm so thankful I'm out of that place now, and in a safe quiet home.  Other Dogs | I love seeing other dogs and I promise I won't discriminate on size or color.  Cats | I live with another 4-legged creature, apparently it's a cat. It's really fluffy and cute and I just want to be it's friend. It lets me come near and sniff, but I can take a hint if I'm too close.  Children | Unknown, but being so young and fully of puppy energy, he would probably love having a smaller human to play with and chase around Training | I don't mind being in my kennel either, that's my safe and calm space. I even know how to sit when asked. I'm still working on this potty-training thing, but I promise I will work hard and be successful very soon! I will even be a good boy if you want to give me a bath, and I promise not to jump on your counters. Leash | People are pretty impressed with my leash skills too!  Activity Level | I love to play with soft fabric toys and squeaky toys, but I also love to take a nap and if you ask me to come up on the couch, I most definitely will accept the invitation.  Health Notes | Healthy and up to date on vaccines!
