General Notes | Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP. Personality | Are you looking for a happy, energetic snuggle bug to join your family? Spider's your guy! A friendly, loving pup, his favorite place is by your side, or on your lap, or under your feet... or outside playing chase with another pup! Spider is eager for attention and loves fetch. He chews on appropriate things (even though he sometimes takes our shoes on adventures around the room - they're never chewed!), and is 90% house trained. (He's had the occasional accident, but this is mitigated by keeping him contained and under supervision). He sleeps well in his crate at night and goes in to rest during the day. As a young dog, his patience in his crate during the day is limited, but as long as he's not in there too long and is properly exercised, he settles well. He rides so nicely in the car - either lying down in the back seat or looking calmly out the window, and rarely barks. He loves to lie on top of his crate to look out the window, too. Other Dogs | Spider loves other dogs, but loves to play hard. He's probably a best fit for other young and/or energetic dogs. On leash, he's interested in other dogs but is not leash aggressive. Cats | Unknown Children | Unknown, his foster family does not have any children. Due to his size and energy, he would likely do best with older children (or kids who are very dog-aware). He's very friendly and loves people. Training | Spider is working on his basic commands. He's mastered "sit" and "get down" (to stop jumping up on something), and has learned that sitting / calm greetings will earn him pets and affection. He is easy to recall from the backyard to come inside. He is strongly food motivated and very responsive, but short training sessions are best - he sometimes gets overexcited. He'll do best with an adopter that is ready to set boundaries and provide consistent training. Leash | Spider's leash training is a work in progress. He doesn't mind the leash at all, but he's still learning how to walk without tripping the person walking him. Now that he knows the routine, he happily pops his head into his harness when it's walk time. Activity Level | He definitely is still a puppy and has the energy to match. Would do best in an active household, perhaps with another active dog to play with. That said, he can settle when needed and is content to rest under my feet when I work from home. He's learning that the outside is for playtime and that inside is calm. Health Notes | Story | Spider was rescued from a shelter in New Mexico and has been in Colorado since mid-October. Thank you! | Adoption Donations | Puppies to 1 year - $425, 1-6 years - $375, 7-10 years - $325, and 11+ years - $175. Purebreds are $475 regardless of age. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $600 per dog). Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page! We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved. Your application is good for 90 days from the time of approval for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle.
