General Notes |  Banzai is such a sweet, gentle soul. He is a perfect mix of playful and lazy - he’s great at knowing the energy level of the humans and dogs in the home and matching it.  His foster dad works from home, and he is quiet during the work day, but he is playful when the toys come out.  He loves his bed and will gladly spend lots of quiet time there.  His foster mom works away from home and Banzai can go hours without needing to go potty.   Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Health Notes | He has some vision loss but that doesn't stop him from playing.   Since he has been in foster care, he is gaining weight and his fur is growing back.  The vet has said we might be able to avoid progressive vision loss, but not entirely sure yet.  At his recent dermatologist visit, she said she is optimistic he will regrow most or all of his hair back. Other Dogs | He has been great with all other dogs (who are patient and understand his vision is limited).  He would benefit from having a resident doggie help him understand the rules of the house and where to go.   Cats | Banzai is very interested in kitties and will try to chase them. Children |  He loves all people and his foster thinks he would be fine with older kiddos who understand that he has limited vision. Training | He is house trained.   He is also comfortable in a car (once he’s lifted up) and rides quietly.  Banzai is quiet in a crate and will happily spend time and eat his meals there - he just needs to be shown where it is.  Repetition (and not moving things around too much!) is key for his special guy!  Leash | He does very well on a leash and he is easy to leash up and does well with following the direction of his people. Activity Level | He is a bouncy and fun pup who has cute puppy tendencies (like loving toys) without excessive energy. Personality |  He would be a great match for almost any family - an on the go outdoor family who understands he needs extra guidance due to his limited vision - and even a single person or a couple who are homebodies.  Banzai learns his surroundings (both inside and outside) quickly so please don’t let his limited vision stop you from considering him.  Story | Banzai found himself on the euthanasia list at an open admission Houston shelter, after his owner passed away. Banzai was left in the home with the deceased owner for a period of time before being picked up and transferred to the shelter. MHLM got to him just in time!  Though he looks a little rough, with some patience, love and good food, he is blossoming in to an extra special, sweet, and healthy companion who has lots of years left to enjoy life with a very lucky family.  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Puppies to 1 year - $425, 1-6 years - $375, 7-10 years - $325, and 11+ years - $175. Purebreds are $475 regardless of age. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $600 per dog). General Notes | Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Bella is a very smart, playful and gentle dog. She has an upbeat personality and enjoys her people and friendly dogs. She loves love. She enjoys playing fetch and chasing her foster sister around the yard. She will also cuddle all night on the couch when it's time to relax. Health Notes | Seems happy and healthy. Up to date on all shots. Other Dogs | Bella is very friendly with all dogs. She allows dogs to approach and greet but has not typically been the initiator. She is a sweetheart who will share all toys and treats. Zero food aggression. Cats | Unknown but she doesn't seemed interested in other animals like bunnies or squirrels so should be fine. Children | Bella is very gentle and friendly so we think she would do well with all ages. Training | Bella seems to know her name and some basic commands. She always listens when you tell her to come and she understands no. She learned how to use stairs in less than 10 minutes, despite being very scared. We were told that she wasn't used to cars but she learned to jump in and out very quickly. She rides very well in the car! Leash | She is pretty easy to walk with and will stay next to you. Activity Level | She has a healthy energy level for her age. She loves to play with toys and will chase balls and bring them back to you. She is pretty speedy for being such a small lab. She will lay in her crate all night without making a peep when it is time to rest. Personality | She is very sweet. Will gently take treats, follow you around the house and wags her tail all day. She is the happiest little dog.  Story |  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age.
