General Notes |Calm! How many times can you use that word with a young Labrador ;) Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Health Notes | Tillo is heartworm positive. MHLRM will cover the expense of treatment with one of our approved veterinarians. Heartworm positive dogs go on to live happy, normal lives after treatment and rarely experience long-term side effects. He takes his medicine with food no problem. Don't let this stop you from adopting Tillo!  Other Dogs | Tillo is pretty non bothered by other dogs.  When the neighbor dogs come to our fence he doesn't need to go say hi Cats |  Children | Tillo has not shown any aggression towards my kids.    Training |  Leash | He walks very nice on a leash by my side.   Although, if he sees a bunny and will try and chase it, total Lab move ;)    Activity Level | Super calm! For his age, you would think busy lab, but no! He is super chill dude.  Personality | Tillo is a very calm dude, he does not bark or whine, score!   He has a very sweet presence to him   He still is timid with things, however, he's still settling in. Given some time,  and he gains trust back.  I think that will go away the more he decompresses & settles into the family groove.  Story |  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | Sweet well behaved cuddle queen!  Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Health Notes | Josie is healthy overall. Vet appointment is coming up. Other Dogs | Josie gets along great with other dogs. She is very submissive and at first timid but she gets used to them fast and has started playing with my two dogs. She loves to be around them, lay by them, lick their faces. Is not reactive when they are near her food.  Cats | no info Children | Josie has been around my children ages 13, 10, and 5 and she loves them. They love to play with her and she does great with them. She loves to receive pets from them and cuddle with them. Training | Josie is such a fast learner. She is 100% potty trained and has had no accidents here. She learned to use our dog door and uses it independently. Josie is kennel trained and loves her kennel. She may jump a bit on you when you get home but she is learning not to. Josie knows sit. Leash | Josie seems like she hasn't had much experience on a leash and is learning what to do on a leash. Activity Level | Josie has a lot of energy when she first sees you but is very calm any other time. She loves to run around outside and loves to cuddle on the couch. Josie doesn't seem like she has had experience much with toys but I'm sure she'll love toys when she understands that she can play with them.  Personality | Josie is such a happy dog. She is very sweet and LOVES cuddling. She will hop right into your lap if you let her. She will lick your face. She is very sweet with other dogs. As stated before she is timid at first around most people, places but she is quick to warm up. She is submissive and listens really well. She's a quick learner and I think she will be trained to any other behavior/routine easily.  Story | Josie belonged to a backyard breeder near Houston, TX. She was kept unattended in a barn. There was a barn fire where she lost her mother, and all siblings except one sister (Honey, also with mile high lab mission). Josie has scars across her body showing her sad past but they don't bother her.  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Puppies to 1 year - $425, 1-6 years - $375, 7-10 years - $325, and 11+ years - $175. She is house broken and loves to be outdoors. She likes going under things to explore, but not in a mischievous way. She has been an amazing mom in that she's caring, patient and protective, but not overly protective. She could benefit from learning how to play and some leash training, but she's very capable. General Notes | Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Health Notes | I'm being treated for a tick infection right now, but you would never know! They tell me I have to take some pills with these amazing treats for a couple weeks and then I'll be completely healed, but I feel just fine.  Other Dogs:  I am such a gentlemen!  I have no problem with other dogs.  I'm not sure I really know what it's like to "play" with other dogs, but I surely don't mind their company. I have no issues sharing toys with them, laying by them or getting treats at the same time as them.  Cats | My foster mom is unsure, as she doesn't have a cat Children | I love kids! They don't scare me at all with their sudden loud movements, I just play right along with them! I love when they give me snuggles and scratch behind my ears.  Training | I know a lot! I can sit, and shake, and fetch a ball and even know how to drop a toy that I mistook as my own! And I know that my bathroom is outside, and never inside the house.  Leash | love walks!  I am fabulous companion walking with a gentle leader.  I will walk right by your side and never pull.  I will sit and let you put my gentle leader on no problem!  I am a big boy and on these hot days need water on a big walk.  I will drink as you pour water in my mouth!  I'm a smart cookie.  Activity Level | I may be 8 years old, or so they say, but I can still keep up! I like to chase balls and toys, I like to chew on bones, and I don't mind lying down when my foster parents are at rest, I'll rest then too.  Personality I am a sweet, gentle buddy! I just want to be with my people and am so happy to not be in a kennel at a shelter anymore! I LOVE people and I love being able to roam about. I always have a wagging tail, and a smile on my big face, and I promise I won't lick you, unless you ask for it!  Story | I'm not really sure how I ended up in a shelter in Roswell, New Mexico, but I'm sure happy to not be there anymore and can't wait to start a new story in Colorado, this place is looking great already!  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.  Scott is now in Colorado! Health Notes | Healthy and neutered. Other Dogs | Scott got along great with his foster brothers while at his Texas foster. He loved to play and seemed to read other dogs well. Scott just wants to play with any dog he sees and would love to have a fur sibling in his new home! Cats | unknown Children | No children in the house, but I bet he loves them! He is a big, goofy boy, so he may knock small children over. However, he was very gentle with a neighbor's 3 year old while on a walk. He just wanted to kiss her. Training | Scott was found as a stray so he is a clean slate when it comes to training. He is very well behaved though. Scott just wants to please and be next to his people. He listens very well. Here in Colorado for just a few days and he has already learned to sit and is working hard on his other manners. Leash | We just started leash training and he is pretty good. He gets a little too excited to go meet other dogs right now, but he is getting there. Activity Level | Moderate. Scott does not seem to be a high energy, wild dog. He is happy chilling next to someone, but can certainly rally! He loves to play in water from the hose and to play ball fetch for as long as you are willing to throw. Afterwards, he just relaxes near his people. He thinks he is a lap dog and is also glad to be a foot warmer. Great WFH pup! Personality | Scott is SO sweet and loving. He really just wants to please you and be loved. He wants to be with his people at all times and needs another dog in the home to help him feel safe and to teach him how to dog. He is not the type of dog to misbehave for the sake of misbehaving, he does not want to get in trouble. All you ned to do is look at Scott and his tail wags. We are working on crate training, as of now, he has learned it is a place to check for treats and happily goes in and out to look. However, he is still learning that the crate is a safe place to be. He sleeps on the floor in the bedroom and does fine through the night. Story | Scott was found as a stray with his brother, Clifford. In TX. Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Puppies to 1 year - $425, 1-6 years - $375, 7-10 years - $325, and 11+ years - $175. Purebreds are $475 regardless of age. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $600 per dog). MHLRM will cover the expense of treatment with one of our approved veterinarians. Heartworm positive dogs go on to live happy, normal lives after treatment and rarely experience long-term side effects. He takes his medicine with food no problem. Don't let this stop you from adopting Effie/Ellie!  Other Dogs | Good. Non-reactive to other dogs on walks.  Cats | Not tested Children | Toddler/Kid Friendly. Very calm mannered around my toddler but does LOVE his stuffed animals. Training | Working on Basic commands; sit stay etc. No accidents in the house except for the first day. Ellie sleeps through the night but does not have full access of the house unattended. She is crate trained but would prefer to free roam. Leash I  Does tend to pull or zig/zag when walking with companion dogs. But She has been wonderful walking solo!  Activity Level | Moderate Personality |  Ellie is a very sweet and affectionate little lady. She is eager to please and loves her people. She wants to be around or near you at all times. She will let you know when she wants some attention by using her paw. She has settled in nicely with our dog and has helped in protecting the house from amazon deliveries. An apartment situation might be too much due to her loud bark but She will make a very loyal companion.  Story |  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | LOVES KIDS, Loves dogs, Loves lounging at home, and loves long walks to the Dog Park! Sweet, aloof at first, then follows you everywhere! Loves attention, but not needy. Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Health Notes | Hope is heartworm positive. MHLRM will cover the expense of treatment with one of our approved veterinarians. Heartworm positive dogs go on to live happy, normal lives after treatment and rarely experience long-term side effects. She takes her medicine with food no problem. Don't let this stop you from adopting Hope! She also had itchy ears, but not an infection (no smell).  I cleaned her ears twice and it seems to have helped significantly. Other Dogs | Great with dogs in her foster home! Totally non aggressive with other dogs. Went to a dog park, did a lot of sniffing, started playing chase a little bit wth other dogs. Always smiling, no problems at all. Cats | inital meeting went well, need more exposure to be sure Children | Great with kids!!!  LOVES them!! Training | Rides well in a vehicle, very calm. Working on learning basic commands. Doesn't respond to her name, I have started calling her Honey because she is so sweet. Making good progress regarding going potty outside on a leash!  Leash | Walking well on a leash. Sometimes circles (wraps me up) but is easily redirected. Is interested in rabbits and squirrels, but not unmanageable. I think this won't be hard to overcome. Activity Level | She was described as eneretic but she has been super mellow in foster home. Started playing chase a little bit with other dogs at the dog park, and plays with her 4 foster siblings. Hope would do best in a house with lots of activity since she does not like to be alone.  She likes to be around people and lay in the same room while you work from home.  Kenneling is not her favorite and will bark and scratch until she settles down and has been known to get out of a metal kennel.  When she is outside in the yard, she likes to have access to her people either through a doggy door or being with her.   Personality | Sweet, aloof at first, then follows you everywhere! Loves attention, but not needy. Loves sniffing on walks, makes a cute little engine noise when she is deep in a sniff. She would LOVE a home with kids and a yard and a TALL fence, or someone who is with her a lot.  Story | She came from Arkansas a "rough" situation. She has some scars but is totally non aggressive.   She had no desire to leave the dog park, and is happy to hang out with me and my dog on the  patio, but she doesn't want to hang out solo, she will go looking for you!  She even jumped the fence to come to look for her foster by the front door.  She does have anxiety being left alone so we do well with a patient family with lots of kids and people always around. Ranger is an adventurous pup who would make a great hiking/walking partner.  Loves exploring his yard or the greenbelt....bet he'd love the mountains. Health Notes | Ranger had Demodex which is a loss of hair....all of his hair has regrown but he is still filling in a little around his eyes and a little on his legs.  The Demodex has been cured.  He is putting on weight now that he is out of the shelter situation....currently up to 23 pounds from 15 pounds. Dogs: Ranger loves other dogs but because of growing up in a shelter, Ranger needs to be around a dog that teaches him boundaries.  He loves to run with my lab/ aussie but gets a little wild when they run.  He needs a dog that will put him in his place a bit. Cats |Ranger's original foster mum does not have cats but he ran into one at the vet's office and tried to play with it.  Children | I do not have young children but live on a street with kids.  He loves to watch.  Training | Ranger is good on recall and sit.  He walks fairly well on a leash with some cross over which is really good for a pup of his age.  He is very treat motivated and is taking treats nicely.  He sleeps all night in his kennel without a peep.....what a good pup.  I am currently working on stay which is a work in progress.    Ranger is doing pretty well on potty training.....he rarely has accidents now.  He still has the puppy tendency to want to chew on me when he gets tired. Leash | He is doing well on his leash Activity Level | Happy and playful, loves walks and adventures.  Personality |  He is a happy pup with lots of energy.  Loves people and goes right up to them. Story | Ranger ended up at a high kill shelter with his mum and siblings. His siblings were adopted out, leaving mum and Ranger behind and at risk of being euthanized. Mile High saved both and brought them to Colorado. Thank you! | Thanks for checking out Ranger's profile.  Please contact your coordinator if you have questions.  I believe, with some more training, this pup will grow up to be a fantastic companion and adventurer.
