General Notes | Happy, hoppy, Harper is the most wonderful six year old gal looking for life's next great adventure. After being surrendered in Texas after her owner passed away, Harper has made her way to Mile High life, and can't wait to find her forever family to explore the mountains and lakes with! Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Harper is SO sweet, and so playful! She loves being around her humans and furry friends, and is having a blast playing ball in the yard, going for walks, and being out on adventures! Harper also loves to swim!! Story | Harper found herself at the shelter in Houston, Texas after her owner passed away. The shelter contacted Mile High, hoping we could break her out and we got her, along with her siblings, Ivy and Willow! She is settled into her foster home wonderfully and is doing well as she continues to adapt to the good life!  Health Notes | Good. Harper will need regular grooming, at least every 2 months. Her hair will mat if not regularly brushed and groomed. Other Dogs | Harper came into the shelter with two dog siblings, and does wonderfully with other dogs! She would be great in a home with other pups and is happy to play with them, but equally happy to rest and hang on her own. She enjoys time with friends, but knows self care matters, too!  Cats | Harper has not been cat tested so the rescue is unsure of how she would do with a kitty friend.  Children | Harper has not been around young children in her current foster home, but given her wonderful demeanor, her foster assumes she will probably do fine. So far, Harper hasn't met someone she hasn't been in love with yet!  Training | Not sure of training, but she does know how to sit nicely for treats, is a great car traveler and good with leash. Leash | Harper walks wonderfully on a leash, and would greatly enjoy finding a forever family that likes to go on morning walks and sunset strides.  Activity Level | Medium. General Notes | Fluffy is a sweet, playful, growing girl who can't wait to find her forever family in Colorado! She does well with other dogs, kids, and in her play/sleep/play rotation! Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Fluffy is an 11 week old lab-mix with a lot of spunk. We believe she’ll do well in an active home where she can be part of family activities. I will need some patience and love to conquer my fears but will surely blossom into a wonderful loving dog with time.   Story | I came from Texas and was living with a lot of dogs. We were living outside amongst trash and debris and were confiscated from our owner.  MHLM brought us here live the Colorado life.  I have some scars on my body but am ready to put the past behind me and trust humans.   Other Dogs | I have lived my whole life with other dogs and find comfort in having them around. I've also been in foster homes with other dogs and though I'm not playful quite yet I love having them around.  I'm happy to share toys, food, water with my foster siblings.   Cats | I haven't met a cat but my foster mom says I am a gentle soul and haven't shown signs of prey drive so would most likely do well with a dog friendly kitty. Children | I don't have any kiddos in my foster home. I can get spooked by loud noises and fast movements but am sweet and submissive so would likely love kids once I get to know them.  I will just need some time to feel comfortable. Training | I know to do my business outside and LOVE my crate!!!!  🎉🎉 My crate is my safe space and I am perfectly content in the crate when my foster parents leave the house for a while. I am quiet and don't bark.  I am the perfect car rider and will just lay down or sit taking in the world around me.   I've recently started working with a trainer to help me build confidence.  Leash l I really enjoy going on walks. I do get nervous and can get spooked by noises but recover quickly. I love to run and my foster mom thinks I would be a great a running buddy.  I would love to go on hikes in these big beautiful Colorado mountains. ⛰️ I also love meeting the neighbor dogs on walks!! Activity Level | I'm a pretty mellow guy as I'm learning this new life isn't so scary. Health Notes | I am Heartworm negative, neutered, and up to date on vaccines!! Thank you! |  Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $525. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $700 per dog). Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only.  To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. General Notes | Zoe is a young, athletic, and adventurous lab who can't wait to frisbee, hike, and swim the weekends away with you, and spend the afternoon snuggled up on the couch! This sweet girl is only 11 months old, and deserves the best life in colorful Colorado! Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Zoe is sweet and adoring, happy to play and bounce around! Her foster says: She would be a great frisbee dog! She would catch every toss if I could only throw it right.  Knows sit and usually brings the frisbee right back and drops it. She walks great on a leash. Stays right by my side. Zoe has some training but don't think shes been exposed to much so she did bark at people and bikes on our walks. Was very timid when I first picked her up at shelter and is afraid to get out of my vehicle. No problem getting into vehicle though and rides well in the car. Zoe does want to be near me at all times but kenneled her last night about 2.5 hours when we were out. She was fine when we came back. Gave her bath with no problems. Think she is housebroken but wants to get on furniture. Gets down when told. She is a VERY smart, active dog so needs a active furever home. Story | Zoe was pulled from a shelter in Texas and is is currently residing in foster prior to making her way to Colorado! This girl has seen and experienced a lot in her 11 months of life, and MHLM is hopeful that this next chapter is full of a lot more love, snuggles, play, and treats! Other Dogs | Zoe has been temp tested with other dogs and has done well.  Cats | Zoe has not been cat tested so the rescue is unsure of how she would do with cats. Proper introductions are important!  Children | Zoe as not been around young children, but seems to like older kiddos and all adults - she's never met someone who isn't a friend!  Training | Zoe knows "sit" and is house trained. Zoe's training will continue to progress as she settles into foster and explore what life will look like now!  Leash | Zoe is your typical lab on a leash - excitable and happy! She is a bit all over the place, but that should improve with time and training.  Activity Level | Moderate. Zoe is a young, active lab, with young, active energy! This spunky girl loves to run, play, and explore!  Health Notes |  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | Finn is the total package - trained, playful, ready to learn and please, and a great pal for a cozy afternoon couch hang. Finn has a professional training history, and continues to do well in adapting! Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Hello! I'm Finn. If you prefer your dogs the same way you take your coffee - strong, sweet, and cream colored - look no further! I am stunning, I know, but I swear I'm also humble as I am kind. I am a big boy, yes, but don't let my size scare you! I am a lover and just want to be where you are! Much like coffee, I'll be the best start to your day and will keep you motivated, happy, and smiling all day long with me in your home! Finn 1: https://youtube.com/shorts/FQ9xbt5WXFQ?feature=share  Finn 2: https://youtube.com/shorts/gebIodxgFDs?feature=share Story | I was sadly brought into a high-kill Houston shelter and no one came to claim me. I lucked out, though, as I ended up in CO and have spent time in some amazing foster homes! I'd love to have a family to be a part of, so we can keep writing my story together. If you are feeling like you're missing something in life, maybe that's me? I'd love to meet you to see! Other Dogs  I can live with other dogs as long as I am introduced properly and you're able to calmly navigate the adjustment period. I had a rough go of things originally and am just a little nervous I'll be given up on again! Cats | Not sure - I don't know if I've met any!? I like to chase bunnies so cats may be too tempting for me! Children | loves kids and is very gentle.  Training | I'm smart as I am handsome! I am quickly learning basic commands and will sit for a treat. Not to brag, but I learned how to use the doggy door within the first hour of arriving at my foster home - which is kind of a big deal. I don't mind being crated, and enjoy a good car ride now and then! As a bonus, because everyone I've met has such faith in me and cannot understand why on earth I haven't been adopted yet - My new family will get to take advantage of my upcoming board and train in February! I am so hopeful my new family can attend my go-home review course with my trainer at Fusion Dog Training Leash | I enjoy going out for walks and am not afraid of a leash. Do I pull a little when excited? Obviously. Can I be corrected easily? Also, yes. I want to please so will look to my human for cues! Activity Level | Medium. I am a playful, active lab. I will do best in a home with an active lifestyle. I understand when it is time to chill out and enjoy snoozing in a dog bed (or people bed? Could we make that happen!?). I can take on many forms in a given day. One minute I can be lightning fast, splashing in a puddle. The next, I can be found serving as a speed bump in the living room. I do read cues well, but will be my best self when I've been given some good exercise and attention each day! Health Notes | I am heartworm positive, but, treatment is very successful and completely manageable with all the proper education! MHLRM will cover the expense of treatment at one of our approved veterinarians. Heartworm positive dogs go on to live happy, normal lives after treatment and rarely experience long-term side effects. Don't let this stop you from adopting me - I'm worth taking a chance on, I promise! Thank you! |  Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | Sweet Mama Honey (who had a whopping 10 puppies on the streets a few months ago!) is ready for the good life in Colorado. This girl is quiet, house trained, calm, and loves to get pets and be near her people. She is as sweet as her name, and great in her pen! Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Honey's foster says she is the most loving, patient, calm, and wonderful gal. She is quiet as a mouse, adoring of pets and attention, and is great with both people and other dogs. She truly is a gem, and will make the most wonderful addition to a family! Story | Honey was rescued after being found living on the streets in Texas just as she started giving birth to her puppies. A local individual noticed how pregnant she was, and MHLM jumped into action, locating her just days after she gave birth to 10 sweet little babies! She has been in a Texas based foster home, and now that her puppies are grown and ready to start their next adventure, Honey gets to, too!  Other Dogs | Honey does wonderfully with other dogs, and great along great with pups of all sizes. She would do well in a home independently, or with a pup pal!  Cats | Honey has not been cat tested, but her foster thinks she could do well with a proper introduction. It's unknown at present!  Children | Honey loves little humans, and would do well with kiddo siblings, as long as they understand boundaries and give lots of snuggles and kisses! Training | Honey has been SO busy being a mama, she hasn't had much time for training. Honey's training is in progress, but she is house trained, pen trained, and does well when left alone.  Leash | Honey walks decently on a leash - your typical lab, but with a bit more of a mosey!  Activity Level | Low to moderate. It depends on the day and the moment! Health Notes | Honey is heartworm positive, but treatment is very successful and completely manageable with all the proper education. MHLRM will cover the expense of treatment at one of our approved veterinarians. Heartworm positive dogs go on to live happy, normal lives after treatment and rarely experience long-term side effects. General Notes | Looking for your own golden gal to sip a drink on the patio with? A sweetheart who is always at your side? Goldy may be just what you need to fufill all of your lab and love dreams! Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | So very sweet - truly a golden girl! She loves to just sit with you and get pets and scratches. If you are getting things done around the house, Goldy is there to supervise or help as needed! Sous chef? Bathroom attendent? Need a dog to make sure you are separating your colors and whites? Goldy is there. Don't let her age fool you. She is a spry and happy girl! She has clearly lived in a home before  Story | Goldy was in large, over capacity shelter and was at risk of being euthanized.  MHLRM could not let this sweet girl end her days in a shelter so we grabbed her and now she is in Colorado getting ready for her next adventure!  Goldy is an absolute sweetheart.  She loves everyone and is happy to be near you and enjoys affection.   Other Dogs | Goldy thinks hanging out with friends is just fine. She's not sure about her more rambunctious foster brother, but tolerates his shenanigans like a respectable lady. She could exist as your one and only or with another respectable dog friend Cats | Unsure ... there is a good chance she could hang with a feline friend given her personality Children | It's very clear Goldy would love to be a part of a famiy and part of the action.  Training | Goldy seems like she has had some training in the past. She rides great in the car (she hops right in!) and sits nicely for treats. She is very food motivated! She feels like you can teach old dogs new tricks with the right snacks. She is housetrained and seem uninterested in items that don't belong to her (except whatever meal you might be eating). She prefers to keep her walks for sniffing and to do her business in her fenced yard. She puts herself to bed in her pen at night and not a peep until it's morning (and breakfast time -- her favorite start to the day) Leash | Good on leash as long as she's getting a sufficient number of sniffs. Easy to walk and enjoyed a good pace in the neighborhood Activity Level | Low to moderate -- would love a short adventure followed by a nice nap. No issues with stairs - she takes them two at a time! Health Notes | Goldy is heartworm positive, but treatment is very successful and completely manageable with all the proper education. MHLRM will cover the expense of treatment at one of our approved veterinarians. Heartworm positive dogs go on to live happy, normal lives after treatment and rarely experience long-term side effects. Jacksonville / Tadaaki / Maggie

General Notes | Looking for a smart, adventurous, and loyal companion? Hoping to have a dog that can hike in the morning and snuggle on the couch in the afternoon? Tadaaki is your gal! Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Hi there! My name is Tadaaki and I am sure glad that you stopped by to read more about me! I am one sweet, good natured girl, and whatever you're into, I'm into! I'm a total pocket pal and am happy to hang wherever you are. Whether we're out adventuring, going for a morning walk, or working on the couch from home, I'm ready! Want to go for a hike? I'll grab my off-roading harness. Neighborhood watch more your thing? A spot on the porch next to you with doggy-sized binoculars has my name all over it - I am a cuddle bug. Need a day or night in to watch TV and relax? No need for a blanket - I'll make myself at home snuggled up next to you! I love attention, and am so grateful to no longer be foraging for my own food or having to look over my shoulder instead of getting a good night's rest. I just want to be loved, and will give you, my new family, all the love I have in return for a good home, the ability to get out and enjoy the sunshine, and the safety and security I need to thrive. And food. Obviously food. I LOVE food and treats and jerky. I am great on the leash, and I love walks and hikes. In just one day at my foster home I learned how to use the doggie door! I love the back yard and let myself in and out - its pretty sweet. I am working on crate training in small bits during the day, but at night I prefer to sleep with my people. I am a dream on a leash, super easy in the home and I love car rides. But, when everyone leaves the house I do get sad due to my past and will need patience and reassurance from my new family to ease my fear around being separated from them! I am learning about crate training during the day right now - and learning that my people always come back to me. I aim to please, and help - and am looking for someone who wants all the love I can give.  Story | I'm a proud mama to 11 puppies. I know, I don't look it AT ALL (this is when you nod in agreement, thank you very much!) but I'm not like a regular mom, I'm a cool mom. My babies and I were found as strays and taken to a shelter in TX. This should tell you a lot about me - that I was able to birth this many puppies alone and make sure we all were not only saved, but stayed healthy and looked after during the process. I am loyal to my own, and now that my job as sole caregiver for my babies has concluded, won't you let me care for you and your family!? Other Dogs | I've met some other rescue dogs while in TX and now in CO and have been great with them. I don't need a furry sibling to thrive, although if you have one or two already, a slow introduction in a neutral space where you take things at my pace would sure be appreciated. I am currently living in a house with a chill yellow lab, and it has been great!!! I needed about 30 minutes to decompress when I met him and we have been best buddies ever since. I just want a pack to be a part of (doggie or human) and to know I'm safe. Cats | I've not been around any friendly felines to be sure, but, I sure can keep squirrels away from my yard and chase any thinking about coming into it quickly so I may have a bit of a prey drive for small and fast moving furry creatures. Children | I have not spent a great deal of time with kids directly, but I've not been bothered by kids next door jumping on a trampoline! Training | We've discussed my beauty already, so as for my brains, I'm a total package so it shouldn't come as a surprise that I am house trained and do not need much reminding when being shown new tricks or things. I'm working on basic commands, but am a fast learner.  I'm very food motivated which makes training a breeze as well. I don't love peanut butter though, so maybe double up on the cheese or jerky for me before a training sesh, please!?  Leash | I aim to please, and even though walking on a leash is new to me, I've picked it up quickly and I am really good at it, (can I say that I'm a fast learner!?) I don't pull and walk right by my people.  Activity Level I'm up for most things - walks, sniffaris, hikes, exploring new places, etc. and am learning that it's ok to be a dog - and what that looks like! I've been in mom-mode for awhile, although am getting my groove back while also getting my figure back (amen to no longer weaning, am I right ladies!?) I am so loyal and loving - and also very concerned that I am going to be left behind, if I'm being honest. Bonus - if you make sure I get out during the day and get some exercise with you, guess who will sleep through the whole night next to you without making a peep or needing to get up!? This lady right here!  Health Notes | I have some light dermatitis but my hair will grow back strong and gorgeous as ever. Now that my puppies have been weaned, all nutrients I take in go straight to nourishing and optimizing my health, and I am already a healthy girl so I can only imagine the health benchmarks I'll crush going forward! Thank you! |  Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | With his salt and pepper face, calm and kind demeanor, and adaptability, this boy couldn't be better, and will be an absolute dream for a Colorado family! Max is a gentle, laid back guy! He enjoys hanging out with his human companions and getting pets. He also loves to go on walks and take in the sights and smells! He gets along fabulously with other dogs and greets them with gentle sniffs and soft tail wags. Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Max is sweet as pie! He enjoys hanging out with his foster family and getting pets. He also loves to go on walks and take in the sights and smells! He gets along fabulously with other dogs and greets them with gentle sniffs and soft tail wags.  Although he is a senior, he is still spry, curious, and eager to join in whatever activities you're doing!  Story | Max, Rudy, Jake and Rocky have a very sad story. They were abandoned in the streets by their owners, and when contacted to let them know their 4 senior dogs were at the shelter, the owners said they no longer want them. Unfortunately this put them at immediate risk of euthanasia at the shelter due to their age and limited capacity. They were then rescued by MHLRM. Other Dogs | Max is friendly with other dogs. He doesn't play but is content being around them and likes to snuggle with his foster siblings. He would love a doggie buddy but would also do well as an only dog. Cats | Unknown Children | Sweet and gentle with kids and likes to follow them around in his foster home. Training | House trained, crate trained, and well-mannered. He also does great free roam while his foster family is away from the house. He's great in the car as well   Leash | Does not mind the leash. Walks nicely beside you and occasionally stops for sniffs.  Activity Level | Medium-low. Still young enough to go on a walk or hike but no longer a crazy hyper Labrador 😉  Health Notes | Max is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm NEGATIVE!  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Not only does Leo have the looks, but he is such a  gentleman. He did great meeting a cat and had zero negative reactions.  He also did amazing meeting a dog. He sleeps in his kennel at the shelter and it totally relaxed. Like who is able to sleep and be so calm with all those dogs barking?  Story | He arrived at the shelter as a stray.  The shelter workers love this guy...he is calm, chill and has very nice manners.  Here is what one of them had to say about Leo - "I love Leo. When I walked up to his kennel he was sound asleep with his tongue hanging out. I felt like I couldn't wake him up because he looks so cute. After a little while I kind of shook the door and he woke up and then turned over on his back to let me give him some belly rubs."  He also experienced the Houston snow storm and he loved it!  He is ready to be a Colorado dude! Other Dogs | He did great meeting othter dogs at the shelter. Cats | He walked right by  a cat without any kind of reaction.   Children |  Training | So far, he has mastered "SIT". Leash | He walks really  well on a leash. Activity Level |  Health Notes | Leo is  heartworm positive, but treatment is very successful and completely manageable with all the proper education. MHLRM will cover the expense of treatment at one of our approved veterinarians. Heartworm positive dogs go on to live happy, normal lives after treatment and rarely experience long-term side effects. Don't let this stop you from adopting this handsome boy! Personality | Rosie loves other dogs and loves to play in the water! She's up for any adventure, but also great at relaxing at home and getting her beauty rest. She enjoys life and is one of the happiest girls!    Story | This girl was found as a stray in Arkansas. We have no idea on her backstory but we are so glad we were able to save her!    Other Dogs | Rosie absoultely loves other dogs, plays very well with all types and is a great "dog's dog." She's currently in a foster home with 5 other dogs and fits in well!    Cats | unknown on cats   Children | There are no children in the current foster home but we can't imagine Rosie wouldn't love the littles. She doesn't jump too much and she's not overly energetic, we could see her being fine in a home with kids.   Training | No formalized training but it seems like this girl has been in a home somewhere before. She doesn't have many bad habits and is potty trained.   Leash | Rosie walks great on the leash. She pulls a little, but that's because she's a lab. A harness would be perfect for her.   Activity Level | Medium activity level. Rosie can play but also relax at home when it is time to chill. Rosie also LOVES to play fetch!    Health Notes |    Thank you! | Thank you to Patty for saving her in Arkansas!    Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age.
