General Notes | Spork is as cuddly, sweet, and wonderful as puppies come! His foster family absolutely adores him, and has found that he has the most wonderful demeanor - he's smart, respectful, and inquisitive! Spork currently resides with a lab foster brother, and two little dog foster siblings (whom he adores and plays with as they will allow it). He's great with dogs of all sizes, and is learning to follow their lead and their cues. He has met the neighbor’s cat and was curious and excited by him, but kept his distance, respecting her space. He does well following the lead of his foster family, and is mindful of routine. He likes sleeping in his crate, enticing his sister and lab foster brother in play, and taking midday naps with the family dogs. Spork is about as cuddly as they come, and loves to snuggle with both his foster parents and furry foster siblings. He spends his days sleeping on foster dad's toes as he works, curled up on the couch, or in the bed next to his lab foster brother. He adores kiddos, and would be happy to have a family that likes cuddles and games of chase too! Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP. Personality | Spork is is adventurous, curious, and very mindful; very demure. He is observant, following the lead of the pack, and is adoring of both his foster parents and anyone who is looking for cuddles! His foster family is still getting to know him, but thinks he has a pretty typical lab demeanor, and sees him getting up to typical puppy shenanigans! He likes to explore, get toys and chase them around the house, play tug, and already knows where the crate is/when it is time for a nap. Story | Spork and his seven siblings were rescued off the euthanasia list in Houstin, TX, as a large two week old litter. He was placed with a foster in TX for three weeks before making his way to Colorado to live a great life of adventure! He is sweet, well socialized now, and so excited to continue to grow and learn. Other Dogs | Spork does great with both big and small dogs, and is playful but respectful! When his Chihuahua foster siblings growl or set the tone that they don’t want to be messed with, he rolls over or walks away. He is great at reading the room, and knowing their boundaries. He likes to snuggle, follows his foster siblings around, and encourages them in play by dropping toys at their feet. Cats | Spork has only met one cat and was curious. His fosters think he would do great with a kitty sibling. Children | Spork loves little humans of all ages and sizes! He would be awesome with kiddos of all ages as long as they are gentle and kind. He will need continuous training as he grows. Training | Spork's training is in progress. He's working on potty training (we’re almost there!!), basic commands, and is also sleeping in a crate at night and throughout the day! He has already learned sit, is walking on a leash, and follows his foster sibling’s cues for additional rules around the house. Leash | Spork is learning about leash walking with his fosters, and will work on it more as time progresses. He likes walks with his lab foster brother, but gets a little nervous walking independently. Activity Level | Moderate - typical puppy energy but loves to play, sleep, and play some more! Health Notes | Thank you! | Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $525. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $700 per dog). Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page! We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved. Your application is good for 90 days from the time of approval for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle.
