General Notes | Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Health Notes |  Other Dogs | My original foster said that I am great with other dogs and puppies, and I would have to agree! As long as I am approached gently, and slowly, I make friends quickly and love to play! Cats | I am not exactly sure what a cat is.  I am very sweet and gentle though. Children | My original foster from Arkansas said I am good with children. Training | So I have this house training thing mastered.  I have not had one accident in either foster home. I have also been crated for one hour increments and done fantastic as well as being left out for 45 minute increments.  My foster parents leave music on for me or the television as well as giving me a few treats before they leave which helps me settle. I am looking for a family that works from home or one that is home a lot.  I don't want to be crated for a long 8 to 9 hour day. Leash | I LOVE my walks and am amazing on the leash if I do say so myself. I don't pull and I appreciate being allowed to get my sniffs in. I also do great in the car. Activity Level |  I enjoy my chill time but love my playtime just as much! I am good at entertaining myself with chew toys and just hanging with my family. I pretty much go with the flow. Personality | I pretty much get along with everyone. I just like to be approached calmly, so I don't get scared. But hey, who wouldn't? Story | so I have been told that I was picked up wandering the streets with a buddy and fostered in Arkansas for a little bit. I was then transported to Colorado where I have been with my new foster family for almost a week.I am getting so much love and giving ample time to adjust. Loving the Colorado lifestyle! I did my first hike last weekend and loved it! The views here are amazing! Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $475. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $700 per dog). Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only.  To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. General Notes | Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.  Gummy Bear is a very sweet and kind pup. He likes to take things slow. He's not quite sure what it's like to live inside. Seems to have never experienced stairs, but is brave enough to try. He sleeps all night on the floor in our bedroom or downstairs on our couch. He hasn't had any accidents in the house. He signals he wants out by standing by the door. He likes to be outside to sun bathe and roam. He's curious about squirrels but didn't take after them. He free roams the house while we're away and has had no issues. If needed, he takes a gentle push to go into the kennel but does not whine or bark when inside. Health Notes | Gummy Bear is heartworm positive. MHLRM will cover the expense of treatment with one of our approved veterinarians. Heartworm positive dogs go on to live happy, normal lives after treatment and rarely experience long-term side effects. He takes his medicine with food no problem. Don't let this stop you from adopting Gummy Bear!  Other Dogs | He is good around other dogs. He lets them sniff him and wags his tail. Tends to not be a follower and likes to venture on his own. Not quite sure how to play.  Cats | Not sure.  Children | Not sure.  Training | Does not know any commands Leash | Walks gently on a leash. Needs some training when passing other dogs.  Activity Level | He's pretty low energy and likes to sleeps most of the day. He enjoys small walks in the morning and afternoon.  Personality | Curious but cautious. Sweet and Kind. He allows you to approach and pet him, but doesn't come to you.  Story | Not sure.  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age. Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Health Notes | No concerns. Lucy is happy and healthy! Other Dogs | Lucy LOVES other dogs. She is a respectful playmate and would do well in a home with or without other dogs. Cats | Unsure. Children | Would be better in a house with older children or no children since she loves the zoomies.  Training | Lucy is a SMART pup! Her previous owner spent a lot of resources to make sure she is a well behaved puppy and she knows a number of commands (sit, down, stay). Lucy has completed a private board and train program as well as multiple one on one sessions. She has zero behavior issues and loves to please her people! Leash | GREAT! She will heel next to you under command.  Activity Level | Active, playful, likes to work. Lucy is a young lab mix that thrives when exercised.  Personality | This girl is as sweet and goofy as they come. She loves people and exploring the world around her. Lucy is happiest when going on walks or hikes with her family; she loves to sniff anything and everything! She makes a great brewery pup too! No matter how you spend your day, Lucy will be happy to share it with you.  Story | Lucy was born into MHLRM and adopted as a young puppy. Unfortunately, her previous adopter experienced several life changes and could no longer provide Lucy with the care and affection she deserves. She was surrendered back to MHLRM for personal reasons and has zero behavior issues. General Notes | Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Other Dogs | Tato is wonderful around other dogs. He is patient and gentle. Tato loves to share the couch or bed with his foster sibs! I know he would like to play with them, but is painful.  Cats | No exposure. Children | Very sweet. Tato loves everyone! His happy tail maybe right at the toddle face height, and he is a tail wagger.  Training | Tato is crate trained but is otherwise a blank slate. Foster mom is teaching him basic commands like sit and down. He's also learning to stay out of the kitchen. He does not need to be crated when left alone. He is happy laying on a soft bed or the couch 😉 . Know Sit, laydown and come at this point. He has great leash manners too Leash | He walks well on a leash.  Activity Level | Tato got his name because he is a couch potato 🥔 He will play for a bit but is perfectly content to lay at your feet most of the day. Personality | Tato is a sweet boy. He loves all humans and greets you with big tail wags and a smile.  Tato is defined as: Big happy boy who loves couch (and lounging in general). Tato is a big boy with all the love to give, he is extremly happy to see you every morning, coming home or just when you walk in the room. He is not a jumper, but he will crawl in your lab while you are sitting on the couch if you let him. He shows his happy love with big tail wags and smiles!  Loves to eat -- what lab doesnt right? Using kibble for treats works really well for him.  He is 100% house trained, he does not fit through the foster home's doggie door, but will wait by the door to be let out. He does know sit, lay down, and come. An amazing walker on a leash -- walker -- not runner. He is still hurting so we are resting more days. In his recent vey visit is crawled in the vets lab while the vet sat on the floor and gave all the kisses -- he really does love everyone. He has just started to play and chew on doggy toys, so he does like toys.  Health Notes | Tato is heartworm positive. MHLRM will cover the expense of treatment with one of our approved veterinarians. Heartworm positive dogs go on to live happy, normal lives after treatment and rarely experience long-term side effects. He takes his medicine with food no problem. Don't let this stop you from adopting Tato!  Tato does have some limping in his front legs which is being treated now. Currently rest and pain meds while he recovers, but everyday he is a little better. More to come on this treatment. He is such a good boy when you look at his ouchy spots.. you know he doesnt like it and it hurts by his face, but still lets you look at it.  Story | Tato found himself in a Texas shelter after wandering the streets of Houston. He was limping and scraped, most likely hit by a car. Injured dogs do not last long in high-kill shelters. MHLRM fell in love with his big smile and helicopter tail wags. We are excited for him to fully recover and live a wonderful life as a Mile High Lab! Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age. Monte Carlo is a DREAM DOG, though I've been calling him Astro (since he's from Houston). He rode in the car really well, just laid down and didn't make a peep. He's housebroken and crate trained. Walks well on a leash. Does not chase my 3 cats. Plays well with the neighbor dogs.  He's pretty independent and will just lay down and chew on a bone or play with toys. He knows sit and stay - down and shake he just doesn't get. If you want a puppy that acts like a 1 year old, this is THE ONE. He's perfect. And super sweet and affectionate too. His left ear is a little wonky, but that just gives him character.  :) General Notes | Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Health Notes |  Other Dogs |  Cats |  Children |  Training |  Leash |  Activity Level |  Personality |  Story |  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | If you are looking for a handsome and easygoing dog,Teddy is your man. He respects your boundaries and will come to you for snuggles but takes hints when you are busy. He sleeps quietly through the night and has not had any accidents in the house. He's a gentleman! Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Health Notes | Teddy is heartworm positive. MHLRM will cover the expense of treatment with one of our approved veterinarians. Heartworm positive dogs go on to live happy, normal lives after treatment and rarely experience long-term side effects. He takes his medicine with food no problem. Don't let this stop you from adopting Teddy!  Other Dogs | Teddy likes to greet other dogs, but mostly he wants to be with his people. Cats |  Children |  Training | He stays with you when walking and will come when called. He is learning to sit and is very easily re-directed when there is something you don't want him to do. Leash | He listens well and is great on and off the leash. Activity Level |He willingly will join your 3 mile hike, but he is also happy hanging out at home, going for occassional walks. He is such an easy dog to please and is a very go with the flow type personality. Personality | Teddy would be a great first dog for an individual or a family. He would also be great addition for a laidback furry friend sibling, in an apartment or house. He rides great in the car and is willing to join your hike, head to the dog park, sit at a brewery or take naps--whatever you want to do--Teddy is in!  Story |    Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Puppies to 1 year - $425, 1-6 years - $375, 7-10 years - $325, and 11+ years - $175. My foster moms say I'm a "very sweet, beautiful, happy, lovey girl". I love food but I'm not food aggressive. I sometimes grab a shoe to play but will leave it alone if you tell me. I want to be the best girl, I just need to learn! Story | I'm a stray from rural New Mexico and then right to the shelter I went. I took a ride up to Colorado with my other shelter friends and now here I am! I'm learning how to be in a house and I really love all the free food and love I'm getting. General Notes |  Meet little Libby (Libra)! This adorable 4-month-old (100% Labradoodle) may only weigh 26 lbs. but she’s full of affectionate personality! Read on - she has so many positive attributes she wants you to know about!  Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Health Notes | Healthy and Happy! Other Dogs | Great!  My foster brother has taught me a lot of things about being a good dog, and I respect his lead. I would love to have another dog or children around to play with, but that doesn’t mean I have to have them in my new home. Cats | No exposure. She would most likely do well with a cat if properly introduced. Children | Good with kids. Libby loves everyone! Training | I know how to sit, how to fetch (yes, I know how to fetch already!), how to wait at the door without running out, and I’m really excited to see what you want to teach me.  I’m trying really hard to let you know when I have to go to the bathroom, but if you’ll be patient with me and give me consistent time outside in the potty-place, I’m smart enough to learn.  Leash | I love to go on walks and am working hard to stay focused to walk by your side, but do you know HOW MANY THINGS are outside to look at and to sniff?? I’m still young, so I promise to be a perfect little walker in no time! Activity Level | I’m the perfect balance of enthusiasm and chill. I play hard, then will fall asleep on the floor at your feet. You’ll love me, I’m sure! Will you let me love YOU? Personality |  I’m super-sweet, incredibly smart and very easy to correct. If I step out of line, just say “uh-uh” and I’ll get the picture. I’ve already moved out of my baby-puppy phase, so I won’t chew up your furniture or your shoes, unless you leave your things all over the floor. Give me a little toy, a ball, a stuffy and I’ll carry it around with me. Oh… and, I love cheese!!  I do have to have love & affection, so that’s what I'm really asking for. If you work from home, I won’t bark or be a nuisance. Give me some playtime a few times a day, then I’ll just stay by your side. If you walk across the room, I’ll follow you to see what you’re up to, but I can also just stay in my crate if you have to go out. I Story | Owner surrender litter of 7. Mom is AKC registered black lab and dad is AKC registered white standard poodle.  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | Meet sweet Frankie (Bristol)! This adorable 6-month-old (Lab and Golden Retriever) weighs in at 33 lbs, and he loves to use that full 33 lbs to snuggle and cuddle. He's so affectionate—a true velcro dog to his foster humans! Read on—he has so many positive attributes he wants you to know about!  Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Health Notes | Healthy and happy. Other Dogs | Great with his two giant breed foster brothers and loves to wrestle and play. He's shown no aggressions while playing with other dogs in the house or in the yard. Good with sharing toys and treats too. He would love to have another dog around to play with. Will need help learning his manners while greeting new dogs on leash.  Cats | No exposure. Children | Little exposure, but did a great job greeting and snuggling the kids he met at puppy yoga.  Training | Potty trained. Crate trained. Great at walking on leash. Loves a car ride, and usually falls asleep the whole time. Has had successful outings to public places like the brewery and puppy yoga. Learning basic commands and is very food motivated.  Leash | Loves to go on walks and does a great job walking by your side. Responds well to corrections and guidance on leash too. Will need some help learning how to greet new dogs while on leash.  Activity Level | So very laid back and chill. He loves to nap and snuggle. But also loves walk time and toy time too. He really perks up when meeting new people too, wagging his tail and giving hugs to whoever wants them. The perfect balance of enthusiasm and chill. Personality |  Sweet and chill, easy to correct, and responds well to a stern "No." At six months old, he's already past his baby-puppy phase, so he won’t chew up your furniture or your shoes, unless you leave your things all over the floor. Loves to play with a toy, a ball, or a stuffy. If you work from home, he won’t bark or be a nuisance; he has been an excellent, well behaved coworker to his foster mom who works from home. Give him some playtime a few times a day, and he'll just stay by your side. If you walk across the room, he'll follow you to see what you’re up to, but he can also just stay in his crate if you have to go out. General Notes | Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Equal parts snugglebug and goofball, Layla is a perfect dog for a forever home where she can play hard and snuggle hard. Very curious, very playful, very loving, and VERY food-motivated, which will help a lot with training! She clearly had been underfed before coming to her foster home, so we're working on getting her well-fed and healthy again. She loves to play with toys and chew on bones, wrestle and play with the other dog in her foster home, and most of all wants to be someone's shadow - she will follow her foster mama wherever she goes. She is also very loyal, and will definitely protect her humans whenever she can. She is doing well with crate training, and will happily and quietly stay there for almost 10 hours overnight. She has started doing leash training, and does well, although she doesn't seem to quite understand that she can't walk right where the human's feet are!  She is going to make her furever family very happy - she has so much love to give and she can't wait to explore Colorado with curiosity and excitement!
