We asked our sweet girl Astrid what she wants in her forever home:  ✅ Patience  ✅ Lots of love and pets She is a simple gal that is ready to finally feel safe and at home.    🤍 Astrid needs a patient home that will allow her to warm up to her new surroundings and feel confident that she is safe and loved. It took a few days before she let everyone in the home close to her, but now that she trusts, she has become foster mom’s shadow and enjoys pets from everyone and giving kisses.   🐾 Astrid has not been around other dogs or cats in her foster home. If she is like her sister Abby, she might do best with another dog who could show her how fun being a dog can be! She gets the zoomies and is happy to play with toys!   🏠 She has two loud kiddos in the home and even when she was timid she was always gentle with them. After just a few days, she is starting to let them pet her. The pictures of Astrid with the kiddos are so sweet!   🐾 She knows her name (Astrid is the name she had from her previous owner) and is working on ‘come’ but not any other commands. Her foster mom is still letting her get more comfortable and showering her with the love she deserves before starting to work on commands.   🏠 She is 100% housebroken and sleeps in a crate all through the night. She is not destructive and so well behaved! Astrid prefers to have a crate to go to during the day as a safe space as well.    🐕‍🦺 Astrid doesn’t pull on a leash, but doesn't quite know what to do on one either. Once she is fully adjusted and comfortable in her new home, we are sure she will start getting used to walks as part of her routine.   🤍 Astrid, like her sister Abby, is quite timid at first, but as soon as she warms up to you and earns your trust, her heart is yours!! She has so much love to catch up on. Are you going to be the person who showers her with love for the rest of her life?   🐾 If you are already an approved adopter and want to meet or adopt Astrid, please contact your adoption coordinator. Or you can fill out an application at mhlrm.com   Adoption Donations | Puppies to 1 year - $425, 1-6 years - $375, 7-10 years - $325, and 11+ years - $175. Junior is a super sweet pup who cannot wait to find his forever home! General Notes | Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Health Notes | Happy and healthy! Other Dogs | Junior gets along well with his 2 year old lab foster brother! For the first several days he was with us, Junior was not that interested in hanging out with him, and really just wanted to be around the humans in the house. Then one day, he suddenly realized how much fun it can be to play with other dogs and they have been wearing each other out ever since.    Cats | Unknown Children | He absolutely loves our kids. He is very gentle and loves giving kisses and receiving love.  Training | He knows sit, and comes when you call his name. He does well in his crate at night and periodically as needed during the day (although he sometimes needs a little coaxing to get in). He is also potty trained with no accidents in the house... yay!!  Leash | He does really well on leash! He could use some training to perfect his skills, but not much pulling and generally, he stays close to us.  Activity Level | He's a very chill, laid back dog most of the time, mixed in with spurts of high energy playing. He would likely be content either laying by your feet while you work, or being an extremely active hiking /running /adventuring buddy. He had his first mountain adventure last weekend, and loved hiking and checking out all the new smells in nature.  Personality | He's such a sweetheart! Junior's tail wags nonstop (actually, his whole body wags!). He loves people and follows us around the house giving kisses and nudging us for pets or belly scratches. For the first several days he was here, he seemed pretty nervous or tentative at times. But he quickly settled in, and seems totally comfortable now. Overall, he's a really awesome, happy boy! Story | He came from Kansas with his mom, Reagan (who was adopted from Mile High as well).  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.     Health Notes | Very healthy, maybe a couple pounds overweight. No allergies or medications. Other Dogs | Rio is selective about other dogs- he requires a proper introduction. He can be reactive to other dogs while on leash but is working on this through professional training. Cats | Rio is curious about cats- he has met a dog-savvy cat and was able to exist in the same space but can't be trusted not to chase them. Children | Previous foster reported Rio was wonderful with her 4-year-old grandson; he seems to love everyone! Training | Rio knows "sit" but he is still learning other commands and working on recall. Leash | Rio pulls on leash but we are working on heel training. He is a big, strong dog and will require a strong person to be able to handle him until he is better trained. Activity Level | Overall, Rio is a moderate energy level dog. He loves to play fetch more than anything in the world! He enjoys sniffing on his walks but tires out after about 2 miles. No hyperactivity and is able to settle in the house. Like car rides. Personality | Rio is so sweet! He loves to say hi to everyone he sees and will share his ball and toys. He has an incredible amount of potential and would do well in scentwork. Quick learner and has fun trying new things. He is unbothered by noises and rarely barks. Crate trained but has shown to be trustworthy in the house when alone. Just a sweet companion to have by your side. Story | Rio belonged to a woman who had MS (multiple sclerosis) who could no longer handle him due to her deteriorating health. Unable to rehome him, she gave him to a shelter in Oklahoma and then he was rescued by the Mile High Lab Mission and transferred to Colorado. Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $350 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $300 for 1-6 years, $250 for dogs 7-10 years, and $100 for 11+ years of age. Think your smarter than a 5th grader?! Wait until you meet Maisy!  This beautiful (smart!) Lab/ Great Pyrenees mix is looking for a family that appreciates intelligence (and beauty!)  💛  Maisy is insanely smart and thrives when given a job 👏🏼 She loves puzzles and working! Please read up on the Great Pyrenees breed as Maisy's personality is definitely more Great Pyrenees than Labrador 💛 She’s loyal to her humans and the definition of an emotional support animal. This girl will do anything to make you happy 🥰 We even believe she’d make a wonderful service animal with the proper training! She has leared "place" and how to pick items up for her person!  💛 Speaking of training, Maisy is doing great with her commands — sit, stay, heel and crate. She’s even learned to walk nicely on leash using a gentle leader 🐾 Like we said, this dog is happiest when working for you!  Maisy has just completed a month training with the Colorado Cell Dogs (CCI) a Denver based prison dog training program. CCI Program Manager and trainers cannot believe what a smart trainable girl our Maisy is, one of the best in the program!  With her completion, Maisy & her owners will receive weekly 1 hour continued training for free for life and up to 2 weeks board/train every year to keep our girls skills sharp!  This program is highly respected and has a waiting list, so you just skipped the line by adopting Maisy!! 💛 Maisy is great with children. She takes commands from the young children in her foster home and enjoys their company.  💛 She likes other dogs and is very playful, but needs discipline and structure to help set boundaries with her furry friends 🐶  💛 Maisy is an incredibly sweet and gentle independent companion. She will excel with an adopter that can give her a job to use that smart Pyrenees brain! 🤓 If you are already an approved adopter and want to meet or adopt Maisy, please contact your adoption coordinator. Or you can fill out an application at milehighlabmission.com   Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application.  Alec is the sweetest boy! He is shy at first and he does best when people let him come to them. He enjoys long naps on the couch, playing outside, playing tug, and loves to snuggle with you or another dog. Besides napping, one of Alec's super powers is stealth. He will grab items on the ground and bring them to his bed. He doesn't chew or rip them though. He is very food motivated and was quick to learn sit. He is still perfecting commands and will need leash training. He does not have accidents but is working on telling his foster parents when he has to go. He goes into the kennel but cries for a few minutes before going to sleep for the entire night. He is calm, timid, and has a very loving personality. He would do best with parents who are patient, as he is slow to warm up. He would also do well with a family with another dog as he is a follower. He also does well with children.    Health Notes |  Other Dogs | yes Cats |  Children | yes Training |  Leash |  Activity Level | low Personality |  Story |  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | Lassie is searching for someone to save! Lassie has an energy level that will match yours. If you want a hiking companion, she's your girl. If you want a snuggle buddy to binge watch Netflix with, she's also your girl. She is the perfect houseguest at her foster home- doesn't chew anything she shouldn't and and is so sweet with her old foster dog sister and her two little human foster siblings- She will gently lick leftover food  off of their faces, but never steals food from their hands. She doesn't jump or nip and is very gentle taking treats. In fact, her foster mom says that she is the very best dog that they've ever fostered with the kids. As a bonus, she hardly sheds at all! She is the least sheddy dog that has ever been in her foster home! She has been working very hard on potty training and almost has it down. Now we're working on basic commands and she's such a smart girl, she's getting the hang of everything so fast!  Health Notes | Very healthy. Still needs to be spayed, which is covered in adoption fee. Other Dogs | Lassie is very polite with her senior foster dog sister. She doesn't bark at dogs on walks or when she's out on the town. Cats | Unknown  Children | Lassie is so incredibly good with her 3 and 4 year old foster humans.  Training | Almost housebroken (from no idea that floors aren't for peeing to 1 early morning accident in 3 days) Leash | walks so gently on a leash that the 4 year old can walk her Activity Level | Matches whatever your up for. She loves to play, but also loves to chill Personality | Soooo sweet. All this girl wants is love. Story | Lassie was saved from an overcrowded, high kill shelter in Texas. She was living in a cage and is now so happy to be living the good life! Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age. Hazel is so sweet! She's a big floppy baby when she's tired, then switches on that playful loveable lab personality. She's curious, kind of goofy, and absolutely melts when you rub her tummy. She likes her crate and seeks it out when she needs to decompress. She seems to get a bit nervous with lots of noise or activity and will crawl in your lap or hide when she's overwhelmed. She's not fearful, she just needs a bit of reassurance until she gets used to a new situation. We've watched her confidence grow every day! She rides well in the car, and is content to go wherever you take her. She's done great with older and bigger dogs, she initiates play and reads cues well. This smarty pants loves to chase a ball, and has her favorite stuffed toys to cuddle with. She will quietly crawl in your lap and straight up steal your heart! General Notes | Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Health Notes | Healthy & Happy! , no issues in foster home so far Other Dogs | Yes! She's assertive but balanced, not aggressive or shy.  Cats | Not sure as foster does not have.  Children | Yes! She's a teething puppy with pointy teeth so will need to be watched with smaller children, she did great with kids age 11, 10 and 3! Training | Understands No and Come, working on consistently listening (she's a baby!) Today she learned how to "sit" with a treat reward in 2 sessions of about 5 minutes each. Check out the video!  We always recomend that puppies (and dogs) take professional training.  It is a great way for the pup and new owner to bond ;)  Leash | Walked in the backyard with a leash and did well, so she's working on it! Activity Level | Probably going to be high energy, but able to settle down quickly.  Personality | Hazel is so sweet! Lola needs a patient home that will allow her to warm up to her new surroundings and feel confident that she is safe and loved. It took a few days before she let foster mom get near her, but now that she trusts, she can’t sit still because she just wants to give kisses!! She is perfectly healthy and beautiful on the inside and out 💛   🐾 Lola is really good with other dogs. Might even do best with another dog who could show her how fun being a dog can be! It is unknown how she would be with cats but doesn’t seem to have a prey drive.    🐾 Lola’s been going to dog training classes for the past month and is excelling in them! She responds to her name and is a super fast learner who is eager to please and has already mastered these commands: Sit, Stay, Look at Me, and Touch. She is working on Come. She loves to work and with more training could easily master them all.   🐕‍🦺 Lola is fantastic on walks and hikes. She is 90% loose leash trained (she likes to go after the occasional squirrel) and goes on long, daily walks. She walks right past other people and is great meeting other dogs. Really a perfect walking companion!   🏠 She is 100% housebroken and sleeps through the night. She is crate trained but in her current home, she’s been able to free roam at night and during the day with zero issues! Lola is super smart and eager to please. All it has taken to break a bad habit is saying “no” once.    🐾 Lola would absolutely flourish in a less chaotic home. Unpredictability and chaos make her very nervous. She would do best in a home with teenagers or no kids and she loves women.    Truly, Lola is about as sweet as a dog can be; she is loving and affectionate and always up for a tummy rub. She takes a little time to warm up, but once she does, you couldn’t ask for a better dog. Activity Level | Perfect! She's very calm for her age but still has that puppy silliness and spring in her step Personality | Oh so sweet. Lola is quite timid at first, but as soon as she warms up to you, she wants all the love you can give! Story | Lola has lived her whole life with her sister, until they were both owner surrenders in Texas. She misses her sister and is desperately looking for a new family who will love her forever. Why were they surrendered? Her foster mom has no idea, Lola is absolutely wonderful and truly a joy to have around.  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Puppies to 1 year - $425, 1-6 years - $375, 7-10 years - $325, and 11+ years - $175.
