General Notes | Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Beth is calm and comfortable around the house but nervous outside as she's getting used to all the city noises.  She’s a big hit in the apartment building and on walks; people regularly stop to comment on how beautiful she is.  I've only heard her bark twice: once at the printer and another time in her sleep.  She's very patient and doesn't whine or beg.  She loves pets and always wants to be next to you and if you let her on the couch, she'll nap with her head on your arm or lap. Beth has begun learning how to "dog" and loves to show how fast she can zoom around the backyard, or just cuddling up for snuggles. Beth is the sweetest girl, and we're so excited to see her goofy side begin to shine. Story |  Other Dogs | Beth is fostered with 2 large dogs, and loves them both. She follows their lead, and they've helped her gain so much confidence. She initiates play with them, cuddles on the couch and in general likes to follow them around (but also understands when they want a break).  Cats | She's not exposed to cats currently but I think she'd do great with them. Children | I think children would ok but it might take her some time to warm up to them. Training | Beth is very smart and calm and should pick up new training quickly.   Leash | Beth has near perfect lease manners for a puppy.  Her only issues are when she's scared which can result in gentle pulling or not moving but she's getting braver with each walk.   Activity Level |  Health Notes |  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Maddox is an AMAZING dog. He is social, loves life and the water, and he LOVES to play fetch. He will play until you tell him to stop and then maybe try to convince you for two or three more throws. One of his best qualities is his smile. He is a HAPPY boy! Story | Maddox was surrendered to MHLRM by his owner that can no longer care for him. Other Dogs | Friendly! Maddox is great with other dogs and loves to play with them.  Cats | Unsure. Maddox does not currently live with a cat. Children | Friendly! Maddox has never met a stranger. He would love a family to call his own. Training | Maddox is one smart Labrador! He is eager to please his humans! Commands – Maddox understands basic commands – Sit, Stay, Laydown, outside, etc. He is very good with treat training for new commands. Housetrained – He’s completely housetrained. He’ll tell you when he wants to go out and come in. Kenneling – You just need to say “HOME” and he will go. He also prefers his kennel to be left open when you’re home so he can come and go as he pleases. We kenneled when we left the house or allowed him to stay in the room where his kennel was with the door closed and kennel open. Barking – Maddox is a social dog. He likes to talk/bark to you. If he starts to get too loud just say “Inside Voice”. He will start to mumble more quietly. We would say “Inside voice and row row row” and he would start mimicking. He wants to be with you and participate in what you’re doing. Leash | He love to go for walks around the neighborhood. Enjoys meeting new people and all of the new encounters. Activity Level | Maddox is an active dog who loves all the typical Labrador things -- swimming, running, and car rides! Fetch – Maddox loves to play fetch. He will track the ball when you throw it. If he loses it you can point to where the ball went and say “over there”. He will work his way to it. You can also point to where you want him to put or roll the ball too and he will do it. He’ll drop the ball on command and wait for you to throw it again. He, like most labs will play until you make him stop. Maddox starts to whistle when he’s played too much. That’s your cue to make him sit and relax a bit. Water Activities– He also LOVES the water. It can be a pool, a lake, splash pad, sprinklers, rain, or the hose. He loves it all. If the garden hose is on he will run back and forth trying to get the water. Car Rides – Maddox gets very excited for car rides. He smiles the entire time he’s on the road. We put him in the back of the vehicle, and he would just wag his tail and smile the whole time. Health Notes | Healthy! Maddox is up to date on vaccinations, neutered and heartworm NEGATIVE! General Notes | Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Winnie was timid when she first arrived at her foster home, but warmed up to her foster mom and resident dog. She is now approaching them for pets and cuddles. She's becoming a velcro dog! This is quite the contrast to her trying to find a corner in which to hide. She is learning to be happy and enjoys going outside to watch (ahem hunt) the squirrels and birds.  Story | Winnnie and several other dogs were confiscated in a neglect case. They were living outdoors amongst trash and debris. All the dogs are adjusting well in their foster home and will need a patient adopter that will give her time to build trust and gain confidence.  Other Dogs | Friendly. She's definitely a dog's dog and seeks comfort in the resident dog when nervous. Cats | She sniffed the neighbor's cat and seemed like she wanted to play Children | Have meet children on walks. Still kind of hangs back but will go closer when the resident dog says hello Training | Winnie will go in the crate with some help but doesn't paticular enjoying being crated. She doesn't whine or make any noise while in the crate. Since she isn't a fan of the crate, I have been allowing her to free roam while I am out and she just sleeps in the bedroom or follows the resident dog around. Hasn't gotten into anything uncrated. Winnie isn't food motivate but enjoys being rewarded with cheese! And has started to take dog treats. Leash | Winnie loves her walks as she seems more comfortable outside. Has been able to walk 2 miles with the resident dog where she sometimes leads the walks. She loves sniffing around and taking in the scenery on walks. Wants to say hi to dogs she sees. Will be working on solo walks to continue to build her confidence. Activity Level | Winnie is very calm. When inside she is still confines herself to a spot to lay all day but will follow foster mom around. More active when she is outside where she can take walks. Health Notes | Healthy! Winnie is up to date on vaccinations, spayed and heartworm NEGATIVE! Thank you! |  Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page! We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved.  Your application is good for 90 days from the time of approval for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle.  show less
