General Notes | Benny is the perfect blend of zoomies and snuggles. At around 35 pounds, he’s small but mighty and an athletic little guy who zips around with impressive speed like Usain Bolt.  The foster family reports that he has started to walk very well on a leash with a harness. He LOVES to play. He LOVES people!! He sleeps all night (8 hours) in his kennel without a peep. He learned the potty command in only 2 days. He LOVES affection, and snuggling and as a petite guy he can snuggle right in your lap. He wins the worlds best sitter award. He does great with a routine and is learning boundaries. He is acclimating wonderfully. He would do great with athletic things like agility, hiking, long walks, running and stimulating activities. This guy is learning and seeing things for the first time. It's been a joy to watch him discover what the world has to offer. We feel he will be easy to train to do anything. We don’t know much about Benny’s backstory, but we do know he’s a resilient little guy. He is skittish around new objects but with kindness snd  consistency he gets over it.   Fast, snuggly, sweet, and smart—he’s the total package, ready to bring joy, adventure, and cozy companionship to his forever home Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Benny is adorable, sporty, incredibly sweet and affectionate. He has a mild mannered temperament and is so easy going for his age. Other Dogs | Great with other dogs! Cats | Not yet cat tested.  Children | Would love littles to love on! Training | In progress and doing well.  Leash He is doing so well on the leash with a harness. It has been fun to watch him see him watch scooters, bikes, cars etc. Understandably, he can be a bit skittish with new sights and sounds but this will be easy for him to overcome with training.   Activity Level | Active  Health Notes | He is healthy Thank you! |  Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. A small rescue took him in and he spent the next 6 months hoping his forever family would come along! Due to the pet overpopulation problem in Alabama, even perfect dogs have a hard time finding homes, so the rescue reached out to MHLM to try to find rescue placement in Colorado where dogs are adored!  Other Dogs | Beau is great with other dogs and loves to play! Cats | He is unbothered by the kitty in his foster home! Children | He has done great with his foster's 13 year old!  Training | Beau knows "sit," "come," "stay" and is very treat motivated. He also has been doing great with crate training in his foster's home and is already potty trained!  Leash | Walks great on the leash! He loves walks and would be the best hiking buddy! Activity Level | Moderate. He LOVES toys and will happily keep himself occupied with toys! Health Notes | Healthy, neutered, and fully vaxxed!  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | Meet Marcus! He is a classic gentleman with quiet confidence. Pulled at his EU deadline, MHLM knows there's more life left for this sweet boy! He has moved past the puppy chaos and is in the prime of his life, ready to be a strong, loyal presence in your home. With a distinguished spirit and a heart full of devotion, Marcus is ready to be your most steadfast companion. Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Marcus walks well on a loose leash, presents a relax body, and soft swaying tail. Marcus is such a good boy! I briefly met him in his kennel, he’s super eager for treats and will sit for them. When I approached his kennel, he was super wiggly and happy to see me. He gave me lots of kisses when I got down on his level and was just happy to receive love!! I couldn’t temp test him but I walked him around his kennel mates and he didn’t really care for them. When One started barking at him, he stopped and was just wagging his tail and then kept moving along. Overall super sweet, friendly ,kiss monster, loving guy. UPDATE FROM CO FOSTER: My daughter came up with the idea to name all of our fosters after Disney characters while they are with us, so we are calling this precious pup Mowgli! This VERY GOOD boy is SUPER SWEET, friendly, and affectionate. He loves getting pets and rubs, but is never pushy about asking for them. Mowgli gets along very well with my dog! Their favorite activities are chasing each other around the yard, wrestling, and playing gentle tug-of-war with stuffed toys. He is also fine with playing on his own and often grabs a stuffed toy and does these cute little "happy hops" with it in his mouth. Mowgli loves to be next to me when I'm sitting down and is very calm - he just snuggles up and is incredibly loving! If I am standing (or my son is - see picture) then Mowgli often lays on our feet and is just happy to receive love! Mowgli walks well on a leash, never zigzagging or getting tangled up with my dog. He is a curious little guy and likes to sniff along the way, but walks loose-leash 95% of the time (much better than my own dog)....I'm impressed! Mowgli is house-trained as far as I can tell. There have been no accidents and he just goes potty in my backyard every time. He also does well in a crate. He goes right in and settles easily. The first night, he whined for about one minute when I first put him in....then slept until I woke him in the morning! Mowgli sits for a treat and comes whenever I call him. He has beautiful coloring and the most adorable white-tipped tail! This dog is truly a gem! He will melt your heart and be a wonderful addition to any home ❤️ Story | Marcus arrived as a stray on 9/16, found with four other dogs trying to break into a gated community, simply doing their best to survive on the streets. Despite it all, he’s shown nothing but sweetness and resilience. Marcus was scheduled for euthanasia due to the shelter being at capacity/out of space. On EU day, we received his info at 12:17 pm, with his EU deadline being 1:00 pm, so we had just minutes to act—and it all came together. Sweet Marcus was pulled from the shelter and is safe now!  Other Dogs | Great with other dogs! Cats |  Children |  Training |  Leash |  Activity Level |  Health Notes | Marcus is heartworm positive, but treatment is very successful and completely manageable with all the proper education and care. MHLRM will cover the expense of treatment at one of our approved veterinarians. Heartworm positive dogs go on to live happy, normal lives after treatment and rarely experience long-term side effects. Don't let this stop you from adopting this sweet guy! Thank you! |  Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | Bree comes dressed for the party - do you see her fancy tux?! This sweet lab pup can't wait to find her forever family, and spend all her days giving sweet snuggles and cuddles! She is one of the fluffiest and most playful from her litter! She also loves to be held and will jump right in your lap for cuddles! She always has a smile on her face and a wagging tail!! Want to adopt this loving girl?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Bree couldn't be cuter and sweeter! Her foster says she is the best gal, with all the love to give and receive. She loves exploring, sleeping on her fosters toes, and spending time playing with her puppy siblings! Her happy personality is contagious and will bring a smile to your face :)  Story | Bree was rescued with her nine (!!) siblings and mama days after her mom gave birth on the streets in Houston, TX. A concerned citizen noticed their pregnant mama Honey, and immediately put out a plea for rescue. MHLM jumped into action, and a dedicated foster drove over four hours and searched for the family in order to save them. Since her rescue, she has been in a foster home in Houston before recently making her way to Colorado! She's been in a loving foster home since she was a few days old and is well socialized! Her mom is also the sweetest, gentlest girl and seems to have passed that onto her babies.  Other Dogs | Bree is amazing with dogs, and is residing in foster with her foster dog brother! She is sweet, curious, and follows his lead. She isn't scared of big dogs and trIes her best to entice them to play! Cats | Bree is being fostered with a kitty and is doing great! So far she has been curious, but respectful of the kitty. Her and her brother have both given the kitty plenty of space and haven't been interested in chasing him. She's young enough to thrive in all sorts of situations including having a kitty sibling :) Children | Bree likes little humans a lot! Her fosters think she would do great with children and would enjoy their company.  Training | Bree is learning all about how to be the best puppy! She is learning to be happy in her crate and is crated through the night and takes naps throughout the day with her brother! Her foster parents are taking her all over Colorado to experience new things to get her well socialized for her future life in Colorado! Despite her fluff, she seems to be all lab in that she loves food and should be easy to train with treats! Leash | Bree is still little, and isn't walking independently on a leash yet. She will start leash training once she has all of her vaccinations!  Activity Level | Moderate. So far this litter seems really mellow and are great nappers! Health Notes | healthy and happy!  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | Traveling from Arkansas, Willa is a gorgeous Black Lab mix looking for her happy ending in Colorado. She's a total sweetheart who loves her friends (both human and canine) and adores her collection of stuffed animals. Willa can't wait to share her snuggles and playtime with her new family. Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Sweet, playful, and super fun!  She LOVES toys and likes to carry around a stuffed animal in her mouth! Willa is shy at first and takes a few hours after meeting someone new to open up and show her silly side! Story | She was dumped in rural Arkansas and taken in by a small rescue before making her way to Colorado! Other Dogs | Great with other dogs! She enjoys playing with doggy friends! Cats | Willa is good with kitties! She mostly ignores them in her foster home.  Children | This pup is sweet as can be and would be great with kind, respectful kiddos!  Training | Willa is already potty trained and is working on crate training.  Leash | She is working on her leash skills on her foster home!  Activity Level | Moderate. She gets zoomies and loves to play in the yard, but also is happy being a couch potato! She loves laying on the couch between play sessions! :) Health Notes | Healthy, spayed & UTD! Thank you!  Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $525. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $700 per dog). Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only.  To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption.   We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page! We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved.  Your application is good for one year from the date of applying for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle. show less

General Notes | Prepare for liftoff with Cosmo, a tiny chocolate lab pup ready to explore your heart! This little guy is a universe of wiggles and sweet puppy kisses, guaranteed to make your Colorado home the happiest planet in the galaxy. Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Cosmo is a typical puppy who will follow you around, adore the ground you walk on, cuddle as much as possible, and maybe occasionally find some trouble to get into ;) Story | His mama, Nite Nite, was surrendered heavily pregnant to an Arkansas shelter with a request to euthanize. The staff couldn't let that happen and quickly jumped into action to find a partner rescue. Fortunately, they reached out to MHLM who agreed to take the whole family and bring them to Colorado once the puppies are old enough.  Other Dogs | This little family is being fostered in a home with other dogs and doing great! Cats | Cosmo spent his early weeks living with a kitty and would do great with a future kitty friend! :) Children | Cosmo spent his early weeks living with kiddos! He would love to find a home with kind, respectful kiddos!  Training | Cosmo is enjoying his young puppyhood with his littermates right now! He has a smart mama so training should be a breeze once he leaves the nest!  Leash | Cosmo is too young for leash training.  Activity Level | Moderate. In typical puppy fashion, he likes to play, nap, repeat. He will need regular exercise as he grows up as all young labs do! Health Notes | Healthy and happy :) Thank you! |  Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age.
