General Notes | Hello, my name is Dakota, and I’m 7 months old. If you’ve ever heard the phrase “Beauty is only skin deep.”, I want you to know that that does not apply to me! When I was picked up, I had almost no fur on me... due to malnutrition and neglect. Imagine that. But the amazing people at Mile High Lab Mission looked way past that and thought I was worth saving. Thru their help and the love of foster parents, my fur is growing back, my appetite is fantastic, and I am quickly returning to full health. I’m not contagious at all, so please don’t worry. My foster mommy thinks I have an ‘old soul’ face, but I don’t know what that means. Believe me, I’m a great catch! All my fosters say so, and I’m doing my best every day to live up to all that’s been done for me. I have learned ILOVE humans and get a real kick out of showing that love. I want to be right beside you with whatever you’re doing, but don’t be upset if I just fall asleep at your feet. If you touch my back, I’ll probably just roll over andask for a belly rub... those are my favorites! I’ve been around a lot of kids and dogs and kitties (I’m curious), so I’ll fit into whatever your family looks like... even if it’s a family of one! I’ve learned that the crate isn’t a scary place to be, although I’d probably rather curl up with you or kids or other dogs. You won’t need to worry about house-training me. I’m very good at going outside. You can teach me whatever you want because I’m super-smart!! What I do know is that I am full of love and loyalty to share with someone. Health Notes | Dakota was found in terrible shape as a stray. The area he was found in has no animal control and he wandered the area for weeks, losing more and more weight. By the time a kind rescuer finallly took him in he barely had any fur left. His skin condition is not contagious and he is already looking a lot better. Other Dogs | Loves other dogs. More on the submissive side. Cats | Children | Loves kids. His foster is a music teacher in her home. Dakota loves all the kids and can't wait for them to give him some love! Training | You won’t need to worry about house-training Dakota, He is very good at going outside. His foster mom says he is super-smart!! Leash | Activity Level | I have lots of energy, and I love to play with other dogs, but I don’t play crazy-hard. I have respect for all living things! I love toys and sticks and cheese-stuffed Kongs. Personality | Sweet and happy. Story | Thank you! | Adoption Donations | Puppies to 1 year - $425, 1-6 years - $375, 7-10 years - $325, and 11+ years - $175. Purebreds are $475 regardless of age. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $600 per dog). Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page! We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved. Your application is good for 90 days from the time of approval for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle.
