General Notes | Know whats great about a senior dog?  It is NOT a puppy!! Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Health Notes | Charlie is overall a healthy senior love bug! He has some masses that the vet determined were just fatty. He's got some wobbly hips but has started a Dasuquin and exercise regime to help regain his strength. We suspect he is deaf but that doesn't stop him! He's got a great nose on him. It's pretty cute waking him up with a pet or to the smell of his breakfast. He has some skin issues, none are contageous and likely a result of living outside most of his life.  Other Dogs | Enjoys other dogs! He hasn't actively tried playing with his foster siblings but when he sees them playing, will come up to you as well. He likes sniff them and when we are taking walks, he follows what they do.  Cats | He has not been around cats.  Children | He has not been around children Training | We have not worked on any training with Charlie but he loves food!  Leash | Very well mannered on a leash. He walks slightly behind you or next to you. He usually stops when you stops, occasionally keeps going. He sometimes gets a pep in his step and will trot in front but we think he's just trying to keep up with his foster siblings.  Activity Level | Low activity. He is totally content napping all day & going on light walks. He loves going outside & laying in the sunshine. He does like to trot after tennis balls but won't always bring them back. Just seeing him enjoy play time is the best! He is learning what toys are and will occassionally grab a bone to chew. Personality | Love bug. Despite his history that likely didn't include much love & a life outdoors, he loves humans. He likes to come put his head on your leg while you scratch his head. His tail always wags. Even though he can't hear, he knows he is loved and is always happy. He loves food so will sniff away while you are eating.  Story | Charlie was found as a stray in Montgomery, TX. When animal control arrived, he was being attacked by another dog. When he was picked up from the shelter, his foster mom noticed he looked so sad & broken. After lots of good food, love, and realizing he was safe, he became a foster family favorite. Despite being hurt by another dog, he hasn't once showed aggression towards his foster siblings. He is looking so forward to becoming a part of his forever family.  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $375 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $325 for 1-6 years, $275 for dogs 7-10 years, and $125 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $425. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $500 per dog). Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only.  To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page! We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved.  Your application is good for 90 days from the time of approval for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle.  show less

May initally be scared when meeting new dogs at house but responds well to corrections and reassurance. Cats | unsure how she is with cats. In her foster home if the cat is sleeping she leaves him alone. But when he tried to pass through same room she ran at him. Children | Great with kids Training | working on basic commands. House trained and crate trained. Leash | She does surprisingly well on a leash. We think a front clip harness would be best as she does love to chase squirells/dogs/birds etc. She will take off at full speed. A front clip harness would give more control. Activity Level | She has a good amount energy but settles quickly Personality | So So sweet! She loves to be pet and sits nicely for kids to pet her. She loves to look out the window, especially if squirells are roaming! Story | found as a stray in southern Texas. Thankfully she was only in the shelter a short time before being moved to foster! General Notes | Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Health Notes |  Other Dogs | He does well with other adult dog in the home. Is curious, likes to sniff, will play together, but doesn't have puppy tendencies to bite/nibble on big brother's ears and tail just yet. He doesn't seem to be afraid of other dogs he meets on our walks, but also doesn't pull toward them. When they play too rough, he'll crawl between your legs for safety. He's cautiously curious. Cats | Respects the cat's boundaries when she hisses/swats at him. He is curious about her but doesn't chase. I think he would do very well in a home with a cat. Children | No experience around children. Training | Currently crate training at night. He does extremely well, and will fuss for 1-5 minutes at first, then quiets down quickly and goes to sleep. He is crated from about 10 pm to 6 am, with a potty break every 3 hours. He goes immediately.  Generally, he needs to go out every 2-3 hours but he will fuss if he needs to be let out earlier. He has not had any accidents in the house (at only ~8 weeks old!) He currently spends his days with a mix of supervised play in and outside, and time in his play pen. Like all lab-ish puppies, he is a chewer and must be supervised when he is roaming free. He loves puzzle toys and it's been a great way to ensure he is entertained, stimulated, and not eating too quickly.  He will need consistent training to avoid any potential separation anxiety, as he currenlty sings or whines when he's in his pen and can't see you. Currently his foster mom is trainng him by giving him a treat after he is quiet & makes eye contact with her, followed by a verbal "yes". He is much happier to play independently in his pen if he can see you in the room. He is a smart dog and a quick learner. We aren't teaching "sit" just yet, but he is catching on to "no" and occasionally mirroring his foster brother who sits when it's time to put on a leash.  Leash | Doing great on a leash! He loves to walk right alongside his human on or off leash, and his only challenge is getting tangled because he is so small and the leash is a bit heavy for him. He maintains a consistent speed and walks with excitement. When he feels a pull on his collar, he will have a moment of panic. He'll grow out of this, but good to know if you're walking him alongside a faster full grown dog.  Activity Level | Average puppy energy. He loves to pounce and play and chace and enjoys all of his toys! He has bursts of energy and then settles in for an hour long nap. Personality | This guy is a LOVER. He grew up with 11 siblings, and may be trying to replace them by clinging to his foster mom. He is sweet, gentle, and totally content when he's by your side. He will nap on you for hours or play with you until you give up. He loves to prance around the house like your little shadow and play hide and seek. This little man is a dream!  Story |  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $375 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $325 for 1-6 years, $275 for dogs 7-10 years, and $125 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | Goose is a sweet boy and great with kids and other dogs. He is house trained and knows commands: sit, down, no 😂. Foster mom is working on reinforcing. He has not been around cats so cannot say if he's cat friendly. Goose is a tall, strong and healthy big boy. His foster family is smitten with him. Takes his time eating.  He is his foster mom's shadow - likes to be right next to her at all times. He will sometimes paw/jump and whines like he’s trying to tell her something or when he is nervous. Sounds like Goose just needs time to settle in and feel safe ❤️ Goose will run around like a wild man outside and get his energy out but very calm in the house. The perfect balance. General Notes | Kid friendly!!  River or as her foster family calls her, Freckles is the perfect balance of knowing when its time to play and then when its time to snuggle up & chill Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.     Health Notes | Spayed, healthy, active 1 year old female Other Dogs | River is fantastic with other dogs, on and off leash. She is also great with chickens and doesn't seem to have a strong chase instinct. Cats | unknown Children | River is gentle and loving with kids of all ages. She loves to snuggle and be petted and is very gentle taking treats. She loves to play! Training | River is a typical young lab and could use some basic training. She responds well to positive reinforcement and learns quickly. she's not particularly food motivated but she's quick to learn. Leash | River walks well on a leash and rarely pulls. She's eager to meet other dogs and people but is easily redirected and gentle with new dogs she meets. She is so easy to walk! Kids can easily walk her. She must be walked with the leash attached to her harnass rather than a collar. Activity Level | River is a very mellow 1 year old lab. she does well with 2 walks a day and can chill out easily. She loves to chew and focuses on chewing bones we give her.  Personality | River is so loving and sweet. She would love to sit next to you and hold your hand for hours while you pet her. She's not a barker and is very trusting with new people.  Because she was a stray, she's learning how not to be scared of loud noises and new things, but adjusts well as she gets comfortable. She is reliably housebroken and loves to spend time lounging outside. Just an overall sweet cuddly lovable girl!  Story | River was found as a stray in Oklahoma. She was hanging around a school which is not surprising given how much she loves kids! She was taken in by a Good Samaritan and eventually transferred to Colorado. Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $350 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $300 for 1-6 years, $250 for dogs 7-10 years, and $100 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $400.
