General Notes | Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP. Health Notes | Other Dogs | He does well with other adult dog in the home. Is curious, likes to sniff, will play together, but doesn't have puppy tendencies to bite/nibble on big brother's ears and tail just yet. He doesn't seem to be afraid of other dogs he meets on our walks, but also doesn't pull toward them. When they play too rough, he'll crawl between your legs for safety. He's cautiously curious. Cats | Respects the cat's boundaries when she hisses/swats at him. He is curious about her but doesn't chase. I think he would do very well in a home with a cat. Children | No experience around children. Training | Currently crate training at night. He does extremely well, and will fuss for 1-5 minutes at first, then quiets down quickly and goes to sleep. He is crated from about 10 pm to 6 am, with a potty break every 3 hours. He goes immediately. Generally, he needs to go out every 2-3 hours but he will fuss if he needs to be let out earlier. He has not had any accidents in the house (at only ~8 weeks old!) He currently spends his days with a mix of supervised play in and outside, and time in his play pen. Like all lab-ish puppies, he is a chewer and must be supervised when he is roaming free. He loves puzzle toys and it's been a great way to ensure he is entertained, stimulated, and not eating too quickly. He will need consistent training to avoid any potential separation anxiety, as he currenlty sings or whines when he's in his pen and can't see you. Currently his foster mom is trainng him by giving him a treat after he is quiet & makes eye contact with her, followed by a verbal "yes". He is much happier to play independently in his pen if he can see you in the room. He is a smart dog and a quick learner. We aren't teaching "sit" just yet, but he is catching on to "no" and occasionally mirroring his foster brother who sits when it's time to put on a leash. Leash | Doing great on a leash! He loves to walk right alongside his human on or off leash, and his only challenge is getting tangled because he is so small and the leash is a bit heavy for him. He maintains a consistent speed and walks with excitement. When he feels a pull on his collar, he will have a moment of panic. He'll grow out of this, but good to know if you're walking him alongside a faster full grown dog. Activity Level | Average puppy energy. He loves to pounce and play and chace and enjoys all of his toys! He has bursts of energy and then settles in for an hour long nap. Personality | This guy is a LOVER. He grew up with 11 siblings, and may be trying to replace them by clinging to his foster mom. He is sweet, gentle, and totally content when he's by your side. He will nap on you for hours or play with you until you give up. He loves to prance around the house like your little shadow and play hide and seek. This little man is a dream! Story | Thank you! | Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $375 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $325 for 1-6 years, $275 for dogs 7-10 years, and $125 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $425. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $500 per dog). Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page! We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved. Your application is good for 90 days from the time of approval for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle.
