General Notes - Lyra is so smart! This labradoodle is the best little floppy-noodle you will find. She's curious, sweet, funny and determined! Very eager to please and wants to be your best friend. She has the softest fur and big floppy paws. Lyra is talkative and tells you exactly how she feels. She's good for a cuddle and loves to romp all over the back yard. If you need a running/biking/hiking buddy then Lyra is perfect for you!  Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Health Notes | Healthy Other Dogs | Great with other dogs! Cats | Not sure as fosters don't have cats.  Children | Good with kids, she would be an awesome family dog.  Training | Lyra knows sit, come and kennel. Working on other obedience commands (touch, down, place). She picks things up VERY quickly when treats are involved. She will flourish with ongoing obedience training. Potty trained about 90%, asks to go outside by barking. Knows and uses a piddle pad.  Does extremely well in the kennel, sleeps 6-8 hours and has never had an accident in her kennel.  Leash | Doing well taking short walks with a halter and leash around the block. She can easily slip out of a collar.  Activity Level | She has the characteristic Labradoodle high energy, she's a busy baby! Personality | *UPDATE 7/5 - Lyra was not phased by fireworks on July 4th.  She settled in her kennel and slept thru most of the evening. We took her out for potty breaks, she played and wrestled, then went right back to her kennel with no issue. She's doing extremely well! She will be an amazing family dog *  *UPDATE 7/2 - Lyra's sister was adopted and Lyra has come out of her shell at the foster home! She is open and eager when meeting new humans. She's more settled, and looks for cuddles and snuggles from her people more often. She loves to play/romp/wrestle with the foster's older dog and she would be great in a home with a dog friend.*   Lyra was a bit shy when we picked her up from transport; she came out of her shell quickly but her first reaction was a bit reserved. She is in foster with her sister and looks to her for comfort.  Story | Owner surrender litter of 7. General Notes | Meet Rio!!  This boy is in search of just the right family who will show him that all humans aren’t scary and mean but are loving and trustworthy.  Once Rio learns that you are there to love him and take care of him, he will be your best friend.  Right now, he lives in a fairly, quiet home with a foster mom and a foster dad, another dog, two cats and chickens.  Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Health Notes | Healthy Other Dogs | Rio gets along great with all dogs he has met.  Playdates have included small to large dogs and he loves them all.  He will play hard and is hysterical to watch as he sits and watches his foster brother dog try and entice him into a game of take away.  He will wait until the take away item is dropped and run for it. He must have a home that has a confident dog who likes to play and will show him the way of living the dog life. Cats | Cats might be ok, but the chase is on if they run.  Same with chickens so he’d be best without them. Children | Rio would probably do best iin a household with older children or no children. Training | Rio is close to housetrained. He’s been accident free for a few days with the door open for him to go out as he wants and is also escorted out like all puppies after sleeping, eating, and hard play.  All other “training” has been focused on not being afraid of what must have been a very dark, start before arriving in Colorado. His main training focus has been meeting and socializing with new people and dogs.  Rio is very food motivated which will help with learning basic manners and commands. Leash | Rio loves walks and hikes which he does on a leash with a harness.  He does some darting in and out, loves to walk close to his foster brother dog, but really enjoys leading the pack.  He’s got a great nose that likes to check things out!  Activity Level | Rio has typical puppy energy, he's busy, spunky and a bit sassy but snuggles like the best of them!  He loves to play but also loves to hang out and chew on bones and toys and snooze.  He likes to be close to the people he trusts but is getting better about not being underfoot.   Rio sleeps through the night.  He currently is sleeping in an open, medium sized crate on chairs next to the bed.  He’ll snuggle for a hot minute, then put himself to bed in the crate.  He occasionally wakes up, will get another quick snuggle and goback in the crate by himself.  Unfortunately, the cat has figured out if she wakes up the puppy, then she gets fed.  So outside to potty, back inside to lick the cat food spoon and maybe eat breakfast, then back to bed where he’ll go back in the crate by himself or sleep on the bed.   Story | Rio was part of a labradoodle litter of nine from a breeder in Texas.  When he first arrived in Colorado,he was one, scared baby.  Everything is becoming less frightening but he does not like being cornered or grabbed so he will do best with a person or family that understands giving him space to build trust and become accustomed to his new life. Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $475. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $700 per dog). Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only.  To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page! General Notes | Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Health Notes | Honey is heartworm positive. MHLRM will cover the expense of treatment with one of our approved veterinarians. Heartworm positive dogs go on to live happy, normal lives after treatment and rarely experience long-term side effects. She takes his medicine with food no problem. Don't let this stop you from adopting Honey!  Other Dogs | Good with other dogs. She loves to play with the other dog in the house. Cats | Is fostered with a cat and they mostly ignore each other. She was scared of the cat when they first met but now isn't worried about him. Children | She loves children and all people!  Training | She sleeps through the night. She is crate trained. She cries a bit when locked in the crate when people are home but seems to do fine when left alone. She had been left for ~5 hours alone in the crate and seems to do fine and slept most of the time. She is mostly good about only playing with dog toys but has shown an interest in shoes! Leash | She pulls on the leash and could use some training. She's only 43 lbs so she's still relatively easy to control even with the pulling. No reactivity on the leash noticed so far. She's gone to public events like the farmers market and does amazing! She ignored the other dogs and loves all the attention she gets from people. She is super cute so she gets plenty of attention!! She is being fostered in a home without a fenced yard and is getting plenty of practice on the leash. She's very loyal and loving and likely wouldn't be interested in "escaping" even if given the chance.  Activity Level | She is slowly becoming more and more active after surgery. She likes to play with her hard-bone toys and will jump on your lap for attention when bored.  Personality | Honey is a sweet dog who loves people! She thrives around humans! She'll sleep next to you, beside you, and maybe on top of you! She is super sweet and loving! She loves to give you hugs and kisses! When you sit down on the couch she is right behind you to get some cuddles in! Story | Honey was found pregnant in Houston. She had complications during the birth and had to get an emergency c-section. Sadly, she lost all her babies. Shortly after she suffered from a complication from the birth and had to get another emergency surgery for septic peritonitis. The surgery went well and she is now doing wonderful! Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | Looking for a hiking partner? Hunter is it.  He is an active, fun and happy puppy!  He is always on the move looking to play with toys, other dogs or just exploring. He loves chew bones and rope toys to tug with. Hunter is definitely food driven, so training is going well. He is very good in the car and for the most part a quiet puppy, not terribly vocal yet. Hunter enjoys his naps and is a very good sleeper! he often will put himself to bed in the kennel, door open. Hunter would do well as a solo dog or as a sibling! She does great when I leave her in the crate while I am out. Working on basic commands and potty training and has learned sit with the coaching of the resident dog! Very treat/food motivated which will help with training! Leash | Was a little timid on our first walk but with treat encouragement and being more comfortable with the block she trots along with the resident dog. She loves exploring/sniffing the surroundings on our walks. And wants to say "hi" to everyone we see, both humans and dogs. She went from being a little shy to saying hi to EVERYONE (humans and puppies) at puppy yoga. When she is excited her whole body shakes with happiness as she wags her tail. 100% has the wiggles. General Notes | Damn good boy here!  Read on :) Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Health Notes | Happy & Healthy!  Other Dogs | Champ LOVES other dogs!!  Having a dog in the house would be great for Champ  Cats |  Children | He did do great meeting a 4 and 6 year old.  He is nervous so may get spooked with fast movements but no aggression.   Training | Champ is housetrained!!  Absolutely no accidents ever. Doesn’t love to go in the crate but once he’s in there, he’s perfect. Super gentle taking treats. Has never growled a single time.  Sleeps on a dog bed beside his fosters bed all night, no whining. Will eat a remote in about 1.7 seconds. 🤣 Leash | Timid at first on the leash, but then is great. Activity Level | Acts like an old dogs and lays around a lot. Personality Champ is an absolute sweetheart  he survived a wild boar attack and is a little shy but when he's around other dogs, he shines!  He takes treats so sweetly and loves being near his person and the other dogs in the house  I think he'd do best in a house that either doesn't have small kids (he gets startled easily) or one where older kids won't scare him as much.  He loves dogs! Don't know about cats.   He's also a domestic goddess and will gather all your clothes and shoes from the floor and will pile them up for you!  Housebroken and hasn't had a single accident inside.  He's a darn good boy who deserves a darn good home!! Story | Champ was a part of a hoarding situation in Crockett, TX.  He was dumped with a pack of 20+ dogs and found roaming. Mile High Lab Mission rescued 6 of them and the rest went to other rescues. These dogs had wounds in different stages of healing and have been fearful of humans.  They will need time and patience to learn how to trust humans but have so much love to give. General Notes | If you are looking for the perfect puppy, look no further! Zion is not only handsome but has such a sweet disposition. He loves to be in the same room as his foster family, whether it is playing with a toy or snuggling for nap time. He loves his walks and is bound to be the perfect adventure buddy.  Zion is crated at night (he has started to sleep through the night) and when we are out of the house.  Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Health Notes |  Other Dogs | Zion wants to be friends with every dog he meets... I mean, who wouldn't. Cats | Unsure- our cat has stayed out of sight so Zion has not interacted with her yet. Children | Zion does great with the teenagers in our house. I imagine he will do great with children of all ages, however, he does have sharp puppy teeth so an adult will need to help redirect around very young children. Training | Zion is highly food motivated (aren't we all), which will come in handy with training. Leash | Zion has been a quick learner on walks. Activity Level | Typical lab puppy- plays hard and sleeps hard.  Personality | Zion is so sweet and loves to be around people. After playing hard he loves to snuggle or nap at our feet. Story | Zion's mom was abandoned when pregnant and brought in by a foster in Arkansas where she had her 9 puppies.  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age.
