General Notes | Great Scott! It's Marty McFly! This fantastic puppy is on a mission to find his Jennifer... or at least a human who will offer endless love and maybe a skateboard (for future reference, of course). He's got the energy of a lightning bolt and the charm to win over even the toughest Biff. Get ready for a future so bright, you'll need shades! Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Marty is playful, sweet, doting, and truly the most lovable little man. He makes his foster family laugh with his silly charm, and how adoring he is - always at their feet!  Story | Marty found himself at a high-kill shelter in Houston with his two brothers. Fortunately, MHLM pulled him and now he's on his way to being a mountain pup!  Other Dogs | Marty is great with other dogs. He is currently in a house with FOUR other pups (his brother, another lab, and two small dogs!) and does incredibly well. Children | Marty would love to join a family with kind, respectful children! He LOVES small kiddos and would be thrilled to have snuggles. Training | Marty is still a puppy and is learning potty training, crate training, and basic commands! He sleeps well in his crate through the night, and knows sit! General Notes | This tiny-but-mighty pup is bursting with personality! Bailey is a petite black Lab mix with little white spots and a whole lot of spunk. Adventurous and fearless, she’s always the first to explore new places and introduce herself to new dog friends. She may be small, but she plays big—learning quickly how to keep up with older, bigger dogs. Bailey is pure puppy: curious, playful, and full of love. Whether she’s zooming around the yard or snuggling up after a day of fun, this sweet girl is sure to steal your heart! Could Bailey be your perfect little adventure buddy? 🖤🐶✨ Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Bailey is tiny but mighty - this sweet girl has a personality that packs a punch in being both adorable and sweet. She is all puppy - curious, friendly, and wonderful.  Story | Bailey was rescued with her nine (!!) siblings and mama days after her mom gave birth on the streets in Houston, TX. A concerned citizen noticed their pregnant mama Honey, and immediately put out a plea for rescue. MHLM jumped into action, and a dedicated foster drove over four hours and searched for the family in order to save them. Since her rescue, she has been in a foster home in Houston before recently making her way to Colorado! Honey and her B's (all the puppies have B names) arrived in CO 3/8/2025. She is currently in a foster home with her brother Boomer. Other Dogs | Bailey has grown up with many doggy siblings (with nine in her litter!) and does well with all sorts of dogs! She is enjoying time in her foster home with her foster siblings, and will do well in a house with another pup.  Cats | Bailey has not been cat tested, but due to her age and sweet temperament, her fosters think she would do well in adapting to a house with kitties.  Children | Bailey LOVES kiddos! She would be happy to have small people to play with, chase, and adore. She likes to be held, snuggled, and truly is the sweetest.  Training | Bailey's training is in progress. She is working on both potty and crate training, and is learning sit! She is learning quickly! She know that outside is potty time first then play, and she will instantly do her thing, before playing or exploring. She does cry in her crate when she needs to go out, and it making steps toward housetraining faster than expected.  Leash | Bailey is still teeny tiny, and getting all her vaccinations, so she isn't walking on a leash quite yet. Hopefully soon, as her training progresses! Activity Level | Bailey's energy is moderate - she's a typical lab with bursts of energy and puppy chaos, and then settles in for a good nap! Number one fan of food, gets really excited for feeding times and will play right after, followed by a long nap.  Health Notes | Healthy puppy, growing and loving her new CO life. Thank you! |  Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. He is still working hard on being a good walking buddy as he is very excited to be out and about Leash | Ken walks like a typical lab on a leash - haha! Activity Level | Moderate! General Notes | Billigual, dashing, great with kids, dogs, and all types of people, Trent is the WHOLE PACKAGE! This dreamy boy was found on the streets of Texas, and is now enjoying the good life of endless snuggles, cuddles, and quality time with good people! He can't wait to meet his forever family. Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Trent is adoring, watchful, sweet, and so cute! This boy wants all the love, and deserves to receive it!  He loves to play and can occasionally be a little rough. He LOVES being right next to his humans (and sleeping in the bed with you if you let him ;) and would be happy in a home that gives him lots of cuddles! Story | Trent was found on the streets of Texas and brought in by a wonderful rescuer! While his first five years may have looked rough, he is rounding a bend and doing so well!  Other Dogs | Trent is dog friendly. He loves to play! He is very friendly and can be very enthusiastic (and maybe sometimes overwhelming) with new doggy friends! He has show a little bit of resource guarding when it comes to food so feeding him away from other pups may be a good idea. Cats | Trent has not been cat tested. The rescue cannot speak to how he would do in a house with kitties. He does seem to have a strong prey drive with squirrles and rabbits. Children | Trent LOVES kiddos! He doted on all the grandkids in his Texas foster home. He would make an amazing family dog as long as children are respectful and kind! And throw him crumbs occasionally ; ) Training | Trent knows most basic commands, and walks well on a leash. He will continue to learn with time! He knows the basics of sit, stay, shake and come very well...even if he may forget them when he is excited. Leash | Your basic lab on a leash - lots of wiggles, lots of excitement, but as you can see in his video - he walks wonderfully!  Activity Level | Moderate.  Health Notes | Trent tested heartworm positive, but has been treated with a ProHeart12 injection and antibotics.  He needs to be retested in February 2025 and it is anticipated he will no longer be positive for the disease.  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | Rescued with 17 of their siblings from a Missouri labrador breeder in March, this sweet bunch of pups can't wait to find their forever families! Pure bred, playful, and adorable as they come, they couldn't be a better bunch! Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Sweet, curious, and learning and growing day by day!  Story | This sweet gal was rescued with 17 of her siblings after a Missouri breeder deemed her "too old" to be sold. They were surrendered in a large batch of December "spring puppies" as teams with National Mill Dog Rescue continue to try to slow down and stop breeding operations in the south.  Other Dogs | Great with other dogs! She loves playing, exploring, and is learning social cues from other pups.  Cats | Hasn't met a kitty yet, but with a proper introduction, she could do well!  Children | She loves kiddos! Training | This sweet girl is learning basic commands, as well as potty training and crate training.  Leash | In progress!  Activity Level | Moderate  Health Notes |  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $525. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $700 per dog). Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only.  To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. General Notes | This Oprah isn't giving away cars, but she is giving away endless love and sloppy kisses to the lucky Colorado family who snatches her up! This experienced momma black Lab is ready for a life of pampering and belly rubs, proving that every dog deserves their own "O Magazine" cover (aka, a really comfy couch). Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Oprah (currently going by Daisy) is a sweet, shy and gentle girl! Daisy is shy and will take some time to warm up to new friends and build trust. But once she does she'll be giving you kisses and the most heartbreaking puppy eyes you've ever seen. She is very calm typically, she naps a lot and would love to join you in bed for cuddles! Daisy does get spooked by loud noises, sudden movements and certain random objects. She had a difficult six years and is continuing to decompress day by day. She loves pets and following you around the house. She prefers to be in the same room with you and will be your shadow! She loves going on walks, exploring, napping, and hot dog pieces! She is not likely to be a good companion for hikes/camping as her activity level is low and her joints ache! We believe she would likely do best in a calm household where she can be spoiled! She will truly be the best companion for the right family. Story | Oprah is a breeder surrender and has spent the first few years of her life living with 100 other labs on a property in Missouri. She's rasied several litters of her own and now she's ready to be the baby to her own devoted humans to share calm companionship and loving affection with.  Other Dogs | Her temp test and other run ins with dogs did not go well. She might be better off as the only dog in the home! This may or may not change as she further decompresses. Cats | Oprah hasn't been cat tested. All of the dogs (3 of the 9) pulled from the same breeder that have been cat tested ignore the resident cats so Oprah would likely do well with a cat.  Children | Oprah isn't being fostered with children at this time. She does not jump, has lower energy, and loves pets if you have her permission. Because Daisy is shy and gets spooked by loud noises and sudden movements etc, she would do well in a quieter home. She might do well with older kids or just children that will respect her boundaries and let her come to them! Training | She is potty trained and thats it. She has no name recall to "Oprah" but is starting to respond to "Daisy". She has a lot of learning to do but who says old dogs can't learn new tricks? Leash | Though not formally leash trained, Daisy is pretty good on a leash and will usually not pull unless we are passing by a dog or a person she would like to say hi to. She can't handle very long walks so we are building up her endurance.  Activity Level | Low Health Notes | Oprah is heartworm NEGATIVE. She will also be spayed in a few weeks. Daisy has sore joints; too many stairs at once or taller stairs are tough for her. We are trying to build muscle on her to help with this. She may not be the best for those who like to take their dogs on long hikes/walks. Thank you! General Notes | Sweet Zeppelin has experienced a lot of change in his short life! He's moved houses, adapted to new people, and has been the most wonderful puppy. He is potty trained, dog door trained, knows sit and come, and is the sweetest! This boy deserves a permanent forver, and is on the hunt for the perfect people to hike, cuddle, play, and rest with. Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Zeppelin is smart, patient, flexible, and continues to adapt to changing environments! He has learned the rules of his foster home fast, and done well in following them. He is sweet as they come - a total love, truly! Story | Despite his short life thus far, Zeppelin's road has been far from easy. He was initially adopted by a young adult at 8 weeks old, who then realized how hard having a puppy can be and decided to give him up. Because of this, Zeppelin bounced from place to place, without much stability in his caregivers or his environment, and eventually landed with a foster. Now, he is looking for his forever!  Other Dogs | Zeppelin is great with other dogs. Playful, with typical puppy energy, but reads cues well and is also happy to hang and rest.  Cats | Zeppelin has not been cat tested, so it's unknown how he would do with them.  Children | Zeppelin hasn't met many small children yet, but seems to like all people, so with proper introductions and training, could thrive in a home with kiddos!  Training | Zeppelin is house trained, dog door trained, knows sit and come, and is crate trained - what a DREAM!  Leash | Zeppelin is learning to walk on a leash, and doing well! He is still a puppy and it will take time.  Activity Level | Moderate Health Notes |  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | This big-hearted retriever mix is all joy and tail wags. Guapo’s the kind of dog who lights up the room—or the park—the moment he arrives. He loves meeting people and other dogs, and his happiness is downright contagious. Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Guapo is a social butterfly who would happily accept lifelong payment in the form of endless butt scratches. He’s got some good manners too—he knows “sit” and catches treats like a pro athlete. He walks well on leash, but he’s a strong boy, but very gentle. Story | Guapo was found as a stray in Houston, TX, and brought in to a high kill shelter. He was pulled from the EU list due to space reasons, and now can't wait to be a mile high pup! Other Dogs | Guapo is great with other dogs! Cats | Guapo hasn't met a kitty, so the rescue can't speak to how he would do with a cat.  Children | Guapo likes kind and gentle kiddos! This sweet boy loves everyone he meets!  Training | Guapo knows sit and is potty trained!  Leash | He walks well on a leash, but does pull when he's excited.  Activity Level | Moderate. His foster mom described him as a calm, chill baby who likes to lay out in the sun! Health Notes | Guapo is LOW heartworm positive, but treatment is very successful and completely manageable with all the proper education. MHLRM will cover the expense of treatment at one of our approved veterinarians. Heartworm positive dogs go on to live happy, normal lives after treatment and rarely experience long-term side effects. Don't let this stop you from adopting Guapo!  Thank you! Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption.   We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page! We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved.  Your application is good for one year from the date of applying for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle. show less
