General Notes | Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP. Health Notes | No health conerns. Other Dogs | Tabby is good with other dogs. She wants to play all the time, so she is working on learning to leave other dogs alone when they don't want to play anymore. Cats | She hasn't been around cats, but is a gentle dog and would most likely do fine. Children | Tabby hasn't been around children recently, but with people in general is shy and hesistant at first but then very cuddly and loving. Training | Tabby is incredibly smart and eager to please. She knows "sit" and "down" and is currently working on "stay". Continued training will be necessary to help her build her confidence. She doesn't love getting in the crate but does well once in, and sleeps all night in it without barking or crying. We are working on crate training and she is getting in the crate more happily every day. Tabby has an incredible nose and would porbably love to do scent work. Leash | Tabby is working on her leash manners - she is very curious and wants to smell everything. We have had success with a head halter. She becomes distracted when she sees other dogs, people, animals, etc. but doesn't bark. She does much better when running. Activity Level | Very high. Tabby is young, athletic, and very smart. She thrives with high amounts of engagement and activity, and could be a unbelievably loyal companion for an active and adventurous human! She loves running, which is a great outlet for her pent up energy. She plays fetch like a pro and will play all day if you let her. She will even play in the dark, using her nose to find the ball. She also enjoys slow feeders and food puzzles for mental engagement. Tabby would do well with another high energy dog to play with. As long as Tabby is given good mental and physical stimulation, she can settle down to rest throughout the day, and sleeps through the night like a champ. Personality | Tabby is a super sweet and curious young lab, but she lacks confidence. In her short life she has really lacked stability and consistency, which has resulted in anxiety. Despite all of this, Tabby does not have a mean bone in her body. She whines and barks for attention, but is learning quickly that those behaviors won't be rewarded. She is unbelievably smart, picking up on new rules and commands very quickly. Her big brain also makes her a bit mischevious, she loves finding your shoes or socks and coming to show them to you in an attempt to get you to play. Ultimately, she is a dog who will be bored (and potnetially destructive) unless consistently challenged both physically and mentally. Tabby is very tall and skinny and is definitely unaware of the length of her own limbs! This little baby giraffe loves to play with toys, both fetch and tug. She is scared and hesitant around new people, and tends to bark. However, as she gets comfortable she is really sweet and playful. She is much more nervous around men than women, but is being gradually exposed and desensitized. She loves to give kisses and squeeze herself into the tiniest gap on the couch as long as she can be beside you. Her motto in life seems "like it or not I will love you!". Story | Found as a stray in rural Texas. Thank you! | Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $475. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $700 per dog). Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page! We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved. Your application is good for 90 days from the time of approval for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle.
