General Notes | Buddy is a big ball of love and would thrive in a home where he can be around his family a lot, as he really enjoys human company. He loves cuddles and being close to foster mom. He might have a little separation anxiety but foster mom has seen big gains as he's settled in with her. He's very comfortable in his crate and spends time in there while foster mom is out of the house - sometimes he even goes in there on his own just to nap. He isn't easily startled and has been very calm and comfortable around groups of people (including kids). He seems to think it's every human's job to give him belly scratches and occasionally he can be a little pushy about getting affecction. Buddy is very interested in rabbits (and sometimes birds). Everyone who has met him has gushed about what a sweetheart he is. Health Notes | Other Dogs | Cats | probably not (they look too much like bunnies, which he'd really like to chase) Children | yes Training | We think Buddy must have had training at some point, as his manners and impulse control are wonderful. He is a super quick learner and very eager to please - he'll do just about anything for treats or affection from his foster mom. Leash | Buddy is great on leash. He's a calm, chill walker (more of a stroller, really) and has only pulled when he sees a bunny he wants to chase. He walks beside foster mom easily and likes to make stops to sniff along the way. Activity Level | So far Buddy has been pretty mellow. He doesn't seem interested in toys, sticks, or the splash pool foster mom has offered him. He might not be up for big hikes in the mountains, as he moves at a pretty leisurely pace on walks and tends to slow down after a long walk around the neighborhood. He does get excited any time we're getting ready to go on a walk and is especially peppy before our morning walk. Foster mom thinks he'd probably love a yard but he seems to do fine with lots of daily walks and time lounging on the patio with her while she works. Personality | 100% love bug Story | Buddy survived being shot and hit by a car and amazingly, made a full recovery. He still has a few bullets in him but you'd never know and he doesn't seem to have any lingering health effects. He's not reactive at all around cars and is a great backseat passenger. Buddy is new to Colorado from Texas and has been stealing humans' hearts since he landed. Thank you! | Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $475. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $700 per dog). Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page! We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved. Your application is good for 90 days from the time of approval for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle.
