General Notes | Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Health Notes | Light heartworm positive. Mile High will pay for treatment at one of our vets. Buddy was found with a large laceration on his leg that has since healed, but left a scar. It will most likely be less noticable once the hair grows back. The previous injury does not slow him down! Other Dogs | Good with dogs and likes to play! Cats | No exposure.  Children | He’s been around children and did well. He became overly excited when they were running around throwing a ball, but quickly calmed down with foster moms help. The more exposure he gets the more adjusted he will become.  Training | He is fully house trained and knows sit, down, come and working on stay. House manners are good but we are careful in the kitchen because he has counter surfing tendencies. Likes his kennel. Leash | Buddy walks well on a leash.  Activity Level | He really likes to play so he definitely has some puppy energy. He relaxes well. Personality | Buddy is a sweet, goofy and playful 13 month old fluffy lab. He will be a great addition to any family!  Story |  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Puppies to 1 year - $425, 1-6 years - $375, 7-10 years - $325, and 11+ years - $175. Purebreds are $475 regardless of age. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $600 per dog). Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only.  To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page! We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved.  Your application is good for 90 days from the time of approval for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle.  show less

Cats | Does very well with our cat. Was initially very curious about her but has learned she doesn't want to play, and really respects her space! General Notes | Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Are you looking for a shadow? Because that’s exactly what Sansa wants to be — your shadow! 🖤 This gorgeous girl came to us from New Mexico where we saved her with only an hour to spare. She’s been enjoying her second chance at life since! 🥰 Sansa is described as a “pro-cuddler.” She loves to lay on her humans and paws for pets. Foster dad says, “she’s super cute and has quite the character!” She currently sleeps in her crate with the door open, but would really love a mom or dad that lets her in the bed 😉 🐶 Sansa is happy around our dogs, but likes to be the alpha. She has a hard time sharing the attention of her people, so we recommend a home with an experienced dog owner. 👧🏼 She hasn’t been around too many kids, but does well when passing them on walks. She’s mostly just curious about them! ☀️ Speaking of walks, she loves them! It’s a great way to start her day or wind down before bedtime. She does well on a leash with a harness. 📚 Sansa is SO close to being fully house trained! Her foster is continuing to work with her and thinks she’ll get there soon. She’s also learning basic commands and house manners. Don’t miss your chance at helping Sansa fulfill her lifelong dream of becoming a shadow. General Notes | Gigi is a textbook young lab! She is energetic, sweet, playful, super friendly, and food motivated. As any young dog, she has energy that needs to be let out and some learning to do, but she is an eager student and would love to have a family of her own to show off what a good girl she can be😊. Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.     Health Notes | Healthy & Happy!  Other Dogs | Gigi is very friendly. She gets along well with the resident lab and has a healthy curiosity to meet other dogs we pass in the street. She did great at our first dog park outing, got a little nervous at times when other dogs were too pushy, but showed no aggression or reactivity towards them. Cats | 🤷‍♀️  Children | 🤷‍♀️  Training | We're working on solidifying her potty training and basic commands. She is food motivated and a smart girl, so training should be easy with a bit of time and patience. She has already learned how to use the doggie door and sleeps in her crate through the night. Leash | Walks well on a leash, she doesn't pull much but can get pretty distracted if she sees wild bunnies or other dogs. Activity Level | Medium. She is a young lab, so has lots of energy to burn, but does well with two 30min walks a day. She is also happy to cuddle up and nap during the day while her foster parents are working, enjoys chill nights by the TV, and loves to lay down for tummy rubs. Personality | Friendly, sweet, happy go lucky Story |  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | Nutmeg was an amazing moma for 5 puppies.  She has warmed up to her foster family.  At first she couldn't even go outside without help, poor girl.  Now she is exploring the backyard with the other dogs!  Her tail wags a lot when you talk to Nutmeg to let her know she is a good girl. This girl loves the outdoors just as much as snuggling up indoors   Health Notes | Happy & Healthy!  Recent Mama, but pups are welped and Nutmeg is ready to meet her forever family! Other Dogs | Nutmeg does really well with the family pups . Cats | Nutmeg's foster has a finiky cat.  This is the first time the cat approves of the foster #winning!  Children | Training | Learning her basic commands, after all, she was busy raising babies!  Leash | Nutmeg's foster is working with her everyday to get used to the leash Activity Level |  Personality | VERY sweet and a bit timid at first.  It will take time for Nutmeg to warm up, not going to lie.  BUT if you put in the time, you will get it back 10 fold, says foster Mom.  Nutmegs foster family gave Nutmeg love & support with lots of space, but constant encouragement and lots of love and trust is what they got in return from Nutmeg!!  Story |  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | Enrico is pure love and he will be a great dog who will really bring his happiness to his family.        Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.     Health Notes | Enrico is heartworm positive, but don't let this stop you from adopting Rico!!  MHLRM will cover the expense of treatment with one of our appoved vetrinarians. Heartworm positive dogs go on to live happy, normal lives after treatment and rarely experience long-term side effects.  Other Dogs | Rico gets along fine with his foster brother, but seems to co-exist with his doggie friends more than running and wrestling with them. Enrico is strong and can intimidate some submissive dogs when he gets worked up. Foster Dad is giving him lots of training and this smart boy likes it! Cats | No experience, but Enrico is a lover. Children | No experience but we assume he would be good as he is very calm and loving.  He is good with his foster's 83 year old dad. Training | Rico's foster says he is fully housetrained and crate trained. He is allowed to free roam when his foster dad is gone and the most trouble he got in was carrying dirtys socks from the floor to his bed.  He does great at night and sleeps on a dog bed in the bedroom or on the couch in the living room.   Leash | He does pretty well on a leash and loves to go on walks.  Activity Level | For a Labrador, Rico is fairly low energy, and he always wants to be wherever the humans are.  He will get fired up outside now and then, but generally he is right next to someone looking for pets.  But he can also curl up on the couch for cuddles or just rest time. Personality | Enrico is pure love and he will be a great dog who will really bring his happiness to his family. Story | Enrico comes from a huge, high-kill shelter in south Texas.    Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age. General Notes Rosie is a super friendly, passive, submissive girl who loves to be around her people. She looooves to snuggle and thinks she is a lap dog. 💜 Luckily she's only 35 lbs.  She loves to play but is a master napper as well.  She loves chewing on bones and playing with toys. Health Notes Rosie came to us with skin issues due to neglect but has been treated and is looking fantastic! Other Dogs | In Texas she was fostered in a home with one large male English Lab, a med/large male pit-mix, and a bossy 7lb female Shih Tzu mix. She got along well with all.  She gets along well with her current foster brother in Colorado as well. Cats | There are no cats in her foster home but she is very gentle and doesn't seem as interested in squirrels as her foster brother is. Children | Great! youngest in her Texas foster home was 16.  She is very gentle so would likely do well with kids of all ages.  Training | She is house trained and great in the car. We are working on crate training. She sleeps through the night in her crate and sometimes just goes in it to hang out during the day.  She knows sit.  Her foster family is still learning what she knows and working on basic commands. Leash | She walks well on a leash. She pulls some but circles back to check on her human frequently or walks beside you at times as well. Activity Level | Rosie is medium energy. She loves to play but can happily cuddle on the couch. Personality | Happy and friendly. She's a little timid at first but warms up fast. Story | Rosie was found as a stray.  Thank you! Other Dogs | Maggie loves running with the big dogs!  She plays nicely and is not protective of her toys or food.  She loves to cuddle whether it be right next to our MHLM alum or on her humans. Cats | No issue with the introduction to our cat.  She was curious but not aggressive.  This is the perfect age to introduce Maggie to cats! Children |  We are unsure. Training | This little girl is doing so well with her overall training!  She goes to the door when it's time to potty!!  She knows how to sit and come.  She is 100% food motivated but she will "wait" to eat until she is given the "OK" command.  She will walk on a leash nicely and she does well off-leash in a contained area.  She is crate trained and will happily go in it while we are gone or at night.  She sleeps in it 8 hours without a peep!  She is so smart and wants nothing more than to please!   Leash |  No issues....she walks fine on a leash and does great! Activity Level | Normal lab puppy activity level.  Plays hard  then crashes when it is nap time.  Maggie would for sure enjoy a home with another dog.  She thinks snow is awesome and loves playing outside!  She is teething but chews on her toys -- not humans!   Personality | This puppy is the BEST!!!!  She loves to play, get belly rubs and snuggle.   She is independent, curious, bold and brave.  She loves her people and when it is time to rest, she will crawl up in your lap for a nap. She is very well adjusted and socialized.  We have been introducing all kinds of sounds and circumstatnces and she is going great!!  She just needs to know "it's ok" and she settles in.    Story | Maggie, her littermates and her momma were dumped in a park before her eyes were open.  They were rescued and put into a loving foster home.  They are very loving and well socialized.   Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age. Cats | No exposure yet Children | Little exposure so far, but will do great if introduced at a young age Training | Still learning on pads Leash | Too young Activity Level | Typical lab level! Very curious and confident. Personality | Sweet and loving Story | Momma Nutmeg came to MHLR pregnant and had 5 healthy babies. Momma is a Chocolate Lab mix, but based on their appearance, we suspect dad to have some Pitty in him. Eggnog and Gingerbread are currently in the same foster home with several foster siblings to teach them the ropes. Gingerbread is the confident spunky one with tons of love to give. She always wants to play or be by your side. She will make a very loyal and joyful addition to any family. She would do wonderfully with another playful dog at home or an active family that will keep her socialized and exercised.
