General Notes | Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Health Notes | No health issues noted - been fostering her since 5/17/23. Other Dogs | does great with other dogs as long as they approach slow.  She's still a puppy so gets scared. Cats | not sure - no exposure Children | super sweet - no agressiveness.  She just loves people immediately so may get excited. Training | In the time that we've had her she's learned to sit when getting a treat without even being told now. We have not allowed her on furniture and she's done great with that. She has also mastered going up and down the stairs. She is very smart! We are working on leave it and come. Leash | she is a puppy and part border collie at that which you can see when she walks. She started out going back-and-forth across our path, but we have continue to see progress daily with her. She loves her walks, and patiently waits for us to put the collar on and to go out the door. Activity Level she definitely has puppy energy. Loves to be outside and just watch the activities. She is great at entertaining herself.  She would love to be somebody's running partner for sure. We have also noticed that she loves water and will try and walk through whatever water she can find. Personality | the first word I would choose is sweet. She loves to be around people and will snuggle with you day and night. She also loves to please, and is very gentle with taking treats and with giving kisses. She is crate trained.  We leave the door open during the day and she goes in there to take naps and chill.  She also does well being put in the crate when we leave the house. The first night we brought her home we had her up in our bedroom on a big dog bed and she's done great there ever since. Story | she was found on the side of the road in Arkansas with who seems to be her mother. She is being fostered by someone else. There is no other known story about her. She is current on all of her shots, has been micro chipped, and spayed about a month ago.  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $475. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $700 per dog). General Notes  Hi I'm Duece! My foster parents are calling me Kevin.. I just like hanging with them so it's all good with me whatever they call me.  I am a year old and I have a more mellow demeanor than expected for my age  I will play with my foster siblings, it is my favorite thing, and then I'll go lay down for a while. I really like to lounge around, but I am starting to like these dog beds around the house. I am potty trained! I love cuddles and toys! I have been great at fetch and keep-a-way. I play very well my with foster sister too. I have learned to leave the old lady foster dog alone, she doesn't want to play with me. Also when my other siblings want to calm down I get the memo and go lay down in a doggie bed.  Working on learning this "doggie door" idea, my sisters just disappear through a portal to the outside, so confusing!  I learned yesterday that I maybe allergic to Chicken -- I got sneaky and ate my foster sibs food and I was SO SO itchy all night! But the next morning I am better since I ONLY ate my salmon food.    I have happy to be around people and other dogs,  I am learning basic commands now. I do know what "Come" means, but working on "sit" and " lay down"  and will be a pro soon! Plus I get these tasty treats too.  | Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Health Notes | healthy except for some demodex which we are treating.  Other Dogs | loves other dogs! He was a shelter favorite and wiggly and happy around other dogs and people. Love them!  Cats | unknown  Children | unknown  Training | learning the basics now   Leash | walked well on a  leash at the shelter. Activity Level | medium energy, mellow when needs to be and ready to go when needed   Personality | sweet, happy and wiggly. Love to cuddle and be called a "good boy" Story | sprung from a EU list at the shelter where I was found as a stray and getting the medical treat and love I need in CO!  I would love to meet you!  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | Benny is a sweet and loving puppy. He has a lot of energy and loves to play, but is very smart and food motivated, so he will likely do well with some basic training. He has already mastered sit, and comes when called. Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Health Notes |  Other Dogs | Benny loves other dogs Cats | Would probably chase a cat Children | Friendly with kids Training | Benny is starting to learn some basic commands and will likely be a very quick learner. Eager to please.  Leash | Walks very well on a leash Activity Level | High activity, young adult / older puppy. But will settle down and snuggle up as well. Personality | Benny is super sweet, friendly, and loving. He stays close by and loves contact and connection. He loves people (including children) and dogs, and loves to play! Story | Benny was found as a stray in New Mexico. He has some welts and scars around his head and neck that you cannot see, but you can feel when you pet him. He is also missing an upper canine. Both of these could indicate former abuse, but he shows no ill will towards anyone if that is the case. He is just sweet through and through.  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | Hola! My name is Milagros, my foster family calls me “Mila”. I recently imigrated from Guadalajara Mexico and am excited to find my forever family in Colorado.  I am a 1 year old Pug mix. I am such a sweet girl and will make a great addition to any family.  Want to adopt me?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.  Health Notes | Healthy. Other Dogs | Great!. Mila loves other dogs. She has met multiple neighbor dogs with good introductions and no issues. She is friendly with her housemate, and they get along well. Cats: unknown Children | Mila likes people and is gentle. She has liked the kids she met and think she would enjoy a house with or without kids. Training | Mila warmed up quickly with treats and love.  She has mastered name recognition and is house broken. She prefers to be near people and happily curls up on blankets to chill out. Mila is treat motivated! Any sound of a treat bag and you have her attention!  She is learning quickly with rewards. She is consistent with a twice a day outside potty/poop and an occasional third potty.  She gets her business done quickly.  Mila likes walks and has stamina to play but is very happy inside most of the time.  We have been kennel training with meals, treats, love and rawhides.  She now enters the kennel more freely for meals and bedtime. Sometimes she still needs a little encouragement. When placing her in the kennel, she may whine lightly for 5-10 minutes then settles down without any problem.  Once settled into a new home, she could probably be kennel optional as she doesn’t show any signs of being destructive. Leash | Mila has taken quickly to the leash and welcomes it when time to go outside.  A little leash training would help but she is doing well overall! She loves to run and play in the yard and likes to play ball for ~ 5 minutes. She is interested in chasing the birds. She could be happy with or without a yard, she seems to prefer to be inside..  Activity Level | low to moderate. Mila is an energetic 1 year old. She also settles down for rest, entertains herself and initiates play with people and dogs. With her small size she can run around the house on her own and would not require alot of outside time.  She likes to play with stuffies, rope, balls and rawhides.   Personality | SO SO sweet, snuggly and playful, we love Mila!! She is an adorable girl who likes to be close to people. Mila loves to play with toys. She is even learning a little lab by fetching tennis balls too!  She has been ‘toy appropriate’ and has not attempted to chew or take anything that isn’t for a dog. She absolutely loves rawhide chew toys and playing with stuffies.  She has a good balance of play and rest. She will play together, play alone and take breaks to sit or rest.    She has been good with the family and other people that she has met. She has relaxed more into our home, preferring to be near people but has relaxed into being alone in a room without distress. Story | Imigrated from Guadalajara Mexico. Thank you! | Adoption Donations | Puppies to 1 year - $425, 1-6 years - $375, 7-10 years - $325, and 11+ years - $175. Purebreds are $475 regardless of age. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $600 per dog). General Notes | Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Health Notes | Sydney is becoming an energetic puppy again now that she's done being a young mama. She has a great appetite, and is not a picky eater, which has helped her gain weight back after her puppies. When she had a recent wellness appointment, the vet diagnosed her with entropion which is an abnormality of the eyelid. Sydney  had surgery to correct this issue when she was spayed, and is recovering well. (MHLM covered the costs of both procedures.)   Other Dogs | She's sharing the house with our Mile High Alum Poppy, a 90 pound female black lab who is extremely friendly and a bit rambunctious. She loves playing chase with Poppy in the yard, and she is FAST! She has met a few other dogs while on lead and has had mixed reactions. She does best when there is plenty of room to move around, if she feels cornered at all she gets stressed. She met a pug puppy who was a little too wild for her.   Cats | Not tested Children | Not tested but I think she'd be good with children who are old enough to understand when she needs space / sleep. She loves to play.  Training | She will be a work in progress, she's polite and gentle and now sits for treats and dinner, her recall is getting good although I think it's just her personality - she likes to be around whoever she's walking / playing with.  Leash | Gentle on leash, loves walking and stopping to smell the roses. She's still a bit of a puppy in terms of leash biting when she gets excited, but we're working on it.  Activity Level | She loves to zoom around, she would do really well with a yard large enough to run in. She's pretty sneaky and can squeeze through very small spaces, so it needs to be really secure. When she's not running around she'll chill out on her favorite bed or rug while we work.   Personality | Very sweet, she's warming up to the family and follows me around all the time, she seems to prefer females over males. She has some separation anxiety issues. We are working on crate training (she loves sleeping in her crate, as long as it's not locked). She would do best with someone who is home most of the time. She can be a bit destructive when left alone (watch your slippers!), but I think as she builds confidence and has more training this can be resolved.  Story |  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Health Notes |  Other Dogs | Gets along well with other dogs, but generally doesn't engage much with them. Cats | Not very interested in cats; just sniffs them and then leaves them alone. Children | Russ did great meeting children of all ages at the adoption event! Training | Very treat motivated, which will make him easy to train! He knows sit and touch and is working on lay down. Leash | Walks really well on leash; only pulls a bit if he gets spooked. Sometimes he will stop and resist, but it's easy to get him to move along. Activity Level | Moderate - he's very content just snuggling up on the couch, but still gets his bursts of energy from time to time. Personality | So very sweet. And the calmest puppy I have ever fostered. Russ loves to be by his owners as much as possible; if you sit down on the couch, expect some company soon! Mild energy levels for a puppy, but did great in social situations just gets excited and loves the attention! General Notes | Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Health Notes | Healthy  Other Dogs | Great with other dogs, lets them lead and he loves to play in yards and chase balls with them. However, will shy away from little dogs and those who bark at him. (He has a gentle soul.) Cats | Don't know Children |  Hasn't met any yet. He responds well to "off" with adults. Training | He learned to sit in the first day and we are working on paw now! He's working on potty training, basic manners, and leash pulling.  However, quickly responds to a reset prompt to refocus.  Catching on the "heel" very quickly!  He is an angel in training.   Leash | Needs work, but up until now so he's a rock star for only being 4 days in! Activity Level | Loves to play in the morning after sleeping through the night.  If he doesn't get his morning energy out in a yard or on a walk, anticipate the zoomies and wanting to chew on new toys. Personality | The biggest lover!  Story | From what I understand he was kenneled his whole life which explains how everything is new to him. Truly has 8-12 week-old puppy mentality in a strong more developed body.  He is incredibly smart.  Rusty is going to be your best friend at the park, hikes, walk and will need positive reinforcement.  He doesn't understand his shadow or reflection yet. He is going to need an active and attentive family and possibly a dog sibling to teach him how to dog.  He has found a ton of comfort in coping what other dogs do.  If you're willing to put in the work he'll be an amazing fit! #coloradodog Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | Gusty is a wonderful dog and will make a terrific family pet.  He is loving  and very gentle.   Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Health Notes | He is a healthy young lab! Other Dogs | Gusty gets along great with his foster lab-mix sister who is 3 years old and has been teaching him the ropes.  He has been responding nicely to her boundary setting. Cats | NA Children | He has a 5 year old foster human sister and they get along very well! Training | Well - this smart boy is catching on.  He came to his foster home not knowing how to be a house dog.  His manners were less than optimal - he jumped up on people, he was not house trained and he was a shoe and food thief.   That's the bad news, here is the good news, he is learning fast!  Because Gusty is so intelligent and has a strong desire to please, he is learning fast!  In less than a week, he is nearly potty trained, he rarely jumps up anymore, he knows "No", "Off" and "Leave It".  Next on the training agenda, "Sit, Stay and Down".  He willingly goes into his kennel, sometimes with redirection, but he doesn't bark or whine.  He sleeps quietly all night until he wakes up in the morning and has to go outside to go potty.  He also goes into his open kennel during the day to take naps.  Gusty needs a family that will continue working with him on his training - he will need patience, consistency and time.  He is an amazing dog. Leash | He is fantastic on a leash! Activity Level | Normal young lab energy level.  Personality | Gusty is a gentle and very loving. Health Notes | Appears healthy. Recently spayed we think. Other Dogs | Loves other dogs Cats | Will chase cats Children | Good / gentle with children Training | Needs to learn some basic commands. Seems to be pretty well housetrained.  Leash | Walks well on a leash. Could use some additional training, but she has a great base. Activity Level | Maizie loves to play and go on walks, and she would be a great hiking companion. However, she also likes to lounge and snuggle, and she has no problem settling down. Personality | Maizie is super friendly, calm, and gentle. She has a very curious nature and will explore her surroundings. She seems to love all people - adults children, men and women - as well as other dogs. She definitely needs more training, but she is such an easy dog and a good personaility, that she gets by pretty well on the limited training she has.  Story | Maizie was found on the side of the highway as a stray in Texas and picked up and brought to a shelter. She was adopted out of the shetler by MHLM and transported to Colorado. Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age.
