General Notes | Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP. Health Notes | Sydney is becoming an energetic puppy again now that she's done being a young mama. She has a great appetite, and is not a picky eater, which has helped her gain weight back after her puppies. When she had a recent wellness appointment, the vet diagnosed her with entropion which is an abnormality of the eyelid. Sydney had surgery to correct this issue when she was spayed, and is recovering well. (MHLM covered the costs of both procedures.) Other Dogs | She's sharing the house with our Mile High Alum Poppy, a 90 pound female black lab who is extremely friendly and a bit rambunctious. She loves playing chase with Poppy in the yard, and she is FAST! She has met a few other dogs while on lead and has had mixed reactions. She does best when there is plenty of room to move around, if she feels cornered at all she gets stressed. She met a pug puppy who was a little too wild for her. Cats | Not tested Children | Not tested but I think she'd be good with children who are old enough to understand when she needs space / sleep. She loves to play. Training | She will be a work in progress, she's polite and gentle and now sits for treats and dinner, her recall is getting good although I think it's just her personality - she likes to be around whoever she's walking / playing with. Leash | Gentle on leash, loves walking and stopping to smell the roses. She's still a bit of a puppy in terms of leash biting when she gets excited, but we're working on it. Activity Level | She loves to zoom around, she would do really well with a yard large enough to run in. She's pretty sneaky and can squeeze through very small spaces, so it needs to be really secure. When she's not running around she'll chill out on her favorite bed or rug while we work. Personality | Very sweet, she's warming up to the family and follows me around all the time, she seems to prefer females over males. She has some separation anxiety issues. We are working on crate training (she loves sleeping in her crate, as long as it's not locked). She would do best with someone who is home most of the time. She can be a bit destructive when left alone (watch your slippers!), but I think as she builds confidence and has more training this can be resolved. Story | Thank you! | Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $475. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $700 per dog). Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page! We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved. Your application is good for 90 days from the time of approval for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle
