General Notes | Rosie or "RoRo" is blossoming into a lovely, sweet, playful young lady and has made remarkable progress in the short time her foster dad has had her.  She has gone from being a scared and shy girl, who, along with her sisters and other dogs, were kept locked up with no socialization and very little to no outdoor time, and has become an energetic and fun goofball that is thriving off of being loved and being allowed to explore the great outdoors while on leash, and being allowed to run around and explore the dog park off leash.  She would do great with a fenced in backyard, but not nessicary.  She loves playing with her toys, especially her tennis balls.  She is doing well around other dogs and she really likes meeting people as well.  So for she has done well around the handful of children she has been exposed to.  She is making great progress on her crate training and has done well in staying in there all night without barking or whining, unless she needs to go outside soon.  She has also done well being left in her crate for up to a few hours during the daytime when her foster dad needs to step away to run some errands.  Potty training is going well too.  The key to success with her has been to take her out immediately upon waking up in the morning, then again after she has her breakfast, during afternoon break, and again in the evening.  Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Curious, Playful, Kind, Sweet, Loving Story | Surrendered to MHLRM by a puppy mill. Other Dogs | Has done well thus far, but is still a bit fightened or concerned around other dogs who bark loudly, but have seen progress being made here. Cats | Hasn't been tested yet, but her foster dad thinks she would do well around cats.  Children | Thus far she has nothing but wags and kisses for the children she has met.  Training | She will need basic obedience and will benefit from additional obedience training.  Leash | Making progress with leash training! Activity Level | Medium activity level.  She is still somewhat of a puppy and likes to play and explore, but also likes to take naps.  Who doesn't?  Health Notes | Seems to be in good health.  Scheduled to be spayed the week of 7/8.  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $525. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $700 per dog). Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only.  To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. General Notes | Hello, I'm Gabe! I don't want to brag, but I am just about the goodest boy there is. I am sweet, loving, goofy, very well mannered (no begging here!) and aim to please. I love being around my people, and the only thing I may love more is being around other dogs. I am a favorite of the owner of my doggy day care (ok, now I'm bragging!) and have never met a dog I didn't like or want to say hello to. Health Notes | I am a healthy boy, am up to date on my vaccines, and don't mind going to the vet! Other Dogs | Yes, please! I am a regular at my doggy day care and love, love, love my four-legged friends I've met there! I am an only dog currently, although would love the opportunity to live with other dogs. No dogs at home? Thats ok - just let me say hi to any that I meet to get my fill! Cats | I have a strong prey drive so best not to have me around cats, chickens, etc. I do live with a cat currently and we do co-exist. But, I'm a fun loving guy so love a game of chase, which my cat sibling isn't overly fond of. Children | I don't live with children currently but have certainly been around them. I may not be my best self around younger children just as unpredictable movements and noises and grabbing hands can be a lot to take in. I am a very patient boy, but am used to having my boundaries and space respected so older children may be best for me. Training | I am house trained and am very respectful of things that arent my own. When at home, I am happy and content being where ever my people are, and don't have any inclination to be destructive. I do have a crate and use it for meal time and bed time. I know all the basic commands and have the capacity to learn even more I am that smart and eager to please!  Leash | Terrific! No pulling here - I'm a big fan of walking next to you with a loose leash! You will never have to worry about me embarassing you on walks, I promise to make you look good! Activity Level | Medium to High. I spend most weekdays with my friends in doggy day care so get to burn some serious energy off there. When not hanging with my friends, being active is still a must. I love physical and mental stimulation and walk around 1-2 miles on my non-day care days. Personality | I'm mellow, cooperative, and respond well to approval. I am a sweet goofy boy who just wants to feel part of a pack. I'm handsome and have been told my kind soulful eyes and sweet disposition make me hard to resist. I am a big fan of the ladies (and they me!). I often gravitate to females, but am not fearful of men - I just may need some time to warm but I'll come around! A head scratch, treats, or a car ride are sure fire ways to my heart. Story | I was rescued from Texas by Mile High Lab Mission in 2022, and was adopted by a family in CO that saw what a catch I was. Sadly, a change in employement and caretaking schedules is forcing my family to make an incredibly difficult decision to have MHLM find me a new home, as they know I have so much exploring to do and love to give and they want me to have all of that and more! They are not rehoming me due to any fault of my own!  Thank you! | Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. He is crate trained, doing very well on house training, and loves everyone especially other dogs. He plays hard and loves affection. Rillo is eager to please, he can still be shy at times but with encouragement he thrives! New things are a bit intimidateing but with patience he warms up quickly like it was never a concern. He would be a good hiking buddy or swimming buddy, he loves water! Leash training is going well and Rillo is the perfect backseat passenger. You will adore this pup! Republic came to us very timid, not knowing how to be a puppy. I'm happy to share that in just two short days he is coming out of his shell and enjoying life. Give a senior dog a second chance at life! Meet Penelope, the most affectionate dog you will ever meet ❤️  Personality | Sweet as can be! Ms. Penelope is the most gentle and loving dog. Mellow girl who absolutely loves people.  Her foster has  a 3.5 year old daughter and whether she is watching tv, playing calmly on the floor, or having a sobbing meltdown, Penelope will try get as close to her as possible.  She has little bursts of excitement from time to time, like when it’s time to eat or when I first come home.  She loves balls and will occasionally play with stuffed toys.  Story | Sweet Penelope was found wandering the streets. She was taken to the local shelter by animal control and no one ever came to claim her. It appears she was on the streets for awhile.  Other Dogs | Great. Gets along great with the three dogs in her foster home.  Cats | Unsure as the foster has no cats. Children | Friendly Training She sleeps quietly through the night on a dog bed, though clearly would prefer to be in your bed if allowed.  She is fully house trained and enjoys going for walks.  She is not leash reactive.   Leash | Gentle. She will walk nicely beside you unless there is someone to great. Then she will get excited and tug a little. Something you can easily work on! Activity Level | Medium-low. Penelope may be 10 years old but still has plenty of energy to go on a nice walk or play with a ball. She taps her little toes and wags her tail in excitement when you greet her. She'd make a great companion to an adopter looking for an easy-going, laid back dog. Health Notes | Penelope is heartworm positive, but treatment is very successful and completely manageable with all the proper education. MHLRM will cover the expense of treatment at one of our approved veterinarians. Heartworm positive dogs go on to live happy, normal lives after treatment and rarely experience long-term side effects. She's super curious about the world around her and warms up quickly. When she's not napping, she has bursts of playfulness that are quite hilarious. She would love to have a dog sibling (or two!) to follow and learn from. She's never shown any aggression toward people or other dogs, is very quiet, and a good listener. She doesn't resource guard and tends to be submissive. We've brought her out to restaurants and she lays quietly in the company of other dogs - what a good girl! She's also never had an accident! Stormy wants to be around her favorite humans because she experiences FOMO. She’s learning to be comfortable alone and her food motivation and intelligence are a big plus! Scoop up this very good girl. Story | Storm and several other dogs were confiscated in a neglect case. They were living outdoors amongst trash and debris. Other Dogs | Friendly! Cats | Unknown, but hasn't showed any prey behavior around rabbits or squirrels. Children | Potentially best around kids 8-10+. She's never exhibited any aggression, she's just cautious around sudden movements! Leash | Stormy's a great walker on a leash and loves a few good sniffs. Activity Level | Medium! Stormy likes to spend her days solving puzzles, chewing bully sticks, and sleeping on the couch. Love the lab personality with a golden look? Theo has it all! Personality | Theo is a sweet and loving golden retriever/lab mix that loves to play. He'd be a great companion to someone who enjoys exploring the outdoors. He would make a great running buddy! Theo loves to be petted and will give very gently kisses when allowed. He is such a lover! He has a strong spirit and goofy personality that will serve him well with additional training. After playtime, Theo loves to cuddle up with you! Story | Found roaming the streets of Texas. Taken to local shelter by animal control.  Other Dogs | Theo really likes other dogs. He's always encouraging his foster brother to play with him! He takes corrections from other dogs well when it's time to settle down. His foster brother really seems to enjoy his energy and loves zooming around the back yard in a game of chase or a tug of war session.   Cats | Theo is cat curious but in just a day he went from lunging and barking at the cat to sitting quietly and sniffing the cat.  Children | Fosters feel like he would love children! He's such a sweet dog. We imagine he will thrive in a family environment. Given his size and playful energy, we encourage supervision with little kiddos to make sure Theo doesn't knock them over 😉 Training | Theo is a blank slate with lots of potential for training! He will come most of the time, and is working on sitting like a good boy. Like most Labs, Theo will occassionally pick up and chew something that isn't his. Best to keep your shoes and belongings put away until he learns! 👟  Theo is doing great with potty training. He knows to go outside to do his business. He has only been in the crate once and did great 👏 He laid down and did not cry or whine when alone in the crate. Even when fosters arrived home, he sat nicely waiting to be let out.  He has free access to roam at night.  Leash | Theo is pretty good on leash and can pull a bit, but takes correction quite well. For a dog with little training he seems quite comfortable on leash.  Activity Level | Theo is an energetic boy that would love an active adopter to take him on daily walks, runs or hikes. After exercise and love, he is happy to settle in and relax. Now and then he will howl a bit and let you know he is ready for action 😂  Health Notes | Theo is heartworm positive, but treatment is very successful and completely manageable with all the proper education. MHLRM will cover the expense of treatment at one of our approved veterinarians. Heartworm positive dogs go on to live happy, normal lives after treatment and rarely experience long-term side effects. Don't let this stop you from adopting Theo!    He is also under treatment for Demodex, which is a non-contagious skin condition that should clear up over the next few months. As you can see from all his photos, his coat is growing back in so nicely! That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page! We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved.  Your application is good for 90 days from the time of approval for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle.  show less
