Rusty was rescued from a horribly neglectful situation and is looking for someone to give him all the love that he deserves. Despite being treated so badly, he is trusting, happy, playful and oh so, so incredibly sweet. He gets along with his foster dog sibling and is a perfect gentleman with his young human brother and sister. What is foster mom says about him… -He’s smart. Learned to use a dog door in less than a day and has never had an accident inside -He walks well on a leash -He’s not destructive. He has discovered the joy of dog toys and bones and chews appropriately. If he picks up something he’s not supposed to have, he immediately drops it when you tell him to “leave it” -Food motivated, but not aggressive. He came to his foster home needing to gain a lot of weight, so he loves a good meal or a treat, but he’s not rude about getting them. -At a little over a year old, he’s puppy playful, but doesn’t have an excessive amount of energy. He plays in the yard or goes on a walk and then he’s ready for a nap. This guy is just so sweet and well behaved. All he wants is someone to give him treats and love. Can you be that person? Heath Notes: Rusty was found starving and malnourished. He has gained about 15 lbs in foster care, but still has a few more to gain. He had severe cases of ringworm and mange and is currently getting a weekly medicated bath, fish oil and probiotics.  None of these are prescription or expensive. His skin has healed and his hair is growing back in beautifully. He just gets more and more handsome by the day. show less

General Notes | Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Health Notes | Very healthy. Needs to be neutured immediately Other Dogs | good with other dogs Cats |  Children | good with children Training | knows sit and down (sort of) Comes when he is called.  Leash | Does not fight the leash, but is an explorer and wants to approach other dogs Activity Level | typical one year old ENERGY! Loves to fetch the ball andplay with toys Personality | Bandit is a happy, sweet, and energetic dog. He is working on his social skills and respecting other dogs' space and his human's space. He is not a barker - even to go outside. He is house trained (99%). He is fine when I put his leash on and enjoys going for a walk. He is a little spastic on the leash since he's never been taught to walk with his human. He seems to have been taught to play rough with hand nipping, mouthing, and jumping. He will put my arm in his mouth and sometimes pull on my sleeve. I don't think he is trying to hurt me, but it is an aggessive play style for which he needs training. He does not like to be told "no" and gets worked up if he gets in trouble. We are working on his jumping, as it is sometimes a surprise and could be risky if he does this to a child trying to play with him. He sometimes jumps up on my back if he wants my attention. Not crate trained, but we are slowly introducing him to the crate with treats and toys. He sleeps on the bed with us - mostly. He will explore the house and possibly find something to chew. :( He is slowly understanding that humans are the leaders of the pack but they give lots of love, attention, and treats.  Story | He stepped in the shower with me this morning and loved it. I took Bandit to my office to socilize him and he did awesome. He approached and allowed people to pet him and snuggle him - and he fell asleep for a few hours.  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $375 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $325 for 1-6 years, $275 for dogs 7-10 years, and $125 for 11+ years of age.
