General Notes | Hi, my name is Paxton (Pax)! I am 7- 1/2 months old and am a smaller lab than usual (only about 35 lbs), but my foster mommy says that I have as much personality as a puppy twice my size! I have a lot of enthusiasm about life and much excitement about finding my family. If I had a magic lamp and could choose the perfect family to call my own, I’d hope for a family with kids to play with or another dog-friendly dog or maybe a Mom/Dad who are active and home a lot. My foster mommy says that when I got to Colorado, I had no skills and no manners at all. She says I was like the Tasmanian Devil, but I’ve come a very long way since then! I am comfortable being in my crate and feel safe there. I sleep there (unless you’ll let me sleep with you...??) and eat my food there. I love, LOVE food and treats of all kinds, so treats are how I’ve learned how to “focus”,“sit”, “lie down”, “wait”, “come”, and I’m still excited about learning new things. I’ve learned the 1st half of “fetch”... meaning that I’ll chase after a ball or stick and pounce on it, but I haven’t quite learned how to bring it back yet. I’ve had to make all the decisions in my life so far, but I’d rather let you be the boss of me. I’m really smart, so it won’t take me long to learn what you want me to do... especially with treats that smell like bacon! I love being around kids... and kids LOVE being around me! I’m on the small side, so I kinda fit well with kids’ size and energy. I also love toys and sticks to chew on. I play really hard, then I want to snuggle & cuddle with you. Would you cuddle with me and let me love you??? I’m learning how to do better walking on a leash because sometimes I get distracted by all the sights & smells on a walk, so be patient with me, ok? It’s all new to me, but I’ll definitely get the hang of it. More than anything, I just want to be part of your family and do things together forever! Signed, Paxton Personality | Pax has learned some basic commands like "Come!", "Sit", "Off!" and "Wait" when the crate door is opened. He loves being in his crate, especialy if he has a chew-toy to keep him company. He has a vibrant personality and is thrilled to meet new people. He loves children! He would love to be in an active home. He'll run alongside you, then, he'll curl up beside you and snooze while you catch your breath! He loves to explore outside, but can tend to get distracted on a walk, so be ready to redirect him. He'll learn very soon. He LOVES treats and is food motivated, so as long as you have some yummies in your pocket, you have his attention! Story | Other Dogs | Pax does great with other dogs and loves to chase the tennis ball with his foster brother. He is easily correctable by dogs who establish boundaries. Cats | Not sure Children | Pax does GREAT with children!!! He is in a home where his foster teaches music to all ages of kids. He loves them all and they love him! Training | This young'en is housetrained and sleeps in his crate like a real pro! He is a smart boy and is catching on to basic obedience commands. He knows "Come!", "Sit", "Off!" and "Wait" when the crate door is opened. Leash | Working on it, he just needs practice! Activity Level | Playful, active puppy! Health Notes | Healthy and Happy! Thank you! | Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $475. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $700 per dog). Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page! We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved. Your application is good for 90 days from the time of approval for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle.
