General Notes | Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Tyson is super affectionate and loves to be with people. He is very calm overall, and is a food lover! He is eager to learn new tricks and his manners are improving quickly. Because he is so tall, counter surfing is no problem for him, but he responds well to "leave it" when you catch him in time! He loves his crate, sleeps all night in it, and is fully housebroken. He is also a great companion during the day and doesn't have very high energy to need lots of physical activity (but he could definitely be a good running and hiking buddy if that's what you're into!). He was excellent in the bath and in the car - he's just ready to do whatever you are!  Story | Tyson was a stray intake at a Texas shelter. He was on the EU list due to space. He is slowly gaining weight and it's clear he's been well loved in a home at some point in his past given his demeanor and how well behaved he is.  Other Dogs | temperamwnt test showed he is good with other dogs, but his foster does not have other dogs Cats | unknown, but doesn't seem prey driven when outside Children | He is so patient and well-behaved with his foster's young children.  Training | Knows sit, leave it, and is working on stay and come (but generally comes when you call him).  Leash | pulls some, but will respond well to training and treats Activity Level | moderate - he seems ready for whatever you want to do (even if it's have a lazy day at home!) Health Notes | Tyson is heartworm positive. MHLRM will cover the expense of treatment with one of our approved veterinarians. Heartworm positive dogs go on to live happy, normal lives after treatment and rarely experience long-term side effects. Don't let this stop you from adopting Tyson! Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $475. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $700 per dog). Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only.  To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page! General Notes | Paco (or Taco as his foster family calls him) is a gentle sweet boy who is loving his new life in Colorado! Paco is smart, funny, sweet, gentle and eager to please! He's 50lbs, around two years old, has low to moderate energy (he loves to sleep on the couch all day) and doesn't shed or bark. He gets along great with the three other dogs in his foster home, and is more passive in his demeanor.  Paco is potty trained, crate trained and sleeps in his crate through the night, polite on a leash (he loves walks and is very gentle, always at your side), and gets along great with both big and small dogs. He knows sit, lay, stay, and come as commands. He understands the need for personal space with little dogs and has been very receptive to his foster sibling's cues, and plays well with the lab in their home. Paco likes his rest, and spends much of his day curled up on the couch, or playing independently with toys. He loves toys, but doesn't destroy them - he just likes to carry them around and show them off!  Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Paco is a little bit shy upon first meeting, but settles in well and loves cuddles, treats, and affection from his people. He doesn't mind when his foster siblings steal his toys, and is respectful of their limits.  Story | Paco was saved from a high kill shelter where he was on the euthansia list due to limited space. Other Dogs | Friendly! Paco likes meeting other dogs and has done well with meet and greets in the neighborhood. He tends to be slightly scared at first - he is definitely a beta, and follows the assumed leader of the pack.  Cats | We think Paco would do well with cats due to his calm demeanor and passive behavior.  Children | Paco is skittish at first, but with a proper introduction would love a home with kiddos. He gets a little nervous by fast movements, but as he adjusts does well and seeks out affection. Paco is a pup that will take some time to settle, but truly will be the perfect family dog.  Training | Learns quickly. In a few days has learned come, sit, stay & down..  Leash | Walks well. Is observant of activities  Activity Level | Low to moderate - Paco will go for a walk each day, but doesn't need extensive exercise. He is pretty mellow.  Health Notes | Paco is heartworm positive. MHLRM will cover the expense of treatment with one of our approved veterinarians. Heartworm positive dogs go on to live happy, normal lives after treatment and rarely experience long-term side effects. Don't let this stop you from adopting Paco! Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality |  Spice is a sweetheart who enjoys playtime with the resident dog followed by couch cuddles with humans. Story | Spice was found with his brother, Pumpkin, hiding in the woods after a good Samaritan stopped to scan their deceased friend. She heard them barking and put together a plan to capture them so they could be fostered in Texas before coming to Colorado. Other Dogs | Spice warmed up to the resident dog once he realized the bouncy boy was just a big baby. They love to chase each other around and play. Spice would love to have a dog sibling to help show him the ropes and learn the good life of being a dog. Cats | He meet the neighbor's kitten and didn't care that there was a cat around. Children |  Training | Spice has learned sit by watching his foster brother. We are working on lay down. He sleeps in the crate at night with just a little whining in the beginning but sleeps through the night. He does find comfort in the crate and will sometimes just go in to chew a bone. He also runs into his create when he knows it is breakfast/dinner time. Spice is very food motivated which will making training easy with the smart boy! Leash | Spice doesn't pull on walks. He is very interesting in smelling his surroundings which causes him to zig zag some of walks so you have to make sure he doesn't try to zag under your feet! General Notes | This very sweet former breeder mom is looking for her happily ever after! Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.     Health Notes |  Other Dogs |  Lucy loves running around the backyard! She took a day or two to start playing but she is now best friends with her 7 month old and 1 year old foster sisters!  Cats | Lucy leaves our chickens alone and hasn't chased the neighbors cats. So I would think she would be fine.   Children |  She has been great with her 7 year old foster human! He is almost her safe space and she gives him lots of kisses!  Training | Lucy is going to need some patience. She is still learning how to be a dog and a pet. She has conquered the doggie door and will come inside on her own - this was a big step! She has been put in the kennel as well and did great!  Leash | We aren't sure Lucy has ever been on a leash so we are working to gain trust and then will venture in this direction.  Activity Level | Lucy has lab energy and loves to be outside running around but she will also take a good nap! She is very excitable! She sleeps through the night usually on the dog bed.  Personality | Lucy gets very excited to have her humans come outside with her. She has the cutest butt wiggles and throws herself in the air :)! She has decided inside the house is fun too and loves to give you kisses! She is a vocal girl too! Don't mind her "bloody" paw...she found a red permanent marker :-D  Story | Lucy was surrendered with 6 other breeder dogs from Missouri. General Notes | Hi I'm Apple! My name has played a significant role in a symbolic way in many fairytales and myths. Apple is known as the fruit of love, and I have so much love to give! Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | My name is a symbol of love and I will show you lots of love with gentle licks while I curl up in your lap!  Story | Thankfully, I was saved by this wonderful rescue along with my 5 sisters and my mom, from a shelter in Texas.  Other Dogs | I love playing with other dogs! Any size will do, I've even been allowed to play with the big dog in the house all by myself. I'm very curious and even a bit cautious, better safe than sorry.  Cats I met a cat today! I sniffed her, she sniffed me, and then I went back to playing with the dogs, not as exciting as I thought it would be!  Children | I will love children! Small humans that love to pet and hold me and chase me around, what could be better!  Training | I will definitely need some training, but with my love for food, I'll be a quick learner. I take treats so politely, I promise I won't even nip your fingers! I'm such a quick learner that I already figured out how to use a doggy door! I even got my nails trimmed today and didn't mind one bit.  Leash |  Activity Level | I love to play just as much as I love to sleep!  Health Notes | I am up to date on vaccines and heartworm prevention!  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | Looking for a mini Labrador?  Then you'll want to read more about Lisa Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Lisa is a petite Lab mix with a lot of love and cuddles to share. We have no idea what her other breeds could be, but she is on the smaller side, like a whippet or a pointer. She's definitely had a troubled past so she is still very shy meeting new people. It took her about 6 weeks to really open up to her foster family. We believe she just missed out on that much needed positive human contact when she was little, so trust is still an issue. She is learning quickly now that she feels safe with us. Loud noises do still startle her, but she is making progress every day. When she gets scared, she typically hides. She hid behind our couch a lot for the first couple of weels. She gets so excited to see us when we come home now! She loves to sleep in her human's bed if she's allowed. She likes to sleep up at the top near the pillows where she feels safe. She usually makes her way down to the foot of the bed or to a dog bed on the floor throughout the night. Her favorite activity in the world is playing with a toy. She loves to throw them around for herself and run and catch them. She loves all kinds, from stuffed, squeekers, and bones. She can usually entertain herself for quite some time when she's hyper and wants to play. She does not need to be crated during the day as long as she has plenty of toys and a friend to keep her busy. Since we live with a large pack, she is used to being occupied. If she does not have any animal siblings, crating for a short time would be recommended while she gets used to a new place. Story | Lisa was roaming the streets of Houston, TX before animal control picked her up. No one came to the shelter for her and she was at risk of euthanasia due to lack of space. We're excited to give her a second chance at life! Other Dogs | She is great with other dogs! No issues with the dogs in her foster home and she loves going to doggy daycare. While having another dog in her life would be ideal to help her progress and learn, we believe she would adjust without another dog. She will just need some light exercise, toys, and lots of love and positive reinforcement. Cats | Unknown Children | Friendly! They can be a little loud sometimes but overall Lisa is a gentle girl and likes people of all ages. Her current foster home does not have any children to expose her to, but she has never displayed any form of aggression towards any human or dog she has met. Training | Lisa is a blank slate! She's working on the basics and will do great with an adopter interested in continuing her training. She's a smart girl! Positive reinforcement will be key in her training as she learns to trust you. She LOVES peanut butter and is very treat motifivated. She does have access to a doggy door and has only had a few accidents. Without a doggy door, potty training may be needed. Leash | She is getting better on leash. She wasn't too sure about it at first but now she's realizing the leash means fun so it's not so bad! Activity Level | Medium. Lisa loves to play but once she gets her energy out she's a chill pup ready for snuggle on the couch. We don't believe she needs a very active family, just someone dedicated to giving her love and guidance, and to provide her all the toys! Health Notes | No health concerns. Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age.
