General Notes | Peggy is a sweet and spunky black lab puppy with a heart full of resilience. This little explorer started her journey on the bustling streets of Houston, but her story has taken a wonderful turn! Now, Peggy is trading the Texas heat for the Rocky Mountain air of Colorado, ready to embark on a life filled with love, adventure, and maybe even some snowy zoomies. With her glossy black coat and bright, curious eyes, Peggy is sure to steal your heart. She's looking forward to learning all about her new home and showering her forever family with endless puppy kisses and tail wags. Get ready for a lifetime of fun with this special girl! Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Prepare for a double dose of adorable with Peggy (aka Eggy)! Sweetness and silliness are her default settings, making her your quintessential puppy dream. This little lovebug wants to be wherever you are, but also possesses a delightful independent streak, often embarking on solo adventures with her favorite chew toy in tow. You'll likely find her happily gnawing away in her bed, always keeping you within her line of sight for eventual snuggles. And the best part? Peggy's a total people-watcher (especially the screen kind!) and a surprisingly articulate beggar. Just try holding something tempting – she'll sit with the most earnest 'please can I have that?' look you've ever seen!" Story | Peggy was pulled from a shelter in Houston, TX with her sister Polly, and is making her way to Colorado! They are loveing Colorado life, and being in a home.  Other Dogs | Peggy is great with other dogs! She has been with her sister and another dog in foster home and continues to enjoy learning to play and grow in her relationships with puppy pals! She loves to play and knows when to back off if she is getting to rough.  Cats | Peggy's foster has a cat and Peggy wags her tail and wants to play.  Children | Peggy is learning boundaries and learning about safety and comfort in a home, but would do well with little kiddos to love and dote on! Training | Training in progress, folks, and this smart cookie is already showing off! When the magic words "Go to your bed!" are uttered (especially if food is involved!), Peggy transforms into a furry rocket, zooming straight to her crate and striking a perfect 'sit' pose with the hopeful eyes of a seasoned pro. Treats? Forget about it – she's got the 'sit' command down pat! We're currently tackling the 'lay' maneuver, and let's just say she's not exactly a couch potato... but she's definitely getting the hang of it! This clever girl has also aced Doggy Door 101, confidently heading outside for potty breaks, though her bladder stamina is still a work in progress (think 'frequent flyer' program). But hey, she's CRUSHING it! And the best part? Crate trained? You bet your bottom dollar! Leash | Progressing well, daily walks and she is really good on walks. She likes to find ground scores. Activity Level | Moderate. Peggy is a puppy and is learning, playing, and growing through life! Plays hard, sleeps harder. Health Notes | Happy and healthy, putting on more wieght daily and growing Thank you! |  Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | Duke is an extremely sweet, handsome four-year old purebred brown lab. Duke would make a great family dog with a calm and gentle disposition.  After likely spending most of his life as a breeding dog, Duke is curiously acclimating to his new life in CO.  Everything seems like a new world to Duke so far, but he's handling things really well.  You can bring Duke anywhere and he's very well behaved.  He does great in public places and around strangers.  So far he's been to the dog park, coffee shop, and a brewery. Whomever gets to adopt Duke will be very lucky! Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Duke is very playful and loves his toys.  He's a quiet, sweet gentleman who would fit into any type of family. He's a big, beautiful teddy bear in lab form. Story | Duke was rescued with eight other labs from a backyard breeder in Missouri.  Duke made the journey to Colorado to begin a new, better life. Other Dogs | Duke gets along well with other dogs, but currently being fostered in a home without any dogs. Duke did great at the dog park around all types of other dogs. Cats | Duke hasn't been cat tested. All of the dogs (3 of the 9) pulled from the same breeder that have been cat tested ignore the resident cats so Duke would likely do well with a cat.  Children | No exposure to children yet, but Duke is so gentle and calm. Training | Duke is a blank slate who does not appear to have any training.  Duke doesn't have any bad behaviors and will need some basic training to learn commands.  Duke is quiet and hasn't barked once.  Working on crate training as he's reluctant to get in, but does great once he's inside.  Duke is house trained and hasn't had any issues inside.  Leash | Duke is starting to get used to being on the leash and doing really well! He enjoys a leisurely pace and doesn't pull unless he sees a neighborhood squirrel.   Activity Level | Normal level of activity Health Notes | Duke has a minor ear infection, which is being treated. Duke is heartworm positive, but treatment is very successful and completely manageable with all the proper education. MHLRM will cover the expense of treatment at one of our approved veterinarians. Heartworm positive dogs go on to live happy, normal lives after treatment and rarely experience long-term side effects. Don't let this stop you from adopting Duke! Thank you! |  Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | They call him Lucky, and after meeting this sweet black Lab puppy, you'll understand why. Perhaps it's because he's overcome a rough start, or maybe he was just born with an extra measure of charm. He's a reminder that sometimes, the best things in life are truly a stroke of luck. Want to adopt this dog? This sweet baby is so adventurous, sweet, and fun to be around. Story | Lucky and his six siblings and mama were found outside of Conroe, Texas in a relatively ferral state - with mama being nearly untouchable, and the babies being new to the earth! They spent the first six weeks of their life in a crowded shelter before Mile High Lab Mission pulled the family, and now all are learning and adjusting to living and being in a home! It's been a scary and long road for this crew, but they are learning fast, being adaptable, and getting all the love! Other Dogs | Lucky does well with other dogs. He is still a puppy and is learning boundaries and to follow cues, but he plays well with his siblings, and would be happy to have another dog pal in his future home!  Cats | Lucky hasn't met a kitty yet, but due to his young age and sweet demeanor, the rescue thinks he could do well with cats with a proper introduction. Children | Lucky is learning about love from children! He would be happy to have kiddos to play with and dote on, as long as they are respectful and kind.  Training | Lucky's training is in progress! He is still a puppy, so he is working on potty training, crate training, and basic commands. As he has come out of the shelter, the primary goal has been supporting with decompression and ensuring he knows he is safe and loved. Training will come with time! Leash | Lucky isn't walking on a leash quite yet, but hopefully soon! Activity Level | Moderate - your basic lab puppy! Health Notes | He's been in a loving foster home for a few weeks now and is looking so much healthier and full of life! General Notes | Mads, Masidon, Maddie Girl , Momma , whatever you call her, her tail is wagging! Searching for a pure bred chocolate dream in dog form right here in Colorado? Meet Madison Creek! This lovely girl is overflowing with affection and eagerly awaits the chance to bring her sweet presence and wagging tail into your loving home. Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Madison is the sweetest girl. Genuinely just happy to be near you and always wagging her tail. She'll melt your heart.  Story | Madison is a breeder surrender and has spent the first few years of her life living with 100 other labs on a property in Missouri. She's rasied several litters of her own and now she's ready to be the baby to her own devoted humans to share calm companionship and loving affection with.  Other Dogs | Maddie is being fostered with another dog and she has warmed up quickly!  Cats | Madison hasn't been cat tested. All of the dogs (3 of the 9) pulled from the same breeder that have been cat tested ignore the resident cats so Madison would likely do well with a cat too.  Children | She isn't being fostered with children. She is extra sweet and doesn't jump so she may be able to live wonderfully with children. All of the breeder dogs being fostered with kids do amazing so we think all of them would likely be great with kids! They are so happy to have any affection from any human of any age! These dogs don't jump, aren't phased by quick movements from kiddos, and love all the pets they could get from anyone. They have nothing but love to give!  Training | This sweet girl is fully potty trained!  Leash | Madison is good in a leash! She LOVES walks. She pulls gently but will correct. Activity Level | Low. She doesn't jump and is always wagging her tail! She prefers naps over play most of the time!  Health Notes | Madison is heartworm positive, but treatment is very successful and completely manageable with all the proper education. MHLRM will cover the expense of treatment at one of our approved veterinarians. Heartworm positive dogs go on to live happy, normal lives after treatment and rarely experience long-term side effects. Don't let this stop you from adopting Madison! Thank you! |  Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $525. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $700 per dog). Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only.  To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page! We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved.  Your application is good for one year from date of applying for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle. show less

General Notes | Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.  Personality | Butterbeer (Butter for short) is a sweet, goofy puppy. She's affectionate and loves to cuddle, especially napping curled on your lap or on your chest. Butter is such a sweet girl, and loves to give kisses. She carries around her toys everywhere she goes, and loves to play either alone, with her people or other pups.  Story |  Other Dogs | Butter is currently fostered with 2 Great Pyrenees (120 lb each) and she does great with both of them. She likes to follow them around, but does not bother them to play, and takes their cues when they need space (which is so impressive for a puppy!). Cats |  Children |  Training | She's doing great with house training so far, and is learning very quickly. Butter's super smart, and has already learned 'sit', and is working on stay. Butter also sleeps through the night in her crate. Leash | Butter is just a baby and is still learning what a leash is. She doesn't mind her collar, and has done a great job of staying close in the backyard. She also loves taking neighborhood walks in her sling carrier and is the most affectionate girl ever. Activity Level | Typical puppy, Butter has spurts of playing with her toys, and then curls up for a nap. Her energy is definitely medium, and she rests easily throughout the day. Health Notes |  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | Just as the story of Sampson took many turns, so has the life of this beautiful cream Labrador Retriever. After his time as a breeder, Sampson is now ready for a new chapter defined by peace, comfort, and the loving embrace of his forever family. His strength now lies in his gentle spirit and his capacity to give and receive love. Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | In just a little over a week, Sampson has gone from a fearful rescue to a big goofball.  He went from cowering in the corner and refusing to walk without another dog to happily playing with a ball in the yard and even rolling over for belly rubs. Like most labs, he is very food motivated and loves to carry things in his mouth (don't worry he drops it if you ask). He loves the hose but hates his reflection. He sleeps in the crate at night without barking, but he does like it to be mostly covered with a blanket.  While he is really coming out of his shell, Sampson would benefit from a patient family who will help him feel loved and safe.  Story | Sampson came from a backyard breeder with 8 other dogs that MHLM pulled. He spent his days as a stud and has fathered multiple litters with minimal love from the humans on the farm. He is so happy to be retired now and ready for a family of his own to love! Other Dogs | It took some time for Sampson to appreciate his foster sister, but now they will play and even cuddle. In the beginning, he would also follow her lead when he was feeling scared. He could need some time to fully warm up to another dog, but a confident and calm dog may be beneficial to continue to show him the ropes. We recommend a proper introduction with your dog. Cats | Sampson hasn't been cat tested. All of the dogs (3 of the 9) pulled from the same breeder that have been cat tested ignore the resident cats so Sampson would likely do well with a cat.  Children | Sampson has meet a few children out and about. He was very gentle and didn't jump. All of the breeder dogs being fostered with kids do amazing so we think all of them would likely be great with kids. They are so happy to have any affection from any human of any age! These dogs don't jump, have been lower energy, aren't phased by quick movements from kiddos, and loved all the pets they could get from anyone. They have nothing but love to give!  Training | To Sampson the world is new, and he is still just learning how to be a dog. He is a clean slate but very food motivated. He is starting to work on sit and other basic commands.    Sampson is still working on housetraining as he likes to mark, but his foster parents think he will stop completely once he is neutered. Leash | Sampson was initially afraid of the leash and would only walk if another dog led the way. Now he gets excited when he sees the leash and is able to go for a walk as the only dog. He doesn't pull, but he may need a few treats along the way. Activity Level | Moderate. He will play with toys and likes walks, but in general, he is a big napper. He will be active when you are active and relax when you are relaxing. Health Notes | Sampson neuter is scheduled for next week and he is SO ready to be officially retured from stud duties. He is also heartworm NEGATIVE. Thank you! |  Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | Beau, whose fosters lovingly call him Toast, is the sweetest fluffy guy ready for his next lifetime adventure in Colorad... show more

General Notes | Beau, whose fosters lovingly call him Toast, is the sweetest fluffy guy ready for his next lifetime adventure in Colorado! Toast is sweet as they come - playful, observant, and happy to snuggle in for a cozy afternoon or get outside and explore with his foster family. Toast currently resides with a lab foster brother, and two little dog foster siblings (whom he adores and follows around endlessly). He's great with dogs of all sizes, and is learning to follow their cues. He has met the neighbor’s cat and was curious and excited by him, but kept his distance.  He does well following the lead of his foster family, and is mindful of routine.  He likes sleeping in his crate, white noise, and playing with the family dogs. Toast is as fluffy and goofy as they come, and loves to snuggle with both his foster parents and furry foster siblings. He adores kiddos, and would be happy to have a family that likes cuddles and games of chase too!  Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Toast is adventurous, curious, and sweet as they come. His foster family is still getting to know him, but thinks he has a pretty typical lab demeanor, and sees him getting up to typical puppy shenanigans! He likes to explore, get toys and chase them around the house, play tug, and is receptive to redirection from his foster parents.  Story | Toast and his six siblings were pulled from a high kill shelter in TX, and brought to Colorado in January! Toast is still very young, and is learning how to be a dog and exist in our silly Colorado weather. He’s not so sure about the cold, but is adapting and enjoying time in the Colorado sunshine!  Other Dogs | Toast does great with both big and small dogs, and is playful but respectful! When his Chihuahua foster siblings growl or set the tone that they don’t want to be messed with, he rolls over or walks away. He is great at reading the room, and knowing their boundaries. He likes to snuggle, follows his foster siblings around, and encourages them in play by dropping toys at their feet.  Cats | Toast has only met one cat and was curious. His fosters think he would do great with a kitty sibling.  Children | Toast loves little humans of all ages and sizes! He would be awesome with kiddos of all ages as long as they are gentle and kind. He will need continuous training as he grows.  Training | Toast’s training is in progress. He's working on potty training (we’re almost there!!), basic commands, and is also sleeping in a crate at night and throughout the day! He has already learned sit, is walking on a leash, and follows his foster sibling’s cues for additional rules around the house.  Leash | Toast is learning about leash walking with his fosters, and will work on it more as time progresses. He likes walks with his lab foster brother, but gets a little nervous walking independently.  Activity Level | Moderate - typical puppy energy but loves to play, sleep, and play some more!  Health Notes |  Thank you! |  Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. General Notes | Snuggly Nigel can't wait to be a Colorado adventure dog! This boy is a blast to be around, and loves being with people, with pups, and spending time outside. Everyone who meets him has great things to say about him! He prefers to spend his time snuggled up with you as much as you'll let him! Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Personality | Nigel is sweet, snuggly, easy going, and loves to be around people and other dogs. Nigel is sweet as they come, happy to hang with people and other pups, and can't wait for a life of adventure in Colorado! After being found as a stray in Texas, this sweet boy has hit the jackpot in making his way north to find his forver family! His fosters took him to the mountains and he loved the snow so he is so excited to be a Colorado dog! His foster says: "Nigel is a calm, playful, affectionate boy. He can be a little uncertain with humans at first, yet when HE comes to YOU, he approaches with a waggy tail and will put his front paws on you for pets. He shows no resource guarding/reactivity towards humans or other dogs. He seems a bit anxious around cats. He plays well with his rescue mate, an adult female, enjoys roughhouse play and chasing squirrels! He will need a securely fenced yard, as he is a bit of an escape artist and likes to army-crawl underneath gaps in his foster's fence, but comes back willingly." Story | Nigel was rescued in Kingwood, Texas and is currently residing in a foster home as he decompresses and learns all about how beautiful life can be! He has an old injury on his right front leg that is healing, and has a slight limp, but is adapting to the good life with ease!  Other Dogs | Nigel was found as a stray with his sister, and does well with other dogs.  Cats |  Nope.  Nigel needs a cat-free home! Children | Nigel has done amazing with the kids in his foster home aged 7-16! Training | Nigel is potty trained and has been free roamed during the day while his fosters are away with no incidents. His fosters describe him as a super easy dog! Leash | Nigel is working on walking on a leash. He is learning, but has typical lab joy and energy! Activity Level | Moderate. Nigel has been mellow and easy for his foster family!  Health Notes | Nigel was heartworm positive when he was first rescued.  He received a Proheart12 shot - no other treatment required, just a follow-up test in 10 months.   Heartworm positive dogs go on to live happy, normal lives after treatment and rarely experience long-term side effects. Don't let this stop you from adopting Nigel. Thank you! |  Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age.
