General Notes | Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Lover, snuggler, and all around playful pup. I'm a 16-months old, lab mix weighing in at 65 lbs! It's hard to say when I'll stop putting on the pounds since my time on the streets before arriving with my foster family left me ravenous. I am fully grown just filling out! Don't let my mix breed deter you as I haven't shown any type of aggression towards people or other animals, exept for when other pouches are encroaching on my food dish. I don't like to share and want to eat in peace. But, can you blame me?!  Be patient with me when first meeting as I take a few days (sometimes minutes) to warm up to new things. However, give me a little time and before you know it, I'll be down for all the new adventures you throw at me. So far I've loved learning about car rides, taking hikes, and meeting new puppy and human friends with my foster family. I've even picked up a few new tricks like sit and how to use the treat button finder. Not to mention I'm recently neutered, house trained, kennel trained, and am working to be better on the leash - I just get a little excited when I see other dogs and tend to pull so I can get a closer sniff.  When it comes to dog friends, I love to play, wrestle, and chase to my heart's content. But, don't get me wrong - I need my relaxation time, too. I'm happy to lounge, take naps, and would love to be a work-from-home companion. Oh, and did someone say kids? I adore them, big and small. Just keep an eye on the littles as I can lay the kisses on pretty thick. The only thing I'm a little unsure of are my feline friends. I haven't been around them much and still need some time to make up my mind up about them.  If there's one last thing I should mention, my foster mom keeps telling me - and others - that I'm the sweetest boy. Which I must admit, I like the sound of that since all I want to do is find my forever family. So, how does it sound - want a new loving and doting family member? I'm your guy.  You can read more about Kappi on our Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/p/Cd53R6RLi5A/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link Health Notes |  Other Dogs | Loves! Cats | Not sure about them but does not want to eat them. Children | Adores! Training | House Trained, Kennel Trained, Working on basic Commands Leash | Working on not pulling when seeing other friends. Activity Level | Loves to play but also loves to sleep! Enjoys a good ol Colorado hike! Personality | This is such a sweet boy who loves to hang out with you wherever you are. He is very smart and picks up things quickly. If you like to sleep in this is your guy!  Story Kappi was found as a stray in TX with severe mange. He has battled back and is very healthy and happy! Thank you! |  Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $475. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $500 per dog). Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only.  To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page! We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved.  Your application is good for 90 days from the time of approval for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle.  show less

General Notes This sweet girl has found her way from Texas to Colorado to find her fur-ever home!  Now that she’s feeling loved and safe, she is really coming out of her shell.  Kami is full of sugar and a tad of spice!  She LOVES playing with her foster doggie brother.  She’s most happy when she’s near her humans. Kami plays and plays, but is also happy to snuggle up on the couch for some cuddles.  She is very smart, learning new commands and catching on quickly.  She is also very alert, always aware of what is going on around you.  This girl is a keeper and will make someone very happy!  Please adopt her!   | Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Health Notes | This girl is healthy but she is heartworm positive. She has started her treatment, which Mile High pays for.  Other Dogs | Kami would do super well in a home with other dogs. She'd also be an amazing hiking/mountain dog, she LOVES to explore and run. General Notes | Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Health Notes |  Other Dogs | Jim settled right in with our two dogs. We've had a couple of visitors with dogs, and he has also gotten along well with those dogs. Cats | Unknown. Children | A 10 year old girl visited, and Jim interacted happily with her. He let her pick him up and hold him. He has not been introduced to younger children. Training | We feel Jim is very trainable. He sits well for treats. He is listening to us more, and comes when called. Leash training is going well. His longest leash walk has been 3 miles. He has yipped at several dogs but quits when I talk to him. He has walked past dozens of dogs being walked and has behaved very well on leash, almost never reacting except for the several occasions listed above. He is really potty trained. There were several pee accidents after he had been here several days but this has not happened lately. He is crate trained. Leash | Yes. He is being leash trained. Activity Level | Medium. He loves to run around in the backyard with our 11 month old puppy, but he also relaxes in the house. He is learning to play with a ball and entertain himself. Personality | Jim is pretty laid back. He does like to play and be around people and dogs. Our 11 month old puppy loves playing with him. He cuddles on our laps as he has gotten more comfortable. He sleeps through the night in the crate or in our bed. General Notes | Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Health Notes | Appears very healthy Other Dogs | Good with other dogs...loves to play, even with big dogs Cats | Unknown Children | Good with children.  Although I do not have children at home, Ilsa was very good with my grandchildren Training | Learning sit and wait.  Ilsa potty trained herself.  If I leave the patio door slightly open, she goes potty outside every time.  She is starting to learn the dog door. Leash | Working on leash.   Activity Level | Moderate.  She loves to run outside but settles down when she comes in Personality |UPDATE:  after a week, Ilsa greets everyone at the door and wants to meet everyone.  She is just a little wiggle butt now.   Ilsa is very shy and sweet.  She just arrived from Texas and is still learning the ropes.  In the past few days she is really warming up and letting her puppy show.  I am working with her on being more outgoing with people.  I believe she will definitely come out of her shell more when she's had a chance to settle in.   Story | She and her brothers were found in south Texas by the Mexico border.  They were taken in by a different foster and kept outside in kennels until Mile High took them over and brought them to Colorado. Thank you! | Thank you for checking out Ilsa.  She is going to become a wonderful dog.....she's sweet and easygoing, potty trained, and sleeos all night in her kennel.  Great in kennel when I have to leave during the day. Henry is a very sweet, enthusiastic 1-year old who loves people and other dogs. He is a typical happy-go-lucky lab who can easily be trained with treats, but like any dog will need some initial work to achieve his full potential. In exchange, you will be rewarded with a very sweet companion, lots of cuddles and kisses, and a goofy personality to brighten up your days. Health Notes | Healthy! Other Dogs | As a young dog, he is very playful. Can play rough but responds well to other dogs cues. May need redirection. Behaves very well at the dog park: not assertive or rough, just curious, tentative, and eager to meet everyone. Cats | Will chase Children | Has a soft mouth but is excited and can knock down little ones. Training | Has not received much training in the past, but he is very food motivated and eager to learn. Knows sit and crate. He is ready to build a relationship with you through exercise and training! Leash | Walks with a harness. Will try to zig zag if given too much leash, but responds well to a shorter leash and will stay by your side. His default mode is to walk slowly and stop to smell and watch everything. He does get distracted by new things while on walks (including other people and dogs), and can growl and pull in some situations. However, he is not always reactive and does do well with other dogs and people when off leash (e.g he is gentle and well behaved at the dog park), so his foster parents think the initial reactiveness can be trained with some exposure to new things and consistent redirection. Activity Level | Initially would have described him as high energy, but the more time we spend with him the more we think he's on his way to be a very sweet, chill dog. Does love to play and is curious about everything like any 1 year old boy, so may get himself into trouble if left unattended, but is equally cuddly, lazy, and easily redirected. Personality | Sweet, goofy, curious, enthusiastic. Story | Henry was listed on craigslist because he kept knocking down the newly walking baby. Owner agreed to have mile high find him a home. Thank you! |  General Notes | Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.     Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age.
