General Notes | Looking for fancy and boujee? A girl's girl? The utlimate adventure and snuggle bug? If so, Lyra is your gal! Sweet Lyra is adorable, spunky, crate trained, and as cute as they come. She currently resides in foster with her big lab foster brother, her brother from her litter, and two little dog foster siblings. She's great with dogs of all sizes, and is learning to follow their lead and their cues. She is very respectful of little dog boundaries, and is watchful and attentive in honoring their space. Lyra has also met the neighbor’s cat and was curious and excited by him, but kept her distance, respecting kitty cues, too! Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP. Personality | Lyra is a spunky, sweet, and adventurous little girl. She enjoys playing and running around as much as she loves napping, and her ideal day is spent sleeping in her foster dad's lap with he gives her pets between meetings. She is curious, excited to explore, and is *getting used to* the Colorado cold. Story | Lyra and her seven siblings were rescued off the euthanasia list in Houstin, TX, as a large two week old litter. She was placed with a foster in TX for three weeks before making her way to Colorado! While she isn't sure what to think about the snow, she's adapting quickly, and is so excited to continue to grow and learn. Other Dogs | Lyra does great with both big and small dogs, and is playful but respectful! She LOVES her big lab brother, and will play with him, lay on him, and entice him in play all day long. When her Chihuahua foster siblings growl or set the tone that they don’t want to be messed with, she walks away. Lrya is great at reading the room, and learning boundaries/rules set by other dogs. She likes to snuggle, follows her foster siblings around, and encourages them in play by dropping toys at their feet (or squeaking them, until someone comes over to steal it!) Cats | Lyra has only met one cat and was curious. Her fosters think she would do great with a kitty sibling. Children | Lyra loves, loves, LOVES kiddos! She loves little humans of all ages and sizes! Her fosters think she would be awesome with kiddos of all ages as long as they are gentle and kind. She will need continuous training as she grows. Training | Lyra's training is in progress. She's working on potty training (we’re almost there, and we haven't pooped in the house!!), she is learning basic commands, and is also sleeping in a crate at night and throughout the day! Leash | Lyra isn't so sure about the leash yet, but will learn with time! Activity Level | Moderate - typical puppy energy but loves to play, sleep, and play some more! Health Notes | Thank you! | Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $525. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $700 per dog). Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page! We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved. Your application is good for 90 days from the time of approval for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle.
