Anders is a sweet boy who tells you when he’s excited by wiggling every part of his body! When his excitement completely overwhelms him, which happens often when it is food or outside time, he launches himself straight into the air with all four paws off the ground. His joy for life is infectious! He can be a bit timid at first, but he loves people. 🖤 His activity level is that of a typical 1 year old - alternates between playing with toys, watching out the window and napping. 🐾 Anders loves to play with the resident dog in his foster home. They play until they collapse into a nap! He does well when seeing other dogs on walks, but he has started to make it clear that he is not very interested in making new dog friends. When meeting new dogs up close, he is very selective about who he wants to know better. In most cases, another dog will sniff him, and he will make it clear to them that he is not interested. However, he does not lunge at other dogs or react negatively towards them unless they invade his space for too long. As a result, he may be better suited to a home without another dog unless time and effort is put in to gradually introduce them over several days. 🤓 He has mastered sit, stay, shake, and lay down. Anders knows to stay off the furniture, unless he’s been invited, and does well when told to get down. 🍔 This boy is food motivated which will help with his continued training. 🏠 Anders sleeps through the night on a dog bed in his foster’s bedroom and is left to freely roam the house much of the time, even when his fosters leave. He also does well in a crate and spent a fair amount of time in one while learning to be trusted around the house and during the night. He's a very quiet boy, and his foster needs to be mindful of him trying to get attention to go outside. When taken out regularly (roughly 3-4x per day), there are no accidents in the house. 🐾 If you are already an approved adopter and want to meet or adopt Anders, please contact your adoption coordinator. Or you can fill out an application at mhlrm.com General Notes | Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP. Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $475. Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page! We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved. Your application is good for 90 days from the time of approval for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle.
