This is Rosalind, as in Franklin, one of the scientist puppies! Rosalind is a 10 week old sassy girl that does not put up with her brothers antics. She is quirky and cute, and her coloring shows the true beauty of her DNA. She is calm yet strong and loves to lounge in a lap or with a soft cuddly friend/stuffy. Rosalind has beautiful eyes that embody the definition of "puppy dog eyes" and could melt any heart. Her foster mom can't resist scooping her up for an extra snuggle each time she sees them! It seems as if she will be taller than her siblings as her legs are the longest of the bunch. She is in a foster home with dogs of all sizes and children and is very well socialized. Rosalind is ready to find her forever home! Adoption fees: Puppies: 0-1yr $450.00 Each of our dogs are fully vaccinated to include Bordetella, DHPP, DHLPP and Rabies. We deworm each dog and chip. Lastly, we spay or neuter each of our dogs. The spay or neuter of these puppies will happen at 4-5 months of age. Our adoption process includes an initial conversation about the dog to see if the dog is a good match or if another dog could be a more suitable match. We also will complete a home visit. It should be noted that our adoption counselors know the dogs and can best guide any possible adopter with a suitable match. Noses to the ground in a new place, that’s why they were named after detectives. Sweet and nice, loving all the cuddles, some cuddle longer than others but all want to make sure their people are around for all the love. They all play well with the big foster sisters, sometimes forgetting big fluffy tails are not chew toys. They each have an independent streak and sniff out their own fun in the backyard. However at nap time it is dog pile time in one bed (different body parts hang over.) They all already like being in the paddle pool or playing in the water bowl. Their favorite passtime is playing with sticks and frequently carry them around together. Benson is more go with the flow and waits for his turn for attention and turn to go in the stroller for a trip outside. His head wrinkles are the cutest and makes him look serious but he is just as goofy as the rest. Meet Kylo! Kylo is a two year old Shepherd mix. He is around 95 lbs of furry love and is very sweet and gentle. He gets along with with other dogs with a proper introduction, but would also be okay as an only dog. Kylo is very food and treat motivated. He is the gentlest boy when he takes treats from his foster family and loves playing with children. He loves to run and play and to snuggle up on the couch with his foster mom and dad. Kylo would do well in an active home and a handler that is familiar with working breed dogs. He isn’t food or toy possessive, but he does like to try to steal his foster dog siblings’ food if no one is watching! Kylo responds very well to correction from his humans. He knows ‘come’ ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘leave it’, and ‘shake’. Kylo is working on crate training in his foster home, is super eager to please, and adores attention and belly rubs. He is potty trained and walks well on a leash with a prong collar, but like most working breed dogs, Kylo would benefit from consistency and continued training. No small animals (cats, small dogs, etc.) for this boy as he has a very strong prey drive. Kylo’s foster mom says he is the absolute sweetest boy and thinks he will make an amazing companion for his Fur-ever family! Meet Noodle AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION Name: Willow Grace (formerly Noodle) Breed: long haired GSD Sex: female Weight: 68 lbs. Description: I’m hoping that 7 is really my lucky number and I can find a forever home with you! Although I’m 7, I’ve got a LOT of life to live and just as much love to give. I love going on walks with my foster humans and do the cutest circle dance when my foster humans grab my leash. Once we’re out of the door, I’m just happy being out, smelling the grass, and feeling the breeze against my luscious locks! I’ve seen lots of cats and squirrels on my daily walks and am not reactive - just a bit curious. I also pass by lots of dogs and other dog owners are impressed by how cool, calm, and collected I am. I do have serious FOMO (fear of missing out) and I am a fence jumper if left alone in the backyard unattended. I’m just looking for my pack! I do fine when left at home during my foster humans’ work days. I know how to open all of their lever-handle doors and make myself quite comfortable on their bed or the couch when they’re gone (my long hair left behind is the giveaway - oh, and also the pillows that are thrown on the floor). I agree with my foster dad on this one - who needs decor pillows anyway?) I do enjoy car rides, especially with the windows down, and make an excellent shopping companion. Honestly, I just prefer being wherever you are! Because of my long hair, I need to be brushed daily and groomed occasionally. My foster mom joked and said I looked like a stegosaurus when I was first picked up because I had some pretty gnarly mats back there. I thoroughly enjoyed being brushed, especially on my chest. My foster humans pull off a baby shepherd each time they brush me, so having a vacuum (I’m not reactive to this either) close by is necessary! I am crate trained too. I prefer it when my foster humans give me an evening walk and then “wind down” with me in the living room while I am in my crate. I do settle down quickly and only whimper a little bit until I know all of the lights are out and they’re asleep too. My story: I’ve been in and out of the Contra Costa shelter 8+ times because I’m an escape artist. I was most recently pulled from the Contra Costa shelter after my previous owners surrendered me. Adoption fees: Puppies: 0-1yr $450.00 Adult dogs: 1-6 years $400.00 Seniors 6+ $350.00 Each of our dogs are fully vaccinated to include Bordetella, DHPP, DHLPP and Rabies. He deserves to be loved and settled in a forever home. We believe Tank is about 2.5 to 3 years old, he does take meds to help with his hips. He is not impaired, but it is noticeable when he walks or runs. Meet Garth Do you remember the story of “Lady & the Tramp”? Garth’s story is a real life version of this Disney classic! We first found out about Garth after we were told about a female dog (Sadie) and her puppies abandoned at a warehouse in Modesto. This has become a familiar story lately. Vickie, who is one of our volunteers attempted on many occasions to try to trap mama and the babies. The babies were quite old and were not very friendly. The puppies were caught by other people or simply disappeared, but we did catch mama Sadie. We also attempted to catch the male dog, who we assumed was dad because he was always nearby. He was friendly, he would come near, but never allow us to capture him. So long after we got Sadie we were still trying to capture Garth. He was very good at avoiding capture. We even set up a trap and were unsuccessful when the trap failed us. Eventually Garth wandered into a back yard and was caught and brought to the Stanislaus animal shelter, where he was neutered. Vickie has been part of Garth’s story since the beginning and advocated for him by bringing him home to foster. He loves Vickie and her family. Garth is a funny quirky boy, he is playful, sweet, fun loving and affectionate. He is loyal and he has a great bark to let you know something is not quite right. He is really a great dog and he seems to know and appreciate what it is like to be loved. He is ready for his forever home. Now he knows what it is like to be with family he just wants to be loved and be a part of it. It is so hard to believe that anyone would just leave an innocent, loving being in the open to die! But Garth is looking for his people, a place where he can roll around on his back, (a favorite thing to do is sleep on his back) get lots of pets and give lots of kisses. He is about 80lbs, two years old , good with most dogs and we think he is a Mal/shepherd mix. He is a truly beautiful boy! Phoenix is an approximately 3 yrs old mix German Shepherd, that was on the streets in the Central Valley when she was hit by a car in December. Unfortunately the break in her front right leg wasn’t healing properly and her leg was amputated in early April. Phoenix is a very special girl who is recovering fantastically on her three legs. She is very playful with all size dogs and people. She is very gentle with children, but loves to play with them when allowed. I haven’t seen her turn away from anyone. She enjoys sunbathing in the grass and snuggling up to those who will rub her and give her love. She also looks forward to take her morning sniff walk around the nearby park and her evening outings to play with other dogs. Phoenix doesn’t have a mean streak in her or harbor any resentment of being put out on the streets. Phoenix is looking for her forever home with those who will love her unconditionally and she will do the same…. Meet Tabitha Tabitha is an approximately 1-2 year old female Anatolian Shepherd Dog. She is spayed and has all her shots. She is also housebroken. She was a terrified girl at the Stanislaus shelter who had recently had puppies. Because she was so shut down, her time was up! She’s has been in foster care learning how to just be a dog. Her first walk was baby steps. Each step for her was a step of faith. She was terrified of people and still doesn’t want much human interaction but she is learning to trust. Tabitha started coming out of her shell playing with our male Anatolian. He got her to wag her tail for the first time. We then fostered some 6 month old German Shepherd puppies and she took to babysitting them. They all ran and played in the pasture together until the puppies were adopted. Tabitha was sweet with her corrections and the puppies all deferred to her. She has since been living with a young German Shepherd boy named Vinny. Vinny has gotten Tabitha to wrestle and dog play go into the kiddie pool, play with toys and bark at “dangers”. Tabitha leashes up nicely for walks but is shy to be leashed up. Tabitha would do well in a home with a large yard and other friendly dogs. She’s still shy of people and will need a family who will take their time building trust with her. She is a gentle soul with a brave heart. Once she is settled in, her true Anatolian spirit comes out as a love and protector. Let us know if you want more information or a meet & greet. Meet Gigi! We believe Gigi is a Bucovina Shepherd. She is approximately 3 months and already close to 50 lbs. Her full-grown weight could range from 110 – 180lbs. She is a very large breed. That being said she is also the sweetest most gentle giant. She absolutely adores children! She loves other animals, dogs, cats, and livestock. Since she loves the company of other animals she does need another resident dog in the home. She doesn’t much care for the crate and much rather sleep on a dog bed. She still is working on potty training but is very close to mastering it. She loves to be around people and being part of a family! She is still learning basic commands and is a super happy learner. Please research the breed as she will be a very large breed. Remi is a ten week old Shepherd and Husky mis, otherwise known as a shephsky. Remi was found along with her siblings in an open field in San Joaquin County. It appears the four puppies were left to fend for themselves. Remi is still shy, but sweet. We are hoping for Remi to be in a home with another dog as our rescue believes in socializing all of our the dogs in the program. Remi is learning to be house trained, crate trained and she has received the first series of her vaccinations, she is chipped as well as receiving a dewormer. Remi is currently in the home with two older dogs and she is learning about meeting other dogs.
