Say hello to Briar! Briar is an approximately 1 year old Belgian Malinois. She originally came to us from Stanislaus Animal Services from their euthanasia list due to being scared and shut down in the shelter environment. She is very active and very petite at around 45 lbs, which makes her a great travel companion! Briar loves to play fetch and has potential for sports work. She is fairly high drive and will need further training and lots of mental stimulation to keep her from becoming bored. Briar is crate trained and house broken, and would do best in a home with no children. She does great with other dogs and needs adopters that are experienced in the breed. This sweet petite girl enjoys to be with her people as much as possible and rides well in the car and walks well on leash. She would love long walks on the beach and snuggles with her forever family. Adoption fees: Adult: 1-6yr $400.00 Each of our dogs are fully vaccinated to include Bordetella, DHPP, DHLPP and Rabies. We deworm each dog and chip. Lastly, we spay or neuter each of our dogs. Our adoption process includes an initial conversation about the dog to see if the dog is a good match or if another dog could be a more suitable match. We also will complete a home visit. It should be noted that our adoption counselors know the dogs and can best guide any possible adopter with a suitable match. Please visit https://www.calpaws.org/available-dogs for the adoption application! We are always in need of experienced fosters for the amount of dogs we have coming in. Conrad, formerly known as Canelo is between 4-5 years of age. His story is the life of many, family has him for three years and then decides the landlord says no pets. He was left at the San Francisco Animal Shelter.  It is apparent Conrad has suffered from abuse, his back, right hip have some trauma. We have paid several visits to the vet and have a plan long term for Conrad.  Conrad is a comical boy, loving sweet, great with people and other dogs. He can be the annoying younger brother and he is wicked smart.  Conrad can open doors, so making sure extra measures are made to make sure he does not open the front door for himself and all his buddies is key.  Conrad loves his walks, nothing slows him down. He is crate trained, although he is not a fan. He is neutered, vaccinated and chipped. He just needs a family of his own.  He does well on leash and his recall is good. He can be naughty and defiant, but he as loving as they come. He is even cat workable.  Adoption fees: Adult  dogs: 1-6 years $400.00 Each of our dogs are fully vaccinated to include Bordetella, DHPP, DHLPP and Rabies. We deworm each dog and chip. Lastly, we spay or neuter each of our dogs.  Our adoption process includes an initial conversation about the dog to see if the dog is a good match or if another dog could be a more suitable match. Franklin is dog friendly, loves his foster pack, people friendly, although he is a bit shy at first. Looks like he was not treated very well. His left hip does look smaller and seems was either injured or born with a defect, but this does not stop this little guy. Please note: We are a small rescue and do not have the resources to respond to inquiries. If a dog is on our website, it is still available. We can not arrange meet & greet without an application. We are not a shelter and do not have a facility. All our dogs are in foster homes. Adoption Fees: Puppies and dogs up to 2 years old: $450 Dogs over 2 and under 6 years old: $400 Dogs 6 or more years old: $350 Please follow Calpaws K9 rescue on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/CalpawsK9Rescue) for updates on our dogs. About a month ago we were asked to pull Rocky from the Fresno Shelter. This is a common request and from every shelter. We had no where for Rocky to go. No foster and no place for him. Rocky was set to euthanized that evening and we wanted to help. So with out a plan he came into our rescue. We do get applications from people wanting to foster, but many say they want a smaller dog, or a calm dog, many have cats, can not foster until a few months. So very few of these applications actually come into fruition. Since the urgency is for “now” quite often we need someone available and and ready to go last minute. Rescue is about being able to act quickly and work with what we have available at that time. Rescue is always changing. So Rocky was spared being euthanized and for a month he sat in another outside kennel, waiting on his medical. Last week we got him in for his vaccines and his neuter and then he was transported up to us from the Central Valley to the Bay Area. The paperwork says he is a year. He has a new foster and they have renamed him Franklin, which we love. He is dog friendly, loves his foster pack, people friendly, although he is a bit shy at first. Looks like he was not treated very well. His left hip does look smaller and seems was either injured or born with a defect, but this does not stop this little guy. He is very sweet and would be an asset in any home. He weights 47lbs, so he is a little guy! He sure is handsome. We will be getting his hip checked and we are willing to set it up with his new adopters vet. He sure is a cutie! 🐾🐾💜🐾🐾 Franklin is now available and ready to be adopted. If you would be interested in adopting Franklin, please go online to calpaws.org or any questions for to cpk9rescue.inquiries@gmail.com Please research this breed before filling out an application. Kane has spent the last year in a loving home with his fellow rescue sister Rylee, his two hooman brothers and mommy and daddy. He came in extremely malnourished, underweight, timid and a little fearful due to the extreme environment he and his siblings were pulled from. His family has worked really hard with him getting him on a proper diet to gain weight, obedience training, socialization with people especially kids and other dogs. Unfortunately, now over a year with his family he is getting fearful and reactive with kids that are not his own. This has been an extremely heartbreaking situation for his family because he is the most mellow gentle giant that loves to cuddle and always wants to be around his family but due to the frequency of visitors and gatherings that include lots of small children, it has been made clear that he will thrive more in a quieter home without children. Adoption fees: Adult: 1-6 yrs $400.00 Each of our dogs are fully vaccinated to include Bordetella, DHPP, DHLPP and Rabies. We deworm each dog and chip. Lastly, we spay or neuter each of our dogs. Luna is such a sweetheart. She loves to cuddle on the couch or in bed and she snores! She will dance in circles for her food and she eats FAST. Luna has a lot of energy and would need an active household. She knows sit, down and stay. She pulls when walking on a leash but is working on it. She can be pushy and is still working on her manners. She gets along well with kids, but when she gets running she could knock small children over. Luna is house broken and crate trained.  Adoption fees: Adult  dogs: 1-6 years $400.00 Each of our dogs are fully vaccinated to include Bordetella, DHPP, DHLPP and Rabies. New people it does take her a few minutes to warm up, and once she does, she is full of kisses and cuddles.   She is doing great at sleeping in her crate overnight, and for naps.  She has also learned to sit on command.  She is still working on potty training and is catching on very quickly!  She loves to play with her foster fur siblings.   We believe she is about 3.5 months old. Adoption fees: $450 for dogs 12 months/younger, $400 for dogs 1-2 Yrs, $350 for dogs 3-5yrs, and $300 for 6yrs and older Roxie is a very well rounded 65 lbs dog. She came from a homeless encampment and had her first litter at age 10 months. She is only around a year old currently. Since Roxie has never been left alone she does get a little nervous, but is something with work and love she will overcome. She is learning super fast with her basic commands. She loves kids and is supper gentile. She is great at only chewing on dog toys and really really loves tennis balls! She is cat friendly and dog friendly. I believe she will do best in a home with another dog. She loves going on walks and is super happy to meet new dogs and people. She is not much of a barker. She has the best head tilts ever! And has so much love to give. Her favorite spot is cuddling right next to you on the couch. Since she just had a litter and stopped feeding, she will need to be dry for 5 more weeks until spay. She will need to go to a home for a foster to adopt. We are looking for a home with a confident resident dog that can help Roxie building confidence. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please review our adoption process and then fill out an online adoption form at https://www.calpaws.org/adopting.
