Meet George!! George has been in the rescue for about two weeks. George was found dumped on a property dumped along with actual garbage. A common theme with many of our dogs. The owner of the property noticed this boy and immediately knew something was wrong and advocated for him. So he came to us. We immediately made sure his primary medical was taken care of. George however appears that he was hit by a car several months before. Untreated, his injury healed on its own and incorrectly. His front right paw is flat and faces outward. His back left hip protrudes and is consistent with being hit by a car. George does have a limp, but this does not deter this active boy. Wish George could tell us all his story! George is a goofy, funny, annoying, headstrong, little big man. He is a huge fan of his foster siblings, but they are not so much a fan of his. He is clumsy, he will bark, but telling you what is going on. He is very expressive and communicative. Let’s just say George is an annoying ham. He is the happiest boy and just wants to be loved and to love. George has been seen by two separate vets and we have had conflicting feedback. One stating he will outgrow his issues and the second suggesting he will have many long term issues and suggested we euthanize him now. Tomorrow George will be getting X-rays and after that we hope we will have more of an understanding of what George has going on. We are looking for a foster or a potential adopter for this sweet boy. Someone who understands and loves a “special” dog...George is that boy. We all love and enjoy George..he is a naughty boy and he will get into mischief. He loves his people and his favorite things is to be with you. He is so hard to be mad at...he is lovely. To think about euthanizing him, is devastating to all of us. We just want George to be happy and as long as he is pain free we want to give him the best! If you would like to contribute to George’s care please visit calpaws.org and donate. if you are interested in George, please review our adoption process and then  fill out an online adoption form at https://www.calpaws.org/adopting-1.  Experience with young dog training is preferred. Adoption fees: $450 for dogs 12 months/younger, $400 for dogs 1-2 Yrs, $350 for dogs 3-5yrs, and $300 for 6yrs and older Georgie is an eleven month old German Shepherd pup. Georgie is a big boy, approximately 75lbs with some more growing to do. Georgie came into the rescue when he was 8 months old. He was literally dumped with the trash. Georgie has several deformities to one of his front and one of his back legs. They have not required surgery however, Georgie has already received 1 of 3 surgeries to correct the issues. The last surgery was completed at UC David. Georgie’s foster family have sponsored him and the rescue will cover the other surgeries. Georgie has had a rough time and is now looking for a foster or adopter that is familiar with the shepherd breed. Georgie would do best with another dog and a strong shepherd handler. Georgie is current with his vaccinations and he is neutered. Georgie is sweet, but can be mouthy and pushy, a typical shepherd. Georgie is good with dogs and people, also kids, but since he has had medical issues he needs to catching up to do. We do have a trainer which the rescue will provide for the right home. Handsome Hank! Hank has been with the rescue for a few weeks. He is an approximately 1 1/2 years old. Hank came to us after he wandered into his foster families home. We requested that he go the the Martinez Animal Shelter to complete the stray hold and see if anyone claimed Hank. No one showed up to pick up Hank, so his foster family brought him back home and we are now looking for a fabulous home for Hank. Hank has not been exposed to much, but when he meets new people he is friendly, but cautious, he is still learning. Hank does not jump up and he loves his foster family! 💜 He knows sit, stay and basic commands. He is house trained, and does well with family life. He does pull on leash, but with a prong, he responds well. He will bark when meeting a new dog, but he is workable and slow meet and greets would be best. He is interested and curious about everyone and everything on his walks. Hank is loyal with his family and very affectionate with everyone in the home. No cats for Hank, although he has not been cat tested. He is around older kids and loves the whole pack. Hank is fully vetted. We are setting up a training date for Hank so he has more tools under his belt. if you are interested in Hank, please review our adoption process and then fill out an online adoption form at https://www.calpaws.org/adopting. This sweet girl is approximately one year old. She was pulled from the Coalinga Animal Shelter. Harper has been with her foster family for about a week. She is great with the kids, and people. She was good with dogs in the shelter, but she is the only dog in her current foster home. Harper loves her foster dad and goes to work with him everyday. He owns a family run body shop so people friendly is a must! Harper loves to greet the customers. Harper has beautiful markings and is a pretty big girl. It appears she could be a Great Dane and a Doberman mix. She is funny, goofy and takes treats very gently. She will bark (booming bark!) if you don’t give the treats to her quickly! 😉 Harper does have a cat in the home that she will bark at. She appears to be more fearful than prey driven. But unknown if she is completely ok with the cats. Harper’s medical will be completed at the beginning on next month, but we are taking applications now. We are looking for an active home where her people are home more often than not, and have experience with training large dogs and older children. if you are interested in Harper, please review our adoption process and then fill out an online adoption form at https://www.calpaws.org/adopting-1. That being said I’m a working dog, which means I am very high maintenance and need a job. I have lots of energy and love to play. I also really love to please my humans. I have responded very well to training at my foster home. Already know a few tricks! I get along really great with the other dogs and cat in the house. Kids are pretty fun too! They run a lot like me!! I get crazy sometimes, but I also love to cuddle. Kala needs a home that is familiar with working dog breed such as Malinois. She will need constant stimulation and will need to be exercised regularly and intensely, this is not a typical family dog. She loves to learn new tricks for treats or toy rewards. She sleeps well in her crate at night. If you are interested in this sweet baby girl please realize what it takes to raise a working dog puppy before you submit an application. Please note: We are a small rescue and do not have the resources to respond to inquiries. If a dog is our website, it is still available. We can not arrange meet & greet without an application. Hi!  My name is Keiki (Hawaiian for “child”) and I’m a healthy 14-month old GSD mix.  I’m a beautiful girl, just about 45 pounds.  Being a German Shepherd mix, energy comes naturally to me. I’m a very active girl.  Playing fetch with the ball is my favorite thing in the world and my current family uses this to enhance my training.  I know sit, down, stay, leave it, touch, and don’t touch to name the important commands.  I could use some help with recall and a little impulse control.  My friends at CalPaws and family say I’m super smart which means I like a challenge.  I love doing doggy puzzles and searching for toys and treats that my family hides in the yard.  I will find anything you lose outside!  I love hikes and runs outside too.  Long walks where I can sniff many new things makes me so happy.  I could use a little help with my leash manners, but with a prong, I’m a very good girl and get into the groove with you.  Oh, and running.  I love to run!  Whether it be in a large, safe field, or if you’re an avid runner, which no one in my current family is, I’m your girl.  If you need a little break, take me to the dog park!  I make friends with lots of dogs and love to engage in play with my fellow canines.  After a day of ball play, puzzles, long walks, and even dog park, I can still have energy to spare.  At night, give me a good chewy (Benebones or even an antler), and I’ll be happy to lie on the floor beside you and chew until I drift off to sleep.  Did I also mention I love long car rides and can ride with you for hours to our adventure spots? I’d love an active home with someone who’s a bit savvy with working breeds like me.  Active preteens and teens who could take me out to play with them would be plus, but I’m also really happy with someone or a couple looking for an adventure buddy.  No small children for me as I tend to get overexcited and sometimes trip them when I’m trying to greet or give them love.  I could do really well as an only dog as I see all other dogs as playmates and won’t leave them alone, which can make them a little cranky.  Plus, I see all toys as mine.  Not mean about it and no aggression, I just hoard a little.  I could possibly have a doggy sibling, they would just have to be really patient with me as I grow out of my puppy antics.  I’m workable with cats, but I do get very excited when I see them so it might be a bit much for them.  I just see everyone as a playmate!  I would also like a house with routine and structure as I thrive on consistency and am still learning as I grow. I hope to find my furever home with you.  I’ll be the reason you want to go on adventures and I’ll be your protector throughout it all.  I’m completely crate trained and sleep in mine throughout the night, not a single peep from me.  After all, we’ll need a good night’s sleep before a new day together! if you are interested in adopting this dog, please review our adoption process and then fill out an online adoption form at https://www.calpaws.org/adopting.
