Tank is such a good dog, sweet, loving and he is definitely an old soul! He even has a fan club, in fact Tank is currently being boarded at Brat Pack in Livermore and he is being sponsored by the owners of the facility. We are looking for a foster or adopter for Tank. He deserves to be loved and settled in a forever home. He is a gentle boy, submissive, sweet, good with dogs, cats, just a little shy when it comes to humans, but he is very loyal and quickly attaches himself to his people. We believe Tank is about 2.5 to 3 years old, he does take meds to help with his hips. He is not impaired, but it is noticeable when he walks or runs. He does not appeared to be any pain and it does not slow him down. Tank deserves to have an amazing family who will appreciate how amazing he is! Adoption fees: Adult dogs: 1-6 years $400.00 Each of our dogs are fully vaccinated to include Bordetella, DHPP, DHLPP and Rabies. We deworm each dog and chip. Lastly, we spay or neuter each of our dogs. Our adoption process includes an initial conversation about the dog to see if the dog is a good match or if another dog could be a more suitable match. We also will complete a home visit. It should be noted that our adoption counselors know the dogs and can best guide any possible adopter with a suitable match. Please visit https://www.calpaws.org/available-dogs for the adoption application! We are always in need of experienced fosters for the amount of dogs we have coming in. Meet Garth Do you remember the story of “Lady & the Tramp”? Garth’s story is a real life version of this Disney classic! We first found out about Garth after we were told about a female dog (Sadie) and her puppies abandoned at a warehouse in Modesto. This has become a familiar story lately. Vickie, who is one of our volunteers attempted on many occasions to try to trap mama and the babies. The babies were quite old and were not very friendly. The puppies were caught by other people or simply disappeared, but we did catch mama Sadie. We also attempted to catch the male dog, who we assumed was dad because he was always nearby. He was friendly, he would come near, but never allow us to capture him. So long after we got Sadie we were still trying to capture Garth. He was very good at avoiding capture. We even set up a trap and were unsuccessful when the trap failed us. Eventually Garth wandered into a back yard and was caught and brought to the Stanislaus animal shelter, where he was neutered. Vickie has been part of Garth’s story since the beginning and advocated for him by bringing him home to foster. He loves Vickie and her family. Garth is a funny quirky boy, he is playful, sweet, fun loving and affectionate. He is loyal and he has a great bark to let you know something is not quite right. He is really a great dog and he seems to know and appreciate what it is like to be loved. He is ready for his forever home. Now he knows what it is like to be with family he just wants to be loved and be a part of it. It is so hard to believe that anyone would just leave an innocent, loving being in the open to die! But Garth is looking for his people, a place where he can roll around on his back, (a favorite thing to do is sleep on his back) get lots of pets and give lots of kisses. He is about 80lbs, two years old , good with most dogs and we think he is a Mal/shepherd mix. He is a truly beautiful boy! Adoption fees: Puppies: 0-1yr $450.00 Adult dogs: 1-6 years $400.00 Seniors 6+ $350.00 Each of our dogs are fully vaccinated to include Bordetella, DHPP, DHLPP and Rabies. Phoenix is an approximately 3 yrs old mix German Shepherd, that was on the streets in the Central Valley when she was hit by a car in December. Unfortunately the break in her front right leg wasn’t healing properly and her leg was amputated in early April. Phoenix is a very special girl who is recovering fantastically on her three legs. She is very playful with all size dogs and people. She is very gentle with children, but loves to play with them when allowed. I haven’t seen her turn away from anyone. She enjoys sunbathing in the grass and snuggling up to those who will rub her and give her love. She also looks forward to take her morning sniff walk around the nearby park and her evening outings to play with other dogs. Phoenix doesn’t have a mean streak in her or harbor any resentment of being put out on the streets. Phoenix is looking for her forever home with those who will love her unconditionally and she will do the same…. Meet Tabitha Tabitha is an approximately 1-2 year old female Anatolian Shepherd Dog. She is spayed and has all her shots. She is also housebroken. She was a terrified girl at the Stanislaus shelter who had recently had puppies. Because she was so shut down, her time was up! She’s has been in foster care learning how to just be a dog. Her first walk was baby steps. Each step for her was a step of faith. She was terrified of people and still doesn’t want much human interaction but she is learning to trust. Tabitha started coming out of her shell playing with our male Anatolian. He got her to wag her tail for the first time. We then fostered some 6 month old German Shepherd puppies and she took to babysitting them. They all ran and played in the pasture together until the puppies were adopted. Tabitha was sweet with her corrections and the puppies all deferred to her. She has since been living with a young German Shepherd boy named Vinny. Vinny has gotten Tabitha to wrestle and dog play go into the kiddie pool, play with toys and bark at “dangers”. Tabitha leashes up nicely for walks but is shy to be leashed up. Tabitha would do well in a home with a large yard and other friendly dogs. She’s still shy of people and will need a family who will take their time building trust with her. She is a gentle soul with a brave heart. Once she is settled in, her true Anatolian spirit comes out as a love and protector. Let us know if you want more information or a meet & greet. Meet Mama Maddy! Mama was found wondering in an area where many dogs are dumped. She was left there for about 2 years a local farmer told us. When she was brought into the rescue she was so defeated and shut down we knew it would take her time to decompress. She has made a complete turnaround. Her eyes are happy and soul shines so bright now! Mama, has been the sweetest, most mellow and low maintenance dog ever. She came into our home feeling unsure about herself and unsure if it was okay to be inside the house but with a little encouragement she quickly made herself at home and picked out the most comfortable spots in the house, the couch and my son’s bed, Ha! :D She has been great with my 4 year old boy as well as with our cat. She is non reactive to dogs, people or anything really. She seems to be attracted to smaller dogs or dogs her own size, and females but very submissive to male dogs. She walks great on leash, likes to explore, however does not have the best recall manners but I think that will come with time as she gets used to having a human of her own. She is also a little bit of a food thief if left unattended but she is a quick learner so with love and patience this can be worked on. Overall, the best mama ever! She has very little prey drive, so we believe she is cat workable. Meet Leia! Leia is an adorable pup with tons of personality! She is approximotly 10 weeks old. She came into rescue a little beat up but is quickly learning dogs and humans can be nice. She is sleeping well in her crate throughout the night and for naps during the day. She is about 90% potty trained and will go to the back door when she needs out. Leia knows sit, here, and is working on other basic commands. She is a very smart girl and loves to please. Her favorite spot to be is right next to her foster Mama wherever that may be, lounging on the couch or doing chores! She is very loyal! Leia gets along great with the other dogs in her foster home and we believe she is cat workable, she has little prey drive. She also does great with children. Simon is approximately a four month male teriier mix. Simon is a confident boy with a lot of character. Simon is living in a home with a large chocolate lab, they get along well. Even though the lab is much larger Simon has not figured out he is much smaller and he is a worthy advisary to his big buddy. Simon is learning to be house traiined as well as being crate trained. He is living in a home with several kids and he loves the acitivity around the house. Simon would do best in a home where he taught about boundaries and obedience. He is fun and sweet.
