It's Violet, like the character from The Incredibles! This once very shy girl has blossomed! In one of the many recent trips to the Martinez Animal Shelter our volunteers stumbles across this diamond in the rough. She was trapped as a stray and brought to the shelter where she completely shut down. She had full mammaries meaning she had recently had puppies but they were no where to be found, maybe she was dumped. Our volunteers saw something special in her and she became a CalPaws dog. Once in her foster home, it only took about a day for Violet to trust her new foster mom, within a couple more days she was wagging her tail and offering her paws for attention. Shortly there after she started running with the fur siblings (big dogs and a cat) and has never looked back, she now meets new people easily and gets so excited to see her family even if you were just out of the room for a minute! She has had a relaxing bath and is ready to meet her furever people! Violet is 100% dog, cat and kid friendly. She is fully house broken, uses a doggie door, has done obedience training and passed with flying colors! Violet would do best in a home with another confident dog as she has no interest in being in charge. show less

🐍 Meet Cobra! Hi humans! My name is Cobra — that’s what the rescue calls me. My foster mom, on the other hand, likes to call me “No” and “Velociraptor.” I’m still not sure why… I mean, come on, look at this face — I’m adorable! I’m young pup and a proud Belgian Malinois pup. My foster sister Sophie is showing me the ropes on how to be the best dog ever. I’ve got plenty of energy, so I’ll need an active family who loves to play and explore. My nose? It’s basically a superpower. Don’t even try sneaking a snack — I can smell it the second it leaves the fridge! My favorite games right now are tug-of-war and seek. I’m getting really good at potty training, crate time, and learning to sit (though I’d rather bounce like a pogo stick sometimes). I love cuddling with my foster mom and playing with the neighbor kid. He laughs a lot when we play chase — I’m fast, but gentle, and I never knock him over. If you’re looking for a smart, funny, high-energy companion with a big heart and an even bigger nose, I might just be your guy! 🐾 show less

Meet Beautiful Lilah Girl. Lilah was failed by her humans but lucky for her she found another human who was willing to advocate for her and so Lilah Girl is now a CalPaws dog. She is approximately two years old. It is believed that Lilah didn't have a chance to do much sociailizing prior to coming to CalPaws, but that's ok because she is now a rescue girl so she gets to freshen up her skills. She is very smart and sweet with just the right amount of energy, Lilah is being fostered with children and a toy poodle who is also her bestie, Lilah is spayed and vaccinated and ready for her next chapter to be written. She will thrive in a home with someone who has breed experience as well as the time to help get this girl to her best self. show less
