This is Red and this is his story! Red was found when a young man was on his way home from the gym last October. This dog was left on the side of a country road in Modesto, but the young man lived in Patterson. With the help of his mother Lori, they began looking for his owner. The family checked him for a microchip, but he didn’t have one. He was posted on lost/ found pages and made a Pawboost post. But no one claimed this boy, it is apparent he was just left by the side of the country road. He is lucky he has Lori and her son advocating for him. Now Red is officially in the rescue. He is neutered, fully vaccinated, chipped and ready to be in his new home!! Red is dog friendly and loves hanging with the other dogs in the home. Red's foster is a professional dog walker and he ghets to spend time with all the other dogs in the pack. He loves the daily walks and the social aspects. Red is an awesome dog! Meet Amber! Amber came to us about 10 weeks ago. She was pregnant and defeated. She wondered on to a safe property, trusting her instincts, I’m sure. She broke away from the chains. Chains she has known her whole life. She knew no basic commands. She has no clue what a toy is. She never has stepped foot in a house. She has never known love. A common theme of back yard breeders. She has been chained her whole life. Amber is now learning. She is learning love. She is learning kind hands. She is learning her purpose. As rescue we are teaching her to play like a dog, love like a dog, and be her own self. These pictures show the chains as she grew. Scars that will be there for her lifetime. We can’t change the past. But we sure can change the future. We love you Amber! We are so happy you found your way to Calpaws! We believe she is about 2 years of age. She is very mellowed natured. Amber is very smart, and is learning some of her basic commands, she is doing great! She is treat motivated, so learning is both rewarding to her and her human! She loves to be right by her human, either doing chores or relaxing. She is very loyal. She loves to go on walks and does very great! She gets along great with other dogs and is learning to play with them! We are unsure how she would be around cats. She does great around children of all ages and loves the pets and snuggles they bring! She is fully potty trained. Amber would love a house where she can be loved and where she can continue to learn more commands and tricks! Meet Grizzly! A CalPaws volunteer was at the shelter rescuing a pregnant momma when a construction worker walking in with him. Fortunately, she scooped him up before he went through intake which kept him from getting exposed to all of the shelter cooties as an unvaccinated 5 week old puppy. Grizzly's foster home has young kids, dogs, cats and even a few foster kittens. He has been exposed to it all! His favorite past time is wrestling with his teenage foster siblings (Pinto and Ruby Berry) whom he adores, chewing on bully sticks and falling asleep in the most random places! Georgie is a Siberian Husky approximately a year old. Neutered and vaccinated. He is high energy, very clever and keen to please. Like all Huskies he likes the company of other dogs and humans. Loves long walks, running off leash and playing with other dogs. He will make a great addition to a family with other dogs that can play and challenge him. Loves his toys and is very playful. He does great in a crated while no one is home. He will happily 'play' with your toys and chew everything with your scent on. He is fully potty trained! Drinks and eats well and is a healthy young dog with a happy and sunny personality. He will do best in a home with other dogs!
