Sienna is a young adult female and she came from the Stanislaus Animal Shelter. Like many dogs she was going to be euthanized and we brought her into the rescue just in time. Sierra has been in three foster homes, mostly for exposure.    Sienna is very loyal! She loves her walks and is amazing off leash, her recall is excellent and she knows her name. She is definitely a dog that needs a strong handler, to know she is protected as she can be on the timid side. This means she can bark and be defensive. She does have prey drive, loves chasing the squirrels and I have a jack rabbit on the property that likes to tease and taunt Sienna. She is fast, but not quite fast enough. She is elegant and she is a very fast runner! I love watching her.    Sienna is being fostered with 3 other dogs, but she is amazing with other dogs. Just making sure she knows you are in charge is the key. She has resource guarded food as well as people. This is managed with stern correction. Sierra needs a home where she is given clear boundaries. She is an awesome dog.    Her eyes have so much to tell you. She’s sweet and loving beyond words, and loves to be where her human is. As much as she loves her humans she equally loves her squeaky and chew toys. Sienna is crate and house trained. She is good with kids, no cats. She rides well in the car and is good with being left alone. She does not destroy or get into things when she is left alone. She has lovely eyes and a very soulful dog.  Adoption fees: Adult: 1-6 yrs $400.00 Each of our dogs are fully vaccinated to include Bordetella, DHPP, DHLPP and Rabies. We deworm each dog and chip. Lastly, we spay or neuter each of our dogs. Our adoption process includes an initial conversation about the dog to see if the dog is a good match or if another dog could be a more suitable match. We also will complete a home visit. It should be noted that our adoption counselors know the dogs and can best guide any possible adopter with a suitable match. Please visit https://www.calpaws.org/available-dogs for the adoption application! We are always in need of experienced fosters for the amount of dogs we have coming in. Meet Hope! Hope came to us from her owners who had to leave their ranch. Fostering this sweet girl has been a blast. She is very sweet, loves ands wants to be wherever her owner is. She loves playing ball outside and playing tug of war, but ideally wants to be inside laying next to us. Hopes ideal owner would be someone who could spend a lot of time with her and be home with her. She is crate trained, and very food motivated (her favorite is McDonald’s burgers). Hope knows basic commands and does very well walking on a leash, she also has a very impressive recall. She doesn’t bark very much at all, but when she’s excited she whimpers and rolls over on her back to get belly rubs. She does tend to be cautious of people until she knows she is safe, and once she knows that she’s the biggest sweetheart . Unfortunately at the moment she isn’t very keen on being around other dogs(or cats, she’s chased multiple) but we feel that with the proper training she could do well with other dogs. Adult: 1-6 yrs $400.00 Each of our dogs are fully vaccinated to include Bordetella, DHLPP and Rabies. We deworm and microchip each dog as well as spay or neuter. Our adoption process includes an initial conversation about the dog to see if the dog is a good match or if another dog could be a more suitable match. We also will complete a home visit. No one else knows my whole story but I was taught some skills along the way in my two years.  Sit, down, shake, stay, and leave it are easy. Potty training? I am even learning where in the yard I should go. Walks are all business and I like to go fast. My crate is my sanctuary and I retreat to it even when the door is open. I am a great sleeper, like my naps, and easily sleep all night.  I like to play with toys, munch on bones, and play games. My signature move is wiggling on my back - grass is best but carpet works too. I enjoy outings like restaurants or Lowe’s. I have a really cute prance but am not super high energy. I often get the zoomies in the evening and am a bit goofy most of the time. I like my older foster sister and we are working on what games we both like to play. We agree that chasing squirrels in the backyard is great fun.   As you may have guessed, I am super smart, want to please, and am food motivated. I want a family where they can teach new tricks, take me for walks, and give me all the loves I want - which is a lot. Don’t worry though, I am very good at telling people when I need some rubs or belly scratches. I am going to be a great addition to a lucky family who is looking a younger dog that is already trained, quiet, not naughty at all but still has lots of personality. Adoption fees: Adult: 1-6 yrs $400.00 Each of our dogs are fully vaccinated to include Bordetella, DHPP, DHLPP and Rabies. We deworm each dog and chip. Lastly, we spay or neuter each of our dogs. Maggie was brought into a local veterinary clinic by animal control in late May. She likely had been wandering the streets of Alameda county for many months--she had hundreds of ticks and foxtails embedded in her matted fur and was close to death. She also had a large, infected wound along her backside. After many days in the hospital and multiple surgeries to repair her injuries, she is healed up and ready to find her forever home!  Personality: Maggie adjusts quickly to new people and falls in love easily. Initially was very submissive, but has gained a lot of confidence in the last few months and is becoming more independent. She gets along with cats and dogs of all sizes, so long as they give her space at first. She spends a few hours every night at a local off-leash dog park and stays close by. She is house trained, still learning how to walk on a leash, and shows no food aggression. She displays mild separation anxiety that has improved greatly in the last month with positive reinforcement training.  Maggie is approximately 1-2 years old, spayed, microchiped, and up to to date on vaccines. She still needs to gain a few pounds and grow her coat out, but otherwise healthy with no lasting medical concerns.  Adoption fees: Adult: 1-6 yrs $400.00 Each of our dogs are fully vaccinated to include Bordetella, DHPP, DHLPP and Rabies. Meet Nala! Nala is a 5-6 month old Siberian Husky, Malamute, Shepherd mix looking for her forever home. Warning: one look at those beautiful eyes and you may fall madly in love with Nala! Nala is the perfect family dog who does well with kids, all people and other dogs. Never met a dog or human she doesn’t like! She’s confident yet dog savvy with very good manners. She does well on a leash, loves a good walk or jog.  Nala is wicked smart and learns fast, food motivated and eager to be around her humans - if you are doing something, she wants to be right there by your side as well. With her beautiful winter coat, Nala gets warm quickly and loves a fan on her at night. She enjoys spending some time exploring outside and napping with her face near a cracked door with cold fresh air. Nala is extremely sweet, does enjoy cuddling more than most huskies and really bonds with her humans. She’s got an amazing disposition and loves to sing and ‘talk husky’ to you when it’s time to go for a ride or time to eat. We’ve had Nala as a foster pup since she was just 3 months old. She’s been spayed and fully vaccinated. Nala has done well with kittens in the house but has on occasion chased squirrels and chickens in the yard. Nova-Sweet mama Nova is a "diamond in the rough" because her full potential hasn't been discovered yet. Nova is a bit on the skinny side from having babies and probably lacked good nutrition. But that doesn't stop her from being dynamic and proving every day what a beautiful and gentle soul, she has. Nova has started to blossom, and she loves to play and run around the yard. She is starting to act like a puppy and pick up toys and toss them around. She is well mannered, listens to commands, eats without resource guarding her food, gets along well with other male dogs, and is fond of livestock. She has been well mannered around a horse, couple of cows, cooped chickens, and adult goats. I would still proceed with caution around smaller or baby goats as she did want to chase them. Nova is potty trained, rides well in a vehicle, rarely barks or has any reaction to other animals. She walks fine on a leash and doesn't pull unless she really needs to use the restroom, but otherwise she is such an amazing and beautiful dog who will make a great addition to any home. She was polite around a two-year-old child, no jumping or aggression. Nova is fine if left alone, or with people. She is not a digger, so she won't destroy your yard. She doesn't require alot of coddling but still requires enough attention to feel comfortable and loved. She will go in a crate but prefers to sleep out of a crate on a bed.  She has recall manners and listens fairly well. She is still learning her foster home and environment, but she has adapted remarkably and will continue to make improvements. Please consider adopting Nova and seeing her brightness shine like the diamond she is. Adoption fees: Adult 1-6 yrs: $400.00 Each of our dogs are fully vaccinated to include Bordetella, DHPP, DHLPP and Rabies. We deworm each dog and chip. Lastly, we spay or neuter each of our dogs. Reese is a 4 yr old, 1st Edition  “of it fits, it sits” shepherd. If there is a 4 sq inch space beside you on the couch, he would like to fill it, and he WILL find a way! He is a top-notch cuddler and has a knack for learning alarm clocks. After just a morning or two, you will feel his nose nudge you 30 seconds prior to the ring of your first alarm. Are you the “hit snooze 6 times” kind of morning person? No problem! A simple “not yet, go back to bed” will send his head back to the pillow like yours. He is patient and knows a good thing when he sees it (you!). This sweet boy is affectionate, attentive, and an excellent companion. Whether you are on the couch bingeing a favorite show (he is a trooper and will make it through season after season!), supervising your children (he will gladly adopt them as his own charges as well!) at the playground, or enjoying the great outdoors! Nicknamed by his foster mom, “Reese’s Pieces” knows sit, down, stay, look, heel, wait, come, and his mad catching skills for treats means he is ready to learn even more! Reese walks well on a leash, likes to meet new dogs, and is even good with cats. Reese has even helped babysit bottle-baby kittens and enjoyed bathing them after feeding, then lying beside them as their giant protector. His level of empathy is beautiful. Reese adores the tiniest humans, though his giant movements can be a bit much for them, so kiddos from 3 to 9 tend to be his sweet spot. The smaller the human, the safer Reese feels, and he is highly attentive to their well-being too, curling around them when someone new comes around, and whining, licking their faces when they cry. Messy toddlers are Reese’s time to shine, though, because his attention to detail in cleaning them is spot on! Do you like to play fetch? So does Reese! Who exactly is doing the fetching part is the real question… Reese loves to gallop like a giant puppy and has the biggest smile to tell you how much he loves to play with you. Sometimes that smile is holding a ball, and sometimes you’ll both get some steps in while you search together. Either way, Reese is a team player and will be by your side the whole time. He is a dedicated good boy. He recognizes when someone, of any age, is caring and offering love, and he clearly reciprocates it. Reese can be a tad nervous meeting a lot of new people at once, but your reassurance that he is doing a good job, that the newcomers are friends, and maybe a nice snackie, are all he needs! Reese enjoys Benebones, fresh marrow-filled bones, and the remainder of that deli sandwich you left too close to the edge of the counter. He has quite a palate and would love to continue tasting the wonderful offerings of the world with someone willing to share a bite! Adoption fees: Adult: 1-6 yrs $400.00 Each of our dogs are fully vaccinated to include Bordetella, DHPP, DHLPP and Rabies. We deworm each dog and chip. Lastly, we spay or neuter each of our dogs. Figgy is a striking German Shepherd, Lab Mix, about 3 years old. She is eager to learn, be loved, and give love.   Fig is crate-trained, house broken, and knows basic commands. Fig has a calm, gentle demeanor and seeks out affection from her humans. She sometimes has her guard up when meeting new friends but warms up quickly and then she is ready to be besties! Fig prefers friends closer to her size but she gets along with all dogs and is strictly the canine variety, I guess she can't shake her history of chasing cats in the street. She enjoys long walks and is great on a leash. She is not easily startled by cars, motorcycles, or sirens. Stunning, beautiful, sweet and shy boy! It seems that this may be the first time Andy has a home as many things seems to be a 1st experience for him. He comes alive and active at night, could be his past where that’s when he was safe to roam around without being hurt or scared. He is still very cautious and nervous around loud noises and people but is learning to trust. His potential is yet to be discovered but with patience and love this boy will flourish. He seems to have very little drive as he just stares at the bunnies he sees on our walks, doesn’t try yo chase. He is potty trained, will retreat to a quiet place in a home when is too much for him. Patience and love is the way to his heart. Adoption fees: Puppy: up to 1 yr $450.00 Each of our dogs are fully vaccinated to include Bordetella, DHPP, DHLPP and Rabies. We deworm each dog and chip. Meet Eileen! I couldn’t ask for a better puppy in my house, Eileen is potty trained, knows to only chew on her toys, she’s thoughtful and gentle with the other dogs, she has a blast walking on her leash and is very polite.  I don’t normally foster puppies, and I have thoroughly enjoyed every moment with Eileen. We take her downtown, and she greets anyone willing to give her rubs, she’s gentle with little kids, isn’t afraid when they approach her. I have four cats, and while she would love to chew on them, she respects each of them, they correct her and I correct her and she just sits down and gives them space, I’m so impressed with this puppy. Having three legs hasn’t slowed her down a bit, she is in fact, faster than my Siberian husky.
