She still has the playfulness of a puppy, combined with the maturity of an older dog; she loves to play and gets excited, but also knows when to calm down and is fully potty-trained. She is a great inside dog, but absolutely loves to be taken out for walks. Ducky is extremely intelligent and well mannered. She doesn’t get overly excited with people and jump all over them. She does love attention and affection though, and will happily reciprocate that. Ducky is a little excitable around other dogs, but in a very playful way. Meet Cinder! Cinder is approximetly 6 month old Belgin Malanois.  She is a super sweet agile girl!  She has had little training but does know some basic commands.  She is super eager to please and is a very fast learner!  Training with her will both be rewarding for her and for her handler. She is learning that toys are fun to pay with and all squeakers need to be popped in them! She does have some prey drive, so no cats for her! She sleeps well in her crate at night and will willingly walk in it during the daytime for her naps. She is leash reactive with other dogs, simple corrections are all that is needed, and she is back on track.  She has the energy of a Malinois but will settle well and cuddle on the couch. She truly has a sweet soul! Please research her breed before submitting an application! Please note: We are a small rescue and do not have the resources to respond to all inquiries. Although his foster mom has been calling him Henry. We believe Yoda (Henry) is about 6 years old. Karyn first reached out about him several weeks ago. Sad case as he was in the Clovis Animal Shelter, he was well over a hundred lbs and had mobility issues due to his size. Karyn brought him home, got him on a weight program. She found out that his hips were fine, but carrying that much extra weight had essentially made him handicapped. She also found out he has a thyroid issue, which is being treated with medication. This is where his transformation first began. Getting him regulated with meds and start working on getting the excess weight off. This weekend Karyn transferred him to our rescue. He has that old soul way about him. He is currently in the Perez home. He is good with his fur siblings. He is also good with people and kids. No cats for Yoda! We are still getting to know him since he is new in the program. We will be sharing more about Yoda and lots more pictures as he gets more settled in. Koekje (the Dutch word for Cookie, her foster parents are Dutch) is a beautiful 4.5 yr old, 83 lbs, medium size  German Shepherd. Koekje is quite an affectionate, soft and sweet dog, good with older children, and very curious. She loves her humans and  prefers to be close to her humans at all times.  She lives with 2 German Shepherds in her foster home and gets along well with both of them even though she did not have a lot of exposure to other dogs in her first 3 years.   Please note: We are a small rescue and do not have the resources to respond to inquiries. If a dog is on our website, it is still available. We can not arrange meet & greet without an application. Adoption Fees: Puppies and dogs up to 2 years old: $450 Dogs over 2 and under 6 years old: $400 Dogs 6 or more years old: $350  Koekje is actually a very smart cookie. She learns fast, loves to be on the trails and sniffing, and chasing lizards, birds and squirrels. She learned to swim within 30 mins by just watching her siblings! She is just happy to sleep next to your chair or bed. She enjoys riding in the car, 4 hours to the mountains is no problem at all for her. Koekje has exceptionally good recall and stays with the pack at all times. She walks with loose leash and has learned to ignore other dogs on leash by focusing on her handler (with a treat). She loves fetching balls and learning to drop the ball on command (or in exchange of a treat). Koekje regularly attends a shepherd playdate  with almost 20 shepherds and does really well with socialized shepherds.  She is learning  how to improve her doggy manners with dogs of all sizes in dog parks and on the beach, and back off if the other dog finds her too pushy. She does not like to fight nor challenge other dogs, not aggressive at all, and will quickly back off.. Koekje is very vocal and loves to sing when she is excited (which is often). The ideal home for Koekje would be an active and very GSD-experienced family that understands smart shepherds, loves training together, and where she is rarely left alone and have a solid male dog friend. Like most shepherds, Koekje has a strong prey drive so no cats or small critters for her. Koekje has some hip dysplasia and elbow dysplasia which has not held her back yet. We are monitoring her blood work for elevated liver values.   Please research this breed prior to filling out an application so you are fully informed. Looking for a smart, sweet, and slightly clumsy boy? Luke is your man. Luke is a little timid upon first introduction, but wow he warms up quickly. He is thriving in our home after only a few days. In a matter of 24 hours, he picked up many of our resident dog's habits, for better or for worse haha! He is a smart cookie. He and our dog play all day long and he wants to always be by her side, so we think he would do best in a home with a confident resident dog that he can learn from and bond with. Luke is sleeping well in his crate over night, and aside from a couple accidents in the house on the first day, he seems to be almost fully housebroken. He is a large, strong boy so he needs some solid, consistent leash training. As mentioned, he's a quick learner, so we think he'll be a loyal, trainable, happy-to-please-his-owners type of dog in no time. We can not stress enough, learn your breeds.
