Oscar is TRD's new dog on the block but this dog has been around the block a few times in his time. Oscar is an 12-year-old mini poodle and like fine wine, Oscar only gets better with age. Oscar came to us when his dad got cancer and couldn't provide for Oscar anymore. Oscar is a spunky healthy senior who has many happy and healthy years ahead of him, and he can’t wait to meet the perfect family to enjoy them with. Oscar has a sweet, mellow natured personality. He is also a professional grade snuggler. He enjoys playing with squeaky toys and will dance and toss them around! He is great with all adults, kids, female dogs, and cats too. He loves going on walks--walk time is pretty much his favorite time of the day. He is steady and relaxed on walks and has excellent leash manners. Oscar loves car rides, and for wanderlust adopters, he is going to be the best travel buddy. He weighs 11 lbs so he is lightweight and easy to take places. Oscar is house trained and his favorite place to sleep is curled up with a human. Oscar would be a perfect fit for a family looking for a kid-friendly, low-maintenance dog and a sweet temperament. If you would like to meet Oscar, please fill out an application on the The Rescued Dog website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet. show less

Mario is such an amazing puppy! He was found with his brother who had been hit by a car and was not able to walk. Both boys were in rough shape but Mario did all he could to keep Luigi safe and get them rescued. He's a modern day Lassie (is that too outdated for 2021?)!! Mario is a 3-4 month old lab/shepherd mix and we think he will be 40+ pounds when full grown. He does great with dogs, was in a foster home with a toddler and did well, but he was a little freaked out by his feline foster sister. Cats are scary!! Mario is great in his crate and doing really well on his potty training, but it is a work in progress. He had never been on a leash before and wasn't a fan at first, but he is getting the hang of it and loves walks. He would love a home with an active family who understands the importance of socialization and training for a young puppy. Mario is ready to be an amazing ambassador for rescue dogs, he really has so much potential. His current foster says he is the best puppy she has had in awhile, and she fosters a lot of puppies! Mario is sweet, loves to play, is not too clingy and in our eyes he is a hero! If you would like to meet Mario please fill out an adoption application on our website and his adoption coordinator will be in contact.  show less

Are you ready for a FURever friend to dance into your life? Meet Disco, a 13-14 week old Shepherd/Australian Shepherd mix! Disco is 10 pounds now, but likely to be 45 to 50 pounds. He is a very energetic dog and loves to run around outside. He knows how to fetch and he's crate-trained, and soon he will also be house-trained. Disco is still a curious puppy and occasionally pulls his leash to sniff around, but he's great with other dogs, kids, and any new people he meets. Since he's an extremely active and playful dog, sometimes you'll have to guide him back into his pen or crate, or else he'll just keep having fun! Disco has recently discovered his voice and is practicing using it! He enjoys attention so he will playfully bark now and then when he wants attention. After all, he is the life of the party! The ideal home for Disco would be an active home that has space for him to go outside and run around. A big bonus would be a home that has kids or other dogs to play with him because he's always down to play fetch and go on walks. Disco is a very happy pup that anyone would love to have, especially if you're someone who enjoys long walks and hikes. If you think you and Disco would be a good match, please fill out an adoption application on our website! https://therescueddog.org/adopt/adoption-application/ show less

Did you know that spots on dominoes are called “pips”? The spots on this Domino are called Abs-Adorb which stands for Absolutely Adorable! He is an Australian Shepherd/Shepherd mix who, don’t let his small 13 pound 3 month old stature fool you, he is estimated to get up to 45 - 55 pounds fully grown.  Domino loves morning and evening walks. He also loves playing ball and with a rope toy. Not only handsome, he is a pretty talented guy who is crate trained, potty trained AND does well on a leash! Known commands include sit, come & name recall. While we aren’t sure if he is good with cats, we do know he is good with kids, men, women and strangers!  Domino is a great dog! He is very food motivated and is currently learning how to take treats gently. He listens well and genuinely wants to do the right thing.  Domino’s ideal home is with an active family who will take him to parks to run around with other dogs. This will be especially important if he will not have a furry brother or sister. Well, I don’t know about you, but my heart has toppled over faster than a stack of dominoes for this sweetheart!  If you are interested in meeting Domino, please fill out an application at: https://therescueddog.org/adopt/adoption-application/ show less

Hi! I’m Bugsy!!! I heard you coming! Did you know I’m up for adoption?! I love meeting new people!  What I would really love: a home that has a ball, a nylabone and stuffed animals! A home where I’m not left alone for long days and can get lots of cuddles. Treats are cool but what really motivates me is positive attention and love. Oh! And a home that has a crate because I’m working on training during the day when left alone and I like sleeping in my crate at nighttime.  Here are things I like to do and I hope you do too! I love going on daily walks and PLAYTIME! While walking I need some reminders that not every human or dog wants to pet me or play with me. I’m learning a new word called “boundaries”.  My Stats: I’m 5-6 months old and am potty trained. I do get excited when greeting people so much I pee a little but hopefully that wears off with age. Discovering the world is so new and exciting right now! I’m good with other dogs and can also entertain myself. Known commands are sit and name recall. I weigh 22 lbs now but my foster Ma says when I grow up I’ll be 45-55 lbs. Is that big??  If you would like to meet me, please fill out an adoption application on our website! Hope to hear from my new family soon! https://therescueddog.org/adopt/adoption-application/ show less

Presenting...Lilly! Lilly is a 11 month old 38 pound lab/shepherd mix rescued from Tijuana (we predict she will be just a bit larger dog when fully grown). Lilly has come a long way and now she is ready to find her forever home! Lilly is loving, snuggly, energetic, and very smart (she was able to pick up potty training within a week!). She is housebroken and knows quite a few commands, but she is still working on walking with a leash. Lilly is an active puppy and absolutely loves to play fetch. She is also very sweet and friendly to all people and children once she gets to know them. However, Lilly can be a bit shy with strangers, at least until she trusts them (then she is very friendly and peppy). Lilly’s ideal home would be a loving family that is patient with her while she adjusts to a new lifestyle. Other dogs would also be a major plus as she developed special bonds with the dogs in her foster home and we believe she would do her best if there were other confident dogs in her adopter’s home also. Lilly is so loving and sweet—and she gets very closely attached to people she trusts. That said, she has some separation anxiety and whines when left alone for about 10 minutes. We don't believe this is a serious issue and will likely decrease over time in the right environment. Lilly is such a sweet and loving dog, and she would compliment many families. If you think Lilly could be a match with you, please fill out an application. show less

What could be more adorable than a litter of American Bully mix puppies? Well, a litter of puppies with Lion King themed names. Sisters Nala and Serabi, along with their brothers Hakuna, Matata, and Scar, came to TRD in August 2017 from an accidental litter. Their mother is a white german shepherd, and the father is an American Bully. At 10 weeks of age as of early August 2107, Nala is already 15 lbs. We expect her to be in the 50-60 pound range full grown. She has a beautiful cream colored coat, which makes her stand out from her siblings. According to her foster mom, Nala is fun and fearless, and loves to explore, and also wrestle with her sister Serabi and her other canine foster siblings. Nala has been working on her house training and her crate training. This little lady is smart, and ready for some basic training with her new forever family.Nala will be a perfect fit for a family that is looking to adopt a young pup and is willing to work on his house/potty training, and leash walking in return for unlimited and unwavering puppy love and loyalty. If you would like to meet Nala, please fill our an adoption application and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet.http://therescueddog.org/2015/dog-adoption-application/ show less
