This five-year-old cutie came to TRD from a local shelter, and has quickly wiggled his way into his foster family's heart. Pickles lives with another dog and enjoys the company! This good-natured dude likes a good walk, and a good game of chase with his canine foster sibling, and playing with his toys. When it comes right down to it, though, Pickles is all about couch time with his humans. He loves spending time with his people, and he's sad to see them leave. He is crate trained, and is working hard on his house training, although he hasn't quite mastered it yet. He's working on it though! Hi there friends! My name is Kelsey and I’m ready to find my forever family. I'm a spunky, cuddly, playful 8-month-old Dachshund/Corgi mix who came to The Rescued Dog from a local shelter. I may be a bit short in stature, but I'm a solid guy weighing in at 26 pounds. My foster mom says I'm a foodie and love to chew my toys and once something I heard is a shoe, not a toy. Sorry! I love to run and jump with the other dogs in my foster home and would sure like a doggie brother or sister of my own. I'm an active guy and by the end of the day, I'm ready to go to sleep in my crate. I'd love to get out on the town and explore with you. I walk well on a leash wearing my harness. Meet Cookie! Adorable Cookie is a 6 year old Shih Tzu mix we saved after being surrendered to the shelter by her family. We quickly learned she was in a great deal of pain and needed emergency surgery for very large bladder stones. Cookie is all healed and ready for her forever home! Cookie absolutely loves human attention, belly rubs, treats and stuffed toys. At 18 pounds she's the perfect fit for any home. She's a fun little goofball when she gets her occasional case of the zoomies all over the house! Cookie has great house manners in her foster home and is trusted sleeping in her human foster siblings room. She currently lives with a younger, submissive dog. We think she'd do best as the only dog or possibly with a very mellow respectful dog. As a 6 year old lady set in her ways, we are certain Cookie would love a calm house with her people around most of the time so she can continue to partake in her favorite activities- couch napping and belly rubs. Poor Cookie had a dramatic change in her life at 6 years old after being thrown into a shelter. She would now love to find her true forever family that understands her needs and loves her. Sheldon and his equally genius sister Amy came to TRD from a local rescue. Sheldon is a 4-month old poodle mix, weighs 10 pounds, and should weigh under 25 pounds full grown. According to his foster family, Sheldon is the sweetest little fluff ball. He is well mannered and just happy go lucky. He is always in good spirits. Like his namesake, Sheldon is really smart. At just 4 months, he is already crate trained and house trained. He sleeps in his crate alone. Leash walking and basic commands are easy for this puppy. Like most puppies, Sheldon loves to chew everything. Human toes are his favorite. His foster family is working on training him out of this habit and Sheldon is responding well to redirection. Sheldon is great with all adults, kids, dogs, and cats too. He is a total lap dog and loves to snuggle. His ideal home is with someone who will snuggle a lot and is looking for a lovable lap dog. Meet Nella! She is a beautiful 2-year-old poodle mix rescued originally by one of TRD's fellow rescuers in Mexico. She is full grown at 22 pounds, which is a perfect size for most living situations. Nella has an affectionate and sweet disposition. She loves to greet her people with love and kisses. She likes to wiggle her butt in the quirkiest way when she wants to play. She likes to play with the ball and stuffed toys. She is great with well-behaved dogs and she is cat-friendly too. She likes to jump on people to greet them, and although her foster family is working on training her out of this habit, long term she may be well suited in a home with kids 10 years and older only. Within just a few weeks in her foster home, Nella has become comfortable spending her day with her foster brother, while her foster mom is at work. She is almost crate trained and house trained too. She has been really great at learning leash manners, she walks calmly and is adapting to be non-reactive to new sounds and smells. Nella's foster mom takes her to Fiesta Island and Nella has been well behaved off leash. Nella is an adorable pup who will shower her forever family with love and snuggles. My foster Mom tells folks I'm a love bug. It's true. I'm very affectionate and really, really love to cuddle with my humans, even the little ones. Looking for a princess to warm your lap, and your heart? Meet Buttercup! Buttercup was rescued in partnership with an independent rescuer in Mexico. She came to us with a broken pelvis and needed some serious TLC. We took one look at her adorable face and her cute low-riding frame and we knew she was a TRD girl! We are happy to report that Buttercup has fully recovered from her injuries, and has proven to be a sweet and patient trooper. Her foster dad reports that Buttercup is very loving and always up for a snuggle or belly rub. She's a bit feisty and isn't afraid to vocalize when she needs a bit of attention. She is not persistent about it though which makes it cute. Buttercup definitely has that puppy playfulness in her. She is also very treat-motivated so even though she doesn't know a lot of commands right now, she is very trainable. Buttercup's ideal home would be one that is excited to take on a younger pup and guide her through adulthood. Continued training and snuggles will keep her happy. Buttercup is friendly with other dogs and is learning to play. She currently lives with another smaller dog and they get along great. Meet sweet Shelby! She is a 32-pound, 4-year-old shepherd-beagle mix and she has been a long time foster with TRD. When Shelby was rescued in the Fall of 2018, she was diagnosed with cancer. After multiple surgeries and lots of love and care, we are happy to report that Shelby is now completely cancer free and ready to embrace the next chapter of her life with her forever family. Shelby will thrive with adopters who are active--she is an excellent running buddy. A home with another dog (of her size and preferably female) will be a good fit for her. She loves to run around in her foster mom's yard and does great in the local dog park. This outdoors-loving dog likes the ocean too (good thing she lives in San Diego!). Shelby is completely house trained and she is very well behaved around the home. She is good with kids, dogs, and even cats! Given her rough beginnings, she may be shy with to new people and experiences but give her some time and she will show her beautiful personality. She is very independent and does well when left on her own (not clingy at all). show less
