“I so much want to be your friend” seems to be little Nya’s message to every person or dog she meets. This little puppy is so affectionate, loving and cute, her foster mom says everyone who meets her wants to take her home. Either in her foster home or out and about walking in her neighborhood, she totally melts hearts with her obvious happy interest in everyone she meets. At just 9 months old, Nya is fully grown and won’t get much bigger than 20 pounds Nya could be a lab/beagle mix - with maybe even some Italian Greyhound in there with her love of running and lean build, says her foster mom. She has energy and playfulness in abundance, and would be a great running or hiking buddy in addition to daily walks. She is very easy to train, is treat motivated, and already knows sit, no and comes when you call her by name. Yet with all that exuberance, Nya is also a true lap dog; and she doesn’t care who she snuggles up with. She cuddles gently and happily with the little boy she’s living with. She will also cuddle with either of her foster sibling dogs if she has the opportunity. Nya is good with kids (if not too rambunctious), and even cats. Nya is still working on house training, but is coming along well. Like most active and intelligent dogs, she needs lots of activity to ensure she doesn’t busy herself doing something you don’t want. Luckily, she’s almost crate trained - but would rather be out with people and dogs having fun! Do you think you might be the perfect forever family for adorable Nya. When TRD first rescued Clover from Devore in early March, she was a fearful and shut-down puppy. She would not let her foster family touch her and we were worried that her road to recovery would be a long one. Of course we were underestimating the strength of puppy resilience! Clover has grown confident in leaps and bounds in the last few weeks, and her true, funny, puppy personality is starting to shine. Clover's favorite form of exercise is a "wrestle-fest" with her foster pack. She is very dog-friendly and generally seems most comfortable around other confident dogs. This is true when she is out on pack walks. She is submissive on leash and walks behind everyone. She can still get skittish when encountering loud sounds, but she recovers quickly with some encouragement from her humans. Clover has turned into a very playful puppy. She loves to play fetch and has good recall. She is working on the "drop it" part of fetch, but will give up the ball freely. She also loves toys of all kinds. Once Clover bonds with her humans, she enjoys "talking" back when her humans speak to her. She has a lot of personality! Clover is still wary of new people, and will need to be introduced to new people quietly and slowly. She is still learning that humans are OK. TRD will include a training session on these introductions as part of Clover's adoption. Clover is about 28 pounds at 16 weeks old. We estimate that she will be about 50 to 60 pounds when she is full grown. Are you looking for a fun and spunky puppy to grow up with you and your family? Please fill out an application to meet Clover! show less

Calling all smush-face under-bite loving dog lovers! Meet Wednesday - this Puggle (Pug/Beagle) has a one of kind “muggle” with her adorable under bite and snaggle tooth! Wednesday broke her left rear leg a couple months ago and had it splinted. Her previous owners did not provide any follow up care to change the splint and weeks later brought her to the vet complaining of smelling rotting flesh! Wednesday developed gangrene of the leg and her owners could not/would not pay for the vetting, so Wednesday was left at the vet with an unknown future. Thankfully the wonderful vet provided the very best care and although she lost a toe, her leg (and life) was saved!! Wednesday now resides in a loving foster home with 2 kids (8 and 10) and one very old dog and has adjusted amazingly well! At approximately 8 months old, Wednesday is almost 100% potty trained, knows “sit”, and is very eager to learn. She is smart and is very food motivated –her foster mom says she is a breeze to train using treats! This girl is a goofy, fun loving puppy who enjoys lots of action and play along with social outings and walks. She goes everywhere with her foster family in order to continue to learn social behavior and confidence in all sorts of situations. Wednesday has a wonderful balance of energy and snuggle—she sleeps on her human kid’s bed at night and doesn’t make a peep for 10 hrs. She is curious and slightly cautious with new surroundings—however, she warms up very quickly to all people and loves a good belly rub. Her leash walking needs some fine tuning; like all puppies, she is sometimes overly curious and barks or pulls toward birds and other dogs. Wednesday has a wonderful demeanor and with continued training in a loving, active home she will grow to be an amazing canine best friend! Her foster family adores her and can’t say enough positive things about her—their general consensus? “Wednesday is such a great dog—easy, fun loving, smart, and ridiculously cute!” If you would like to meet her, please visit our website at www.TheRescuedDog.org and complete an application and we will get you set up for a playdate. show less

Tiny 3 lb Dolly is a six month old white & tan Chihuahua mix and everyone who meets her just melts over this little doll. Found as a stray in San Bernardino County, this little puppy is blossoming in her safe new foster home. Initially afraid of most everything and only wanting to be carried close and safe in the arms of her foster family members, Dolly is now finding new confidence to independently explore this big world. While her favorite activity is still following her foster mom around like a shadow, with her tail always wagging, she is becoming more and more playful, is discovering what she can do with dog toys and is now quite happy going on her daily leash walks. Dolly is living with another older dog who is well trained and is a TRD dog too - Donny. Dolly she watches him closely to learn about doggy ways, which is helping her come along nicely with house training. She lives with two young children, 4 and 6-years old, and adores them, and is now deciding that the two cats in the house might be fun new playmates as well. As her confidence and sense of safety grow, Dolly is getting more and more secure in meeting new people and dogs. She'd be perfect in any type of household where her tiny size is cherished and respected. Dolly and Donny are a wonderful pair together and excellent 'siblings' maybe your home might have room for two great pups as we think Dolly will surely flourish in her growth and training in a home with a buddy like Donny. If you'd like to meet, please visit www.TheRescuedDog.org and fill out an adoption application to make a date with Dolly or Donny or both. show less

Donny is a stunningly-handsome, well-behaved 10-lb., long-haired dachshund mix whose foster mom says is a perfect dog with absolutely no problems whatsoever. It is perplexing to understand how this five-year-old little gentleman ended up as a stray in Rialto, CA, but he will be a joy for anyone looking for an easy-going, contented companion. Donny is an affectionate, happy-go-lucky guy who gets along well with everyone. He is totally house trained; crate trained, walks well on leash and sits on command. Donny enjoys being with his family, which in his foster home includes a mom, dad, two young children, a foster puppy and two cats, and is always excited when his people come home. But he's also an extremely mellow guy, happy to just sit and watch what’s going on around him, such as observing the behavior of the cats he lives with, or just lying in the sunshine. Although he enjoys his daily walks, Donny doesn't crave a lot of exercise or activity. In fact, while he loves attention and companionship, he is independent enough to go on his own to chill in his crate when he’s ready for some alone time. Donny has been neutered, is in great health, up-to-date on vaccinations and microchipped. He would be great in a home with another pup and would be ok on his own as well. He is currently fostered with his best girl Dolly and if you have room in your home for two, they would be a perfect addition. If you'd like a chance to meet Donny, please visit www.TheRescuedDog.org and fill out an adoption application. show less

Well, hello there! I'm Finnegan, a brindle Boxer mix, whom my foster momma – she's typing this for me because my paws don't fit well on the keyboard - saved just in the nick of time. Anyway, I'm between 1-2 years old, male, and 56 pounds - I know, I know, a little underweight, but if you saw what I had to eat at the shelter, you would understand. My foster mom is working on nutritional meals for me so that I may reach my desirable weight between 65-70 pounds. Mom gave me a full spa day when I arrived. I was bathed, conditioned, treated for fleas, fully vaccinated and chipped. I am well-mannered and pretty much the strong silent type unless a stranger approaches the door. I am eager to learn basic commands when treat motivated and I do require adequate exercise as I am an active pooch and there's nowhere else I'd rather be than walking by your side! I have a moderate energy level and enjoy going for long walks around the neighborhood, but fetching tennis ball is my #1 activity. I am curious and alert when I see cats and other dogs and I love all the attention I receive walking by school kids every morning. However, I love to snuggle and be tucked in at night. So, if you are looking for a loving and affectionate companion, I might be the one for you! Won’t you come meet me and give me a chance to win your heart? show less

Beautiful Beatrice is an absolute cuddle-bug of a boxer. Just about a year old, this sweet young lady craves affection and human contact. Her foster dad says if you give her even a crack of an opening next to you, she will calmly squeeze her way up to snuggle as close to you as possible. No sitting at your feet; she wants to feel the security of being with a person she can trust. Beatrice is friendly with the people she meets, likes other non-aggressive dogs, is fine with cats and adores children. She spent a day with a six-year-old recently, and was totally gentle and affectionate with him, following him everywhere like his long-lost best friend. Rescued as a stray wandering the streets in Mexico, Beatrice is still underweight at 45 lbs. but is filling out nicely now that she has proper care. Cautious around unknown dogs and strangers after her trials as a stray, she warms up quickly after assessing that she is not in danger. She walks calmly on leash and enjoys long play times at the dog park with her foster dad’s own small dog. She even comes when called already. Well-behaved and non-assertive, Beatrice is house trained, crate trained and not at all destructive when left alone at home. Her foster dad says this sweet and gentle boxer has such a mellow personality, it would be hard for anyone not to love her. Fully vaccinated, spayed and micro-chipped, Beatrice desperately craves a forever family. If that might be you, please visit www.TheRescuedDog.org and fill out an adoption application to make a date with Beatrice. show less

Nora is an affectionate little black Chihuahua and Corgi mix, probably between 2 and 3 years old, with a white chest blaze and a bobbed tail. Weighing around 14 lbs., she loves to snuggle, is happy to hang out in her kennel when she wants alone time, is curious to watch out the window when going on car rides, and is well-behaved on leash when walking with her foster home’s two larger dogs. This girl especially loves attention from her foster mom and is always happy to be carried around with the people she has bonded with. She's been really great with children; her foster parents say that over the Christmas holidays she delighted the visiting grandchildren with her playful ways. Nora is easy to have in a home. She has not shown any destructive behavior. Even though her favorite kennel companion is any one of her foster mom’s sneakers, she does not chew items she should not. She is a pretty quiet dog as well. While she occasionally barks, and sometimes even seems to talk, she is not an incessant noise maker. Her foster parents also note that they enjoy her adorable way of dancing for treats. Being alert and curious - and very treat-motivated - the consensus is that she should be an easy dog to train. Nora already comes whenever her foster mom calls her by name, is crate trained and is almost house trained. While Nora gets along well with the other larger dogs in her foster home, she seems to enjoy being the center of attention and would be just fine if she was the only dog in the house. If you would like to meet Nora, who is already spayed, microchipped and up-to-date on her vaccinations, please fill out an Adoption Form at The Rescued Dog website. show less

Oh my goodness - three fabulous little girl puppies were found abandoned in a field and they are the most human-friendly little babies ever. They were scared but wanted to be with people so much. One of the rescuers daughter's named them after the latest Charlie's Angels - Alex, Natalie and Dylan - because they had so much spunk and heart. As far as we can tell, these girls seem to be a hound-mix, quite mellow, and may even have Great Dane in them, too, according to one their foster's personal assessments of their attributes. Tiny now, but possibly may well grow to be big dogs. But not to worry - they seem to be dogs who can give you some needed exercise and then sleep quietly and relax in their home. How perfect for their owners. These three girls - Dylan, Alex and Natalie - are around 19 pounds now at four months old and are expected to possibly get up to 50+ lbs. at full grown. Right now they are just puppies who are very smart and ready to be trained by a loving family. All love dogs and children, snuggle up on the couch, and are behaving well on leash walks. Natalie loves running laps and wrestling with her canine siblings in her foster home's backyard, and has just begun her daily leashed walk around the neighborhood. But this girl is happy entertaining herself with all the available doggy toys at home, too. With her inquisitive nature, though, her favorite activities are following her canine brother around like a little shadow, and watching whatever people going by are up to. Curious about everything, she does take a break from exploring by just nestling in on the couch with her foster mom. She is the best of her breeds - playful but calm and snuggly, too. Who wouldn't find her a perfect pet? show less
