Are you looking for some sweetness in your life? Meet the Sweet Treats litter! This adorable litter of puppies was was wandering the streets of Mexicali when they were just a few weeks old. Thankfully TRD was able to take in these pups and get them off the streets! We believe these puppies are Australian Shepherd/Spaniel mixes and are 10-11 weeks old as of late June 2021. The puppies currently weigh between 6-8 lbs and will likely be between 30-35 lbs when fully grown. The Sweet Treat puppies will require an adopter with an active life style who understands a herding breed and their need for activity and stimulation. They need an adopter who is committed to providing training, socialization, mental and physical activity. The puppies are all active, energetic, playful, affectionate, and intelligent! They love cuddling, belly rubs, exploring in the backyard, tug of war and all the normal puppy play! The puppies are all working on potty training. They have been very good about learning how to be great pups but will require basic puppy training, an active lifestyle, lots of love and guidance to become the best pups they can be. All training is an ongoing process and they will need encouragement and positive reinforcement for continued success. These puppies and ready to start life with their new forever families. If you would like to meet any of the Sweet Treats, please fill out an application on the TRD website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet. show less

Liberty is a real sweetheart who was rescued from the streets along with her puppies. She was unsure of people at first, understandably, but her fosters say they are impressed with how much she is adapting to her new life. We think Liberty could be about 5-6 years old and had quite a solitary life without a lot of human contact or love. She's a pretty 35lb lab, potty trained and crate trained for up to 8 hours but is also able to stay by herself without being crated for up tp 6 hours, Liberty LOVES the outdoors. She walks great on a leash and just loves to roam the neighborhood. Liberty has enjoyed going on 4 walks a day and will keep walking for as long as her people want. Liberty has done great meeting other dogs and is learning how to play at the dog park but hasn’t had much interest in 2 legged friends (humans). She will sometimes growl if approached too quickly but has also allowed people that she just meets pet her. She is also at times cuddly with people she knows well and has grown leaps and bounds in this area. Because Liberty is still learning trust and security with humans she has shown some possessiveness over her foster mom who has been working with a trainer and she is doing great. She has not been around children or cats but has done great meeting other dogs. She needs a patient adopter who will continue to work with her and help her to gain trust in humans. Her ideal home would have a yard that she can run around in and explore and a mellow, patient family who wants to provide her with a great second half of her life. If you'd like to meet Liberty please fill out an adoption application application on our website and an adoption coordinator will be in contact. show less

Introducing Blanca! One and half year old, Blanca, is a beautiful 35 lb lab/husky mix. This sweet girl was another one of TRD's saves from the streets of Mexico. Her foster has been working hard with her on basic training, impulse control and confidence in new situations/environments. Inside the home she is the perfect dog! She is goofy and sweet and loves her people. This striking, gorgeous girl knows many basic commands including recall and place training. Blanca recently completed a specialized board and train program to obtain the most comprehensive plan and tools to help her be successful with a new family. She will need strict structure and someone willing to commit to her training in order for her to become the best dog she can be. Different dogs require different training techniques depending on their behaviors and personality and we are committed to finding a family for Blanca that will support these needs. Blanca will go to her forever home with support from her professional trainers that includes a session to learn about the tools needed for Blanca to be successful. This smart girl will flourish with the right people who have dog experience and understand what's best for her. We gave this sweet girl a chance at a new life from her solitary, stressful life on the streets and now we are looking for her perfect family to support the rest of her learning and transition. show less

Oh hi there, my name is Yeti. I am 13 weeks old and looking for my forever home. I'm a lab mix and the people who rescued me think I will be about 50 pounds when I grow up. I have a pen with a crate to sleep in and when I get enough exercise I don't mind being there for a few hours at a time. My foster brother and I play a lot and we go for walks which I love. There is lots of basic training here in my foster home like sit, down, leave it, and touch. My potty training is still ongoing though. My fosters say I am sweet, sassy, smart, and not shy at all. I like to get the ‘zoomies’ and run around the house playing for an hour or so and then fall asleep outside in the sun or under my foster's desk on a bed. I'm a big puppy who just loves to be held and cuddled, but that also means I can get rambunctious. I am teething and can get a little ‘bitey’ during play so I might not be the best with the younger humans. I have never met a cat, but I love meeting other dogs and new people. And water...I like water a lot! Do you have an active home — I think I would love hiking and adventures outdoors; maybe a yard to run around? I don't need another dog in my life but I think I would like it best if it was a boy. Everyone I meet loves me, so if I sound like your cup of tea fill out an adoption application to set up a play date, I think you will love me too!! show less

Hi I’m Lucy! I am a 7 month old lab/shepherd mix. I currently weigh about 23 lbs and am still growing. I was rescued from Mexico with my siblings and have been thriving in my foster home. I am a pretty typical puppy that loves toys, playing, people, and other dogs. I have a lot of puppy energy and am looking for a family that has some experience with dogs since I am high energy and need some guidance (training!). My current foster describes me as playful, affectionate, energetic, and loving. I respond to my name and the command “down” as well. I love to chew on my stuffed toys, ropes, and Nylabones and I'm a typical teething puppy. I currently live with my sister pup and resident dogs, so I am happy to have have new animal siblings or be the star of the show. Since I'm young and learning the ropes of good behavior, I shouldn't be left along for long periods of time. I've started my crate training and am doing great and I am also learning to walk on a leash. I love running around and playing in my yard multiple times a day. I am not completely potty trained, but I am almost there and am learning quickly. My ideal home would be one with a yard and other dogs to show me the ropes of life. Room to roam, play, and run is important since I will be medium-large when fully grown. As a puppy, I currently need a lot of play time and walks due to my high energy. I can’t wait to meet my new family! If you are interested in meeting Lucy, please fill out an adoption application on our website and an adoption coordinator will be in contact. show less

Meet Phoebe! This cutie pie is a very special little girl. We saved Phoebe after learning she was thrown over a fence as a very young puppy. She came to us with some severe medical issues after this trauma. Phoebe spent her first several weeks being continuously medically evaluated after having seizures and we've been assessing some deficits that are still a bit of a mystery to us and our vets.  Due to her early trauma we think she may have some decreased hearing and vision but this has not affected this playful, spunky girl!  At about 5 months old now, Phoebe will be a small-medium sized pupper; likely 20lbs or less. Phoebe is still working on her crate training and potty training. She is great with dogs and would likely benefit if she had a patient, friendly dog sibling in her new home.  She enjoys the company of all adults, but due to her small size only homes with older kids will be a fit.  This sweet cuddle-bug really enjoys being on anyone's lap and snuggling when she's not bounding around with puppy energy.  Phoebe's attention is short so training will take patience. She's just starting some training of basic commands and doing well learning her leash walking. Her foster mom describes her as sweet, affectionate and energetic.  We don't know to what extent the trauma she endured will have. What we do know is that she has recovered amazingly from her initial symptoms and medical concerns thus far. She may end up having some life long vague deficits related to seizures, hearing, vision and learning, but we just don't have those definitive answers. Adopting Phoebe will be the epitome of rescue; taking the abused and abandoned and helping them to heal, transform and know love. If you'd like to meet this sweetness in person please fill out an application on our website.   show less

Introducing happy go lucky Sierra. This sweetheart with the soulful eyes came to us with a broken leg that hadn’t healed properly. After making every effort to save her leg, it became clear that amputation was the best option. However, being a leg down hasn’t cramped this little lady’s style one bit. Sierra is a Basset Hound/Schnauzer mix and about a year and a half old. According to her foster Mom, there is nothing this little wonder pooch can’t do. She has a terrific disposition, described as a nurturer. She loves meeting new people and pups. Sierra is great with everyone she meets including children, strangers, women, men, and other dogs. She hasn’t met any cats yet, but with her easygoing personality it would probably be just fine. Because of her social nature, Sierra would thrive with a forever family that takes her to fun places like restaurants, trips to the pet store to pick out a new ball, or the dog park to make new friends. She goes everywhere with her foster Mom and loves every minute. And, don’t start thinking a three-legged doggo can’t keep up, cause this pretty girl doesn’t know the word quit. She loves to play fetch and go on long walks with her people. Sierra is a smart gal who already knows the commands sit, stay, come, and down, as well as her name. She is crate trained, though she’d prefers staying close to her people. Sierra’s foster Mom is having a hard time letting this lovebug go because she is truly a wonderful companion. There is no doubt that Sierra will always have a special place in her heart. If you think that Sierra is the pup you’ve been searching for, please submit an AdoptionApplication. show less

Meet handsome Leo. He didn't have the best start at life but he is ready to move onto his forever home! Leo came to us from Tijuana with his 5 siblings. They were under socialized and as a result are skittish in new situations and around strangers. Leo has come a long way in his foster homes where he lived with several dogs. Leo is 25 pounds at 7 months old so we think he will be in the 50 pound range when full grown, but that is a best guess. He is crate and potty trained, doing great on his leash walking, and working on meeting new people. These will be ongoing needs with this special guy. He will need a family who will continue to expose him to new situations outside the home. Leo needs a lot of structure to learn how to be a respectful dog, so adopters with dog experience are preferred. His current foster says he has come a long way in a short amount of time. He is eager to learn and has a lot of potential in the right home. He is goofy, loves to play with toys and other dogs, and is very food motivated so training is going to be fun for him! Leo doesn't know his own size so he won't be great around young kiddos. If you would like to discuss potentially adopting this cutie please fill out an application on our website and an adoption coordinator will be in contact. show less
