Meet Tutti, a fun and confident beagle mix who came to TRD from the Humane Society of Imperial County. According to Tutti's foster family, Tutti is a bold personality stuffed into a runt. He is not timid, will explore everything, and will stand his ground when romping with his canine foster siblings. Tutti is fun and social and has a whole lotta personality in a little package. When play time is over, Tutti is a cuddle bug with his human friends. Tutti is also really smart. It will be fun and easy to train this guy! He has already gotten the hang of crate training and he is well on his way to being completely house trained. Tutti is 8 pounds about about 3 months old as of early December 2017, and we think he will grown into a nice mid-sized dog when he is an adult. Dexter came to us from the Humane Society of Imperial County. When we first took him in, he was skin and bones and covered in ticks. After a good bath, lots of TLC, and a loving foster home, he is now happy and healthy, weighing in at 19 pounds. He is about 2 years old as of November 2017. Dexter lives with another dog and two cats and interacts well with all of them. He gets a daily walk and loves playing with his foster sister in the backyard. Dexter adores his human friends and always greets them with a smile and a wagging tail. He is a smart boy and learned how to sit for a treat within a couple days of coming into his foster home. Initially he was not a fan of being in a crate, but now he sleeps there comfortably and only puts up a little fuss if he has to be crated during the day. According to his foster mom, he has a sweet disposition and is happiest when he is cuddling up to his human companions. Meet Persephone, a 10-month-old pup brought to TRD from the Humane Society of Imperial County. Persephone is a cattle dog-border collie mix, currently weighs 20 pounds, and may put on a few more pounds before she is full grown. Like her namesake, Persephone has the personality of a complete goddess. She is a sweet and affectionate dog who loves giving and getting attention. Within a few weeks in her foster home, Persephone has opened up her loving, true self to her family. She is great with adults, kids, and other dogs in her foster home. Like most puppies, she is full of energy and loves to run and play. Her favorite toys are balls, ropes, and stuffed toys. She loves to go on walks and at other times she likes to run and sniff around in the yard. Although she is new to leashed walks, Persephone has really picked up leash training and has been generally good on the leash. She occassionally tries to bite and pull on it, but with proper training she can be trained out of it. Given her affectionate personality, with the right amount of time and attention, Persephone could be easily trained. She has already picked up a few commands along with crate and house training. Like most puppies, Persephone also has a tendency to chew on inappropriate items around the house. Her foster mom has been training her on this behavior and has noticed that Persephone is slowly (and reluctantly) starting to catch on that chewing (unfortunately) may not be desirable after all. This affectionate puppy is sure to bring joy this holiday season into her forever family's life. Meet Pierre, aka Pierre the Panda Puff! Pierre came to TRD from the Humane Society of Imperial County. This little guy packs a whole lotta personality in an adorable 8-pound package! When Pierre came to TRD, it took him several weeks to shake a nasty cough. Now that he's all better, Pierre's personality is really starting to shine. His foster mom reports that Pierre loves to meet people on his walks, and also likes meeting other diminutive canines. Bigger, higher energy dogs tend to make him a little nervous (can you blame him?), as do small children, so slow introductions would be needed with bigger dogs and we recommend that Pierre goes to either an adult-only home or a home with older, respectful children. Pierre loves toys and is constantly carrying a toy in his mouth. He even tries to bring toys along on walks. Pierre is also quite the cuddle bug, and he loves to take naps on his back with his belly and feet in the air, not to mention the tongue hanging out. He's a funny little dude! Pierre is about 8 years old and would love to cruise into his golden years with his new forever family. Rikki came to us on a Wings of Rescue flight from Louisiana after the recent hurricanes there. She is about 7 months old as of November 2017 and weighs about 38 pounds. She is sweet and friendly, playful with other dogs, and adoring of people. True to her nature as a Catahoula Leopard dog (bred to herd cattle), she has lots of energy and is always looking for a job to do! She is crate trained and will happily enter her crate for a treat, but when she comes out, it is time to run and play! She loves romping in the backyard with the two other dogs in her home. Rikki would love to find a family who will take her for runs or hikes, and give her lots of opportunities to play. Her foster dad takes her for a daily 2-mile walk and takes her to the dog park two or three times a week. She is potty trained, and knows a few commands, including “sit” and responding to her name when called. She is intelligent and ambitious and learns commands and routines quickly. Sweet Sundae came to us as an owner surrender just three days after giving birth to her three puppies. Since then, all three puppies have been adopted; now it is Sundae’s turn to find her perfect forever family. She is almost three years old and weighs about 12 pounds. He foster family takes her for walks a few times a day. She is crate trained and potty trained, and knows a few commands, including “off” and responding to her name. Sundae is good with kids and sweet to people she knows. She needs slow introductions to new people and dogs. She has been working with her foster family and our trainer on building her confidence while on walks; she sometimes barks at people and other dogs. Meet Moby, a sweet and handsome beagle who came to TRD from the Humane Society of Imperial County. Moby is a stately middle-aged man (about 7 years old) who has nice manners and an old soul. His foster mom reports that he is not overly active, but he does love a good walk. As a beagle, of course his favorite thing to do is sniff around the neighborhood. If he gets his nose on a scent, there's not much anyone can do to distract him away. He also enjoys playing fetch with his people. When the day is done, Moby loves a good snuggle session. Moby currently lives with another dog and a cat, but he is overly interested in his feline friend, so we recommend an adopter with no cats in the home. Moby is friendly with all people, including children, and he is house trained, although he does tend to mark when he is out on walks and in new places. In typical beagle form, Moby is smart but can be stubborn. He knows some basic commands like Sit and name recall and he could learn more. For the most part, Moby is a mellow dude who just likes to hang out with his human friends. At 33 pounds, Moby is a sturdy little gentleman. Looking for a workout buddy who will keep you in shape through the holiday season with an added bonus of unlimited love and licks? Meet Dennis, a Border Collie mix who came to San Diego on the Wings of Rescue Flight all the way from Louisiana after Hurricane Harvey. Dennis is 1 year old as of October 2017 and is a full grown at about 45 pounds. Dennis is a kind-hearted and sweet pup who has connected very well with his foster dad in just a few short weeks. Dennis loves to hang out with his pack (other dogs in his foster home) and spends his time romping around in the backyard along with 2-3 mile long walks each day. Like any Border Collie, Dennis needs ample exercise and a proper daily routine to keep him busy. His forever family will need to continue with this routine. He has shown good promise with training--he understands "Sit" and has good name recall. He is completely house trained. Teaching him more tricks and commands will also be a good way to provide mental stimulation. Dennis loves to meet people, dogs, and kids--he may seem shy in the beginning but warms up soon enough. According to his foster dad, Dennis has been a good company when dining out. He calmly sits around his foster and loves to people watch! Are you looking for a sweet and handsome buddy to keep you company? Meet Raffy, a Jack Russell Terrier/Dalmatian mix who is 6 to 7 months old as of October 2017. Raffy grew up as a puppy in a Louisiana shelter and came to TRD when we took in a group of dogs from Louisiana after Hurricane Harvey. His foster home here in San Diego is the first time he has lived in a house with a family. We are happy to say that he's catching on quickly to his new home life! Raffy is still learning what is appropriate to play within the house, but he has come a long way in a month. Raffy loves all toys, and enjoys playing fetch. He is HIGHLY food motivated and will do anything for food. Training Raffy will be easy and fun! He loves to play with other dogs his size and when the play gets a little too much for him, he bellies up to show submission. Raffy is crate trained and has almost completely mastered his house training. Raffy will make a great dog for an active family! Meet Frankie, aka Frankie Four Feet! Frankie came to TRD from the Humane Society of Imperial County. Originally picked up in El Centro by animal control as a stray, Frankie was transferred over to HSOIC because it was too hot for him at animal control's facilities and he was having trouble breathing with his little smoosh face. HSOIC asked if we could take him because he seemed to have some health issues. We gladly agreed to take on this little charmer, and are we glad we did! Frankie is a fun-loving guy who goes everywhere with his foster mom. He's a hit at the office and at happy hours alike. When we first got Frankie, we brought him to our vet, where we discovered that he has a heart murmur. He also had a treatable tick-borne disease, which has since completely cleared up. We got Frankie on a regimen of heart meds and supplements for his joints, and we are pretty sure this 9-year-old is ready to live forever! Frankie is sporty and spunky and likes a good walk, but he also appreciates nice long naps (snoring required!) Frankie took to crate training immediately and has never had an accident or issue in his crate. Frankie was not neutered when TRD first took him in, and was fond of marking, well, everything. He has since been fixed and has learned that marking is not a desirable behavior, but his foster mom still keeps a close eye on him (you can't blame a guy for trying!) Frankie is a fit 21.5 pounds, and is in great shape. Frankie lives with three other dogs and gets along great with everyone. He even lets himself get goaded into wrestling with his young canine foster sister from time to time. Out and about, Frankie is a real gentleman and greets other dogs with a friendly wag of his tail (yes, a Boston with a tail!) Overall, Frankie is everything that is lovable about Bostons: he is handsome, sporty, snuggly, and just a little bit sassy. He's always got a twinkle in that one eye of his. Meet the Clueless puppies! They are aptly named after the characters from the 90's romcom Clueless, because that's exactly what these puppies are--Clueless! In the best kind of way, of course. Now that they are with TRD, they are living the dream, puppy style, and have already forgotten their rough start in the shelter. They are merely 9 weeks old as of mid September 2017 and they weigh under 5 pounds. These spaniel-terrier mix puppies are expected to weigh about 15-25 pounds full grown. Cher spends her day romping and playing with her siblings in her foster's yard. Her favorite toys are rope and stuffies. She has an adorable and loving personality coupled with the playfulness of a puppy. She is friendly with adults, kids, dogs, and cats in her foster home. According to her foster mom, Cher and her sister Tai are usually the first ones to settle down after play time. With their young age, these puppies have not had any training yet--they are truly "clueless" in that aspect as well. They are currently working on learning some basic commands, along with potty training and crate training. They sleep in a crate at night. They haven't had any leash walks yet, so their leash behavior is unknown. Cher's forever family will to be expected to continue to work on training her further so she can learn to be a well-mannered companion. Cher loves spending time with her siblings but she is looking forward to finding her forever family soon. She knows she is the prettiest puppy ever so her adoption should be easy-peasy! As if??
