Are you looking for a sweet, active pup to take on all your life's adventures? Honey might be the pup for you! Honey came from the streets of Mexicali, she is 9 months young and 35 pounds, but will likely top out over 40 pounds. She is crate trained, mostly house trained and good with dogs. She does like to chase cats so definitely not suited for cats in her forever home. There are no children in her foster home, she is young and can be nervous with loud noises so older respectful kiddos might be best. Honey is a higher energy puppy with tons of potential. She is looking for a family who will continue her training, expose her to all the sights and sounds of the world at large, and nurture her sweet as honey personality! She would love a older canine sibling to play with, but would do fine with active humans who will exercise her daily. She likes to chew things she shouldn't so crate training will be a must for this active girl. If you think you might be the right fit for Honey please fill out an adoption application on our website and an adoption coordinator will be in contact. show less

Meet adoptable RBG! Ruth was saved from extreme neglect and starvation in MX and is now looking for a home that will continue to work with her some insecurities and be her pack leader. RBG is potty trained, crate trained and is an extremely quick learner. She is a pleaser and food motivated which is making her training easy and successful. In the house, she is balanced, well behaved and a HUGE snuggle bug. Outside the home the unknowns can lead to some insecure behavior, namely leash reactivity. Ruth needs help with impulse control on the leash and slow, controlled introductions to other dogs. This sweet love bug is a very high energy working breed; she will need her physical and mental energy needs met daily. At approximately 9 months old RBG is still a goofy, playful puppy and a perfect age to continue the training she's begun. She is a tall, lean 24 pounds and still needs a couple more pounds for her ideal weight. Her foster family loves her affectionate snuggles and silly, playful personality. RBG is looking for a home with a yard and owners with working breed dog knowledge and a commitment to training. We are recommending a home without small children or cats. Ruth would also do well in a home with a slightly older, confident, playful canine companion. If rescuing a dog is important to you, look no further; creating a bond with Ruth through leading and training and watching her transformation will be truly rewarding for both of you. If you are looking for a potential running partner, hiking dog or agility performer with a fun, sweet, affectionate personality RGB is your girl! show less

If you're looking for a spunky puppy with a lot of moxie, Gypsy may be the pup for you! Gypsy came to us from our rescue partner in Mexicali where she was rescued from the streets at about 5 months old. Now, at 6 months, this lab/shepherd mix is about 16 pounds, and will probably grow a bit more before she reaches adulthood (most likely around 30 pounds is our guess). Gypsy's favorite activities include rough-housing with her bigger foster siblings, playing with toys, and running in the yard. She is good with adults and children, is crate trained, and almost potty trained. She has exhibited some separation anxiety and may whine initially when left alone, especially if she has not had enough exercise to tire her out. She will do best in an active home where there are either kids or other dogs to play with, and where she can get plenty of exercise. If you are interested in meeting Gypsy, please fill out an application on our website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch, show less

Meet sweet Bibi. Bibi and her siblings came to us from Mexicali and quickly her two brothers became sick with parvo. Luckily Bibi and her sister have continued to be healthy, and the boys are on the road to recovery. At 12 weeks old Bibi is ready to find her forever family and start her training. This adorable pit bull/lab mix is completely deaf but that doesn't stop her. She loves playing with her toys and her human and canine foster brothers. She is a perfect mix of puppy energy and nap the afternoon away. She can be mouthy but corrects easily and even does well with the 1 year old toddler in her foster home. She is almost crate trained, working on potty training, and her foster mom is starting to work on leash walking. Bibi has learned sit, how to make eye contact for treats and at meal time, and she is working on come, all through hand signals! She is very smart and food motivated so training her is easy and fun! She is curious, fearless, and loves people and dogs. She does like to bark at the cat in her foster home so she might not be great with a cat in her forever home. If you have experience with a deaf dog, or you are up for the challenge of training Bibi through hand signals please fill out an application on our website and her adoption coordinator will be in contact. show less

Pickles was found wandering by himself in a municipal garbage dump in Mexicali at just 10 weeks old. We don’t know his exact breed, he looks a bit Dalmatian, a bit Pit Bull Terrier, a bit Lab, so we can expect him to be anywhere between a medium to a large size dog. What we do know from his foster family is that Pickles has a very sweet and friendly nature; he is truly a great dog all around. He loves to meet and play with all humans and dogs and to cuddle with his foster family. He also does well with young children and cats. He loves to wrestle with his foster canine brother many times a day but also enjoys exploring on his own and taking naps. Pickles is also clever and obedient! He mastered potty training in just a few days and learned to sit, give paw and stay. He is very food oriented and loves to learn new tricks to get his treats! He loves to please and therefore he is easily redirected if he nibbles or chews something he shouldn’t. He enjoys going on walks and is doing well learning not to pull on his leash. He is crate trained, sleeps all night and even lets his foster family sleep until 9-10 am in the weekends! Bottom line he is a great dog and we can’t wait to find him a great forever family! If you would like to meet Pickles please fill out an application at www.TheRescuedDog.org and his adoption coordinator will be in touch. show less

Meet sweet, adorable Pongo! Pongo is the poster-child for canine resilience: based on his zest for life, you’d never know that he is both deaf and missing a leg! He came to us from Mexicali, where a car had struck him, necessitating the amputation of one of his back legs. After he spent some time in his new foster home, we realized he is also deaf. Despite all this, Pongo loves to run and play, and always has a smile on his face. His big, expressive ears let you know what he wants, which is often to chew on his favorite Nylabone. He is both crate and house trained and good with both dogs and people. Like a typical puppy, he can be very mouthy, so we don’t recommend him for a home with small children. He will need work learning to walk on a leash, as he has spent much of time so far on crate rest, and doesn’t really know what to do on leash (as of now he just tries to chew it off). Pongo is about 25 pounds at 23 weeks old, and we expect he will get just a little bit bigger. He will need some special love and care to meet his needs as a deaf tripod. If this sounds like the kind of home you can provide (for a sweet dog with some special needs), please fill out an application and an adoption coordinator will be in touch. show less
