Sweet Sammy came to The Rescued Dog from Devore. Sammy is a charming 3-year-old yorkie-poo mix who loves to snuggle with his human buddies. Sammy also gets along with his canine foster sibling, and does well with other dogs in social settings. Sammy loves a good walk but is not overly active. Taz is a sweet and silly corgi-spaniel mix who came to TRD from the Humane Society of Imperial County. Taz is about 5 months old as of March 2016, and he already has a lot going for him! He is good with dogs, cats, and kids. He is smart and learning new good behaviors every day with his foster family. His foster family reports that he is very playful, sweet, calm, and cuddly. Taz has a real twinkle in his eye, and can be very goofy! Taz does have great manners for a puppy, especially around food. He knows to sit and wait patiently to be fed. He also takes treats very gently. Taz has been a potty training super star and doesn't have accidents as long as he is on a consistent potty schedule. Taz already has the hang of crate training, and sleeps through the night in his crate. This little guy is in great shape and ready to make his forever family happy! Our girl Sapphire is a true gem! Sapphire came to TRD from the Humane Society of Imperial County. She is an adorable petite (46-pound) golden retriever. She is a smart girl, and already has many commands under her belt, including sit, come, down, and shake. She is eager to learn more with her new forever family! Sapphire is about 4 years old as of February 2016, which is an amazing age for a dog to be adopted. Sapphire is past all the silly puppy stuff but she has plenty of years of life and love to give. And her petite size makes her perfect for many different living situations. Sapphire is a social girl, and loves meeting new dog friends on her walks. Sapphire does well with other dogs at the dog park and at events. However, when she is at home, she prefers to have her people and her space to herself. so we think she will do best as an only dog. Feisty and fearless, our awesome puppy Grace came to TRD from the Humane Society of Imperial County. Grace is just a young pup, but she already has several commands under her belt, including "sit", "come" and name recall. She is a smart girl who would love to learn more with her forever family. Grace has been working on her potty training and her crate training, and she is well on her way to mastering both. Grace also loves to play with her canine foster brother, and is not intimidated by his size, even though he is twice as big as she is! Once the action is over, Grace is quite the snuggle bug with her human friends. She is sweet and affectionate and ready to warm some laps. Sweet Sammy came to TRD from the Humane Society of Imperial County. Sammy is is a fun and affectionate basset hound who loves going on pack walks and playing in the yard. Sammy has not had a lot of guidance on the leash, so she pulls a little, but she is a quick learner and gets better with her leash manners every time she goes out. Sammy currently lives with another TRD foster dog, Crosley, and they get along great. Sammy's foster mom reports that she is fun and playful and has a great personality. Sammy is house trained and has almost mastered her crate training. At 2 years young as of February 2016, Sammy is at the perfect age to start a new life with her forever family. And at about 35 pounds, Sammy is a great size for almost any living condition. And did we mention that Sammy is a lover? Fun and flamboyant Bernadette (Bernie for short) is a whirlwind of activity and affection. Bernie came to TRD from the Humane Society of Imperial County, and we believe that she is the sister of TRD alum Penny. She is a funny cattle dog mix with a snub nose that seems very Boston terrier-like. Bernie currently lives with other dogs and a cat. She loves to romp with her canine brothers. While she likes to chase the cat a little, she responds well to corrections. Bernie is good with children, but given her energy and her puppy-like exuberance, we recommend she goes to a family with older children. Bernie is active and will need a family who understands her need for activity and stimulation. Experience with the cattle dog breed would be a plus. Bernie is extremely smart and will respond well to training. She is also extremely affectionate and will fill her forever family's days with laughter, love, and a whole lotta action! Bernie is about 11 months old as of February 2016 and weighs in at about 25 pounds. She may gain a little more before she is fully grown, but not too much. Our handsome little spaniel mix Wiley came to The Rescued Dog from the Humane Society of Imperial County. Wiley is a sweet and affectionate guy who loves people (especially kids!) and other dogs. He is a smart little guy and he knows how to adjust his play style to his canine companions'. Wiley has learned a few new skills in his short time with TRD, including name recall. He also has a fun trick! He can stand on his back legs and and spin in a circle. Wiley is crate trained and is working hard on his potty training. Meet sweet Ella, who came to TRD from Hope for Paws in LA. Hope for Paws rescued Ella off of the mean streets of LA and wanted Ella to have the benefit of a loving and stable foster life while she waits patiently waits for her forever family. TRD was happy to oblige for a sweet and loving girl with such a rough start. At home with her fosters, Ella is a complete love bug. If you are looking for a low-key snuggler, look no further--Ella is your girl. Her foster family reports that she spends plenty of time taking naps on the couch "in the most hilarious positions". While she is a champion snuggler and napper, there is nothing Ella loves more than to play with squeaky toys and go for a good walk. She gets very excited when she sees the leash come out! She is good on the leash and loves to explore the nooks and crannies of her neighborhood. She is a great combination of calm in the home and energetic when she's out and about. Because of her rough start, Ella does have trouble trusting new dogs, though she has been fully integrated in her foster family's "dog pack." With some gentle but firm leadership from her people, Ella's fear can be managed, and over time, with consistency and patience, we expect that Ella can become confident and more self-assured with other dogs. Ella is crate trained and house trained, and has already picked up on sit, come, and name recall. At a year and half old as of October 2015, Ella is at a great age to start her life with her forever family. And at 12 pounds full grown, Ella is a perfect size for almost any living situation. Gigi is a sweet and silly doxie-beagle mix who came to TRD from Humane Society of Imperial County (HSOIC). She came to that shelter as a stray, very pregnant, and had her 2 puppies Alicia and Lianne within days of being taken in at HSOIC. HSOIC asked TRD to take Gigi and her 2 puppies, and how could we refuse? Gigi is a delightful little girl. She has been a very good momma to her puppies and now deserves a life of being loved and cared for herself. Gigi loves a good walk and will be happy to accompany her new forever people on any adventure. She also loves a good wrestle romp with her canine foster siblings. Gigi has a wonderful playful side and always has a little twinkle in her eye. This funny girl will fetch anything! And she loves toys, especially toys she can chew on! Pint-sized Snoopy was found in a box by a dumpster in San Diego. She was under 8 weeks old and already had a bad case of mange. A Good Samaritan scooped her up and asked TRD if we would take her in. Of course we couldn't say no, and Snoopy became a TRD dog. Two months later, Snoopy is a healthy, happy handful of a puppy who loves playing with her foster brother lab. She also loves playing with and chasing her feline foster siblings. Snoopy gets along great with everyone, and loves all people. She is good with kids. She is small so respectful children would be a must for Snoopy's forever family. When we first rescued Snoopy she was about 2.5 pounds. At about 3 and a half months old as of mid December 2015, Snoopy is up to a whopping 5 pounds. We believe that she will be about 10 pounds when she is full grown. In the meantime, Snoopy makes up for her small stature with her big, beautiful personality. She is fun and spunky, but is also a champion snuggle bug and will make a great lap dog. Snoopy is already crate trained and has just about mastered her potty training. She is smart and knows "come". She is excited and ready to learn more basic training. Good golly Gunnar! Gunnar is all puppy pudge, weighing in at a healthy 17 pounds at approximately 15 weeks old as of mid-January 2016. Gunnar was found abandoned in San Diego over the Christmas holidays. This brave, handsome, and bright-eyed boy is quite popular with the ladies, children, and other canine companions. He walks well on a leash, which is a huge bonus for this a pittie puppy. Gunnar's lovable and eager-to-please personality and age makes him easily trainable. In fact, he has a solid understanding of the command “no” and has a great name recall ability. It would be beneficial to provide this chubby and clumsy pup with lots of chew toys to keep him occupied. He is also semi-potty-trained, crate-trained, and non-territorial of his surroundings. Liane and her sister Alicia came to TRD from Humane Society of Imperial County (HSOIC) with their mom Gigi when they were just 3 days old. Gigi had come to that shelter as a stray, very pregnant, and had her 2 puppies within days of being taken in at HSOIC. HSOIC asked TRD to take Gigi and her 2 puppies, and how could we refuse? Liane is the bigger of the 2 puppies and she is fearless. She was the first to explore her way out of the pen and away from her mom. She is also very fond of naps. He and his brother Frank are good-looking lab-shepherd mixes who have already picked up a few basic commands, and are ready to learn more with their new families. They enjoy each other's company but do not have to be adopted together. They are social guys and would be great either as a second dog or on their own. At 12 weeks old as of the end of December 2015, Rusty and Frank are at a great age to train and grow with their forever families.
