Meet Rogue! This sweet girl is all love with a whole lot of boxer energy. She came from a litter of puppies we were asked to help with from Rosarito Mexico. She is almost 4 months old, great with dogs, fully crate trained, and almost potty trained. She is very curious, loves to snuggle with dogs and her humans, and can be nervous with loud noises. Rogue is very food motivated so training with her will be easy. Given her energy level and excitement around people she will do best around kids who are a little older. Rogue will need a very active family and maybe a doggie playmate to help her burn energy. If you would like to meet Rogue please fill out an application and an adoption coordinator will be in contact. show less

This pint sized cutie is Nala, she is 3 months old and all of 5 pounds! Nala is a sweet girl, energetic, and loves to eat above everything! She also loves to cuddle anytime her foster family slows down in the house! She’ll ask to go on your lap and sleep in a little ball! She is a bit stubborn but she is very smart so with time and maturity she will for sure be able to learn everything that her family wants to teach her! She doesn't love the crate but sleeps through the night on her puppy bed. Nala is still working on potty training and she is a mouthy little puppy but redirects to toys well. Because she likes to nibble on her people we think a home with older kids will be best. She is good with dogs and cats, likes to walk but at some point she will ask to be carried like the princess she is! She knows what she wants and is so cute she can usually get it. She will need a family who is home more than not so they can work on her basic training. If you would like to meet Nala please fill out an adoption application and an adoption coordinator will be in contact. show less

Meet Taquito, an adorable 5-month-old dachshund/chihuahua mix who came to us from Mexicali, where he was rescued off the streets as a puppy. Taquito's interests include playing with a ball or his stuffed toys and going for walks. As a puppy, he still needs a little practice walking on a leash, but he enjoys the exercise. He is crate-trained, and is working on potty training (he is still young and will need a little more training in this regard). He is good around cats, but he has not been around other kids yet, so he would need to be tested to see how he does. If you are interested in meeting Taquito, please fill out an application on our website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch, show less

X-Puppy Storm came to us from Mexico. Mom was a lab mix rescued from the streets. At 12 weeks old Storm is crate trained, almost potty trained, and working on her leash walking. Her foster family says she is very smart and sweet, playful and energetic. She is good with dog and kids but we don't know how she is with cats yet. Storm would love an active family who is ready to work on her basic training and who can keep her smart mind engaged. She loves to cuddle, is playful with kids and dogs but needs to learn to be gentle, for this reason we think she will do best with older kids in the home. If you would like to meet Storm please fill out an adoption application and an adoption coordinator will be in contact. show less

The lovely Layla came to us from the streets of Mexicali. This gorgeous girl is a year old, 30 pounds, great with dogs, people and kids but we aren’t sure how she would do around cats. She is potty and crate trained but she is used to having other dogs in the home when the humans are away. Layla loves daily walks and is working to learn the concept of a leash, it’s all new to a street dog! Layla is such a lover, she hops and smiles when you come home and can’t wait to wake you up with kisses in the morning. She’s mellow, follows other dogs cue, and has excellent house manners. Because she was on the streets with a companion dog and her separation anxiety when truly alone, we think Layla needs a home with another pup to help her feel more secure and confident. If you would like to meet sweet Layla please fill out an adoption application and an adoption coordinator will be in contact. show less

Meet Patrick, a spunky young terrier mix from Mexicali! Patrick was saved from a life on the streets by one of our rescue partners in Mexico, who made him healthy and happy and ready to come here to us in San Diego. Since then he has been living in a foster home with another dog, with whom he plays and snuggles regularly. He is good with dogs, cats, and kids alike, loves his human companions and would love as much attention and affection as he can get. He also likes treats and playing with toys, especially ones he can chew. At about a year old, he still has quite a bit of puppy energy, and will do best in a home where he can play and get his wiggles out before cuddling up with his humans. He is potty-trained and crate-trained. He needs a little bit of practice walking on a leash, but he loves walking and getting exercise. If you think Patrick might be the dog for you, please fill out an application on our website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch. show less

If you are looking to add a sweet and adorable chihuahua to your family, Raven may just be the girl for you! Hailing from Mexicali, Raven came to us from one of our rescue partners south of the border who saved her from a life on the street. We estimate her to be about ten months old, and she certainly has some of that playful energy typical of a young dog. She enjoys playing with her ball or her stuffed toys, as well as with the other dogs in the house. She also enjoys going for her daily walk. Her foster family reports that she was quick to learn a few commands, and that she has mastered crate and potty training. She is good with kids and other dogs, and she is generally playful and happy at all times. At 13 pounds she is the perfect size to cuddle up next to you on the couch. Raven would love a home where she can get all kinds of affection and play time. If you are interested in meeting Raven, please fill out an application on our website and one our adoption coordinators will be in touch. show less

Get ready to have your heart melted by this cuddly, goofy, adorable little pup named Charlie Brown! Charlie was one of the Peanuts litter from a rescue partner in Mexico. According to his foster family he is confident, easy going, and playful, and loves to relax next to his human and dog companions. He likes to chew on his favorite toys and play tug-of-war, and play with his canine foster siblings in the backyard. He is almost crate and potty-trained, and he gets along with other dogs, cats, and kids. He still needs a little work walking on a leash, and as a young puppy, he is still inclined to chew on things he shouldn't, but he is easily redirected with one of his toys. At almost four months old he weighs 26 pounds, and we expect he will get to be about 60-70 pounds when full grown. He will do best in a home with either other dog companions, or humans who are home much of the time, as he is most content when he has company. If you are interested in meeting Charlie Brown, please fill out an application on our website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch. show less

Beautiful terrier mix Evelyn came to TRD from an unfortunate hoarding situation. She is a unique beauty with amazing coloring and a low-maintenance, low-shed coat. Evelyn was under-socialized and fearful when she came to TRD, but she has an inner moxie that has come through. Evelyn has shown signs of having happy attachments to her foster family, and seems to be good with other dogs. She is starting to show us her playful side, and at a recent adoption event she met new people and new dogs and did well. She lives in a foster home with two other dogs and does well with them. Being with other dogs seems to set her at ease. She has appeared overly interested in cats during her early days with us, so we recommend a home with no feline friends. Evelyn warms up slowly to people, but she does get there. Given her general skittishness, we will recommend that she go to a quiet home with older children. Evelyn is very smart and has figured out her routine at her new foster home quickly. She is crate trained and house trained, and is sure to pick up any new skills her forever family wants her to learn. At 50 pounds, Evelyn is an ideal size for most living situations. Evelyn is 4 years old and has a lifetime of love to share with her new forever family. If you would like to meet this special diamond in the rough, please fill out an adoption application on the TRD website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet. show less

According to her foster family she is confident, affectionate, and playful, and loves to relax next to her human and dog companions. She likes to chew on her favorite toys, splash in the water, and play with her canine foster siblings in the backyard. She is potty-trained, and she gets along with other dogs, cats, and kids. She especially enjoys being with her foster mom. She can be a little shy at first but once she’s comfortable with you, she shows her true personality! She’s intelligent and picks up training and tricks with ease. Sally is very loyal to her human and prefers to have them nearby as much as possible. She still needs a little work walking on a leash, and as a young puppy, she is still inclined to chew on things she shouldn't, but she is easily redirected with one of her toys. Are you looking for a snuggle buddy? Ursula may be the puppy for you! She is 4 months old and the perfect mix of spunky puppy and snuggly nap partner. She is crate trained, but she doesn’t love it, working on her potty training, and loves everyone she meets. Ursula is very food motivated so training will be easy. She would love a doggie companion but she is good at entertaining herself with toys. Ursula has a DNA test pending, we are guessing she’s a pug or boxer mix, but whatever she is, she is 100% adorable! If you like to meet Ursula please fill out an adoption application and her adoption coordinator will be in contact. show less

Hi! I’m Aspen. As you can see from my pictures I’m adorable. You’d probably never suspect I was a stray and was saved from Riverside shelter where I was almost euthanized because I had a broken pelvis. The Rescued Dog got me right to an orthopedic surgeon to repair my injuries; I got a brand new hip and I feel fantastic now! My future forever family should know though I may need more orthopedic care later in life. I am only a year(ish) old and a slim 30 lbs. I have tons of puppy energy and behavior still- it’s probably because I’ve never lived with humans or had to listen to them, so my foster mom is trying to help me become a good listener (it’s hard work). So far I’ve never met a dog I don’t like but when I’m on a leash and see a dog I sort of freak out so my mom is trying to help me focus and remain calm. (She says I’ll need focused and consistent work with this) My forever family should know that I do like to play a lot, so if you have another dog they better be playful. I also love to snuggle and I love affection. I love car rides, I don’t mind baths, I’m potty trained, crate trained and I’m sweet as pie. Also, not trying to toot my own horn but, I am super smart. I learned “sit” in like one second. Please know though, I do need a lot of interaction, mental stimulation, training and physical exercise to become the best pup for you!!! If you think you will love me as much as I’ll love you we should meet. show less

In his foster home, Bam Bam has enjoyed playing with other dogs in the yard, and occasional trips to the dog park. He likes to play fetch with a ball, and is energetic in the presence of other playful dogs. During down-time, he is happy to be calm and lay by himself for a snooze. He can be nervous meeting new people for the first time, but he is quick to warm up. He is good with adults and children alike. Bam Bam is crate-trained and potty-trained. He currently weighs 25 pounds at six months old, and we expect he will grow to about 40 pounds.
