Looking for a dog with fur as white as snow and a heart sweeter than a candy cane to make your holidays merrier? If yes, Jean Grey is the dog for you. Jean is a 1 year old Great Pyrenees / Cattle Dog mix who is full grown at about 30 lbs. Jean Grey is joyful in every way. She is timid but warms up pretty quickly in a new home and is great with dogs. She enjoys playing with her toys and happily prances around her foster mom's backyard. What is Jean's favorite activity, you ask? Belly rubs- she loves to flop down and demands impromptu belly rubs from her family. Prior to her rescue, Jean was most likely a backyard dog and her foster family has worked on getting her socialized with humans. Although she has made strides of progress, she spooks easily around new people and will need calm patience from her people. She is crate trained and potty trained. Crate training is essential as Jean Grey can get into mischief. She is working on leash walking and this will be an ongoing task in her forever home. Given her quirks, Jean will thrive in a home with another confident dog but she can do well on her own too, and she will do best in a home with a yard. Like most dogs of her breed, Jean is extremely smart and training her should be a fun for her forever family. If you would like to meet Jean, please fill out an adoption application and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet. show less

Meet Ruby Doo! Ruby, along with her brother Scooby, were originally rescued by one of our dedicated volunteers when the puppies were thrown into her yard. We think the human trying to get rid of them was aiming for the canyon next to our volunteer's backyard and missed. Thankfully they landed right where they should have, with US! We brought them to Chula Vista animal control, and once their hold period was up, we officially made them TRD dogs. Scooby has been adopted and now it's Ruby's turn! Ruby is an awesome puppy. She is smart and playful, and very affectionate. She gets along well with everyone she meets, whether it's a human, dog, or even cat. She's a lover, and she doesn't care who knows it! Ruby has pretty much mastered her crate training and her house training, and is ready to work on her life skills with her new forever family. Ruby would be happy to be with another dog or on her own as an only dog, as long as she has plenty of love and interaction coming from her humans. Ruby weighs in at around 20 pounds at 13 weeks old, which means she will be on the bigger side for a doberman, somewhere in the 80 pound range, as an adult. If you would like to meet Ruby, please fill out an application on the TRD website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet. show less

Meet Zuzu, because It’s A Wonderful Life! Zuzu is a young, spunky girl who is super sweet and energetic! Her foster mom reports that she is such a good girl and so willing to please. Her favorite place to be is next to her humans. She loves cuddles and to give you every ounce of love she has. She loves every person she meets and greets them with a wiggly butt. Zuzu gets along great with children and other dogs. Little dogs are her favorite. She lives with another dog and they get along great. She also lives with 2 cats. She is still working on a leash walking. She is crate trained and goes in without a problem. Car rides are not her favorite (she sometimes gets car sick). She would love another dog to romp around with, and she would also love a human running partner. Zuzu is allll puppy when it comes to play so will need a tolerant doggy friend. Given her long, long legs and her coloring, plus her size (she's about 25 pounds at 4 months old), we think she is a Great Dane mix. She will most likely be an extra large adult. Zuzu is a smarty pants, and already knows sit, name recall, and come. She is working on lay down and stay. If you are looking for a loving, sporty friend, Zuzu might be your girl! If you would like to meet Zuzu, please fill out an application on the TRD website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet. show less

Are you looking for a fun and goofy buddy to go with you on runs, hikes, and all of life's adventures? Meet Wade! Wade is a lovable lab mix looking for a family who will appreciate his exuberance and energy. Wade is a handsome little fellow, and weighs in at a perfect 35 pounds. Wade is about 1 year old as of November 2018, and appears to not have a lot of worldly experiences in his young life. He has a great zest for life though, and a willingness to learn what his humans want to teach him. Wade has already learned his house training skills, and is crate trained. Wade still has some residual puppy mouthiness that his foster family has been working on, and he can sometimes be leash reactive with other dogs. He has been working on these skills with his foster family, and has been making a lot of progress. Wade's adoption comes with a complimentary training session with TRD's trainer to make sure he and his new family stay on the right track with his training. This guy is definitely a diamond in the RUFF! His foster mom reports that Wade is super goofy and always has the most hilarious expression on his face when he's happy or excited. Wade is full of energy and would make a GREAT running partner. Wade loves to play, jump around, and bark at himself in the mirror. Sounds like hours of entertainment to us! If you would like to meet Wade, please fill out an adoption application on the TRD website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet. show less

Meet Moose, formerly Walnut, of the Nut litter! Moose and his siblings were rescued last July from a local shelter when their mom starting turning on her newborn litter of 9 puppies. Six of these adorable pups came to TRD at the tender young age of two weeks and were bottle fed and cared for by our amazing fosters. Moose was originally adopted out at family with a toddler, but Moose's exuberance was too much for the small human. He came back to TRD and has been living with our trainer, working on his life skills and getting well socialized. Although Moose has worked on controlling his puppy ways, we recommend that he go to a family with older children. Now at six months old as of mid-December, Moose weighs in at around 45 pounds! He's going to be a big boy full grown! Moose's mom is a beautiful German shepherd dog, and we are not sure about the dad. Some of Moose's siblings look like labs, and some look like husky mixes. One thing is for sure--they are all adorable! Moose is the wild card of the litter. He has a unique brindle coat and amazing blue eyes. Moose is very intelligent and in tune with his people. Moose is on the right track with all of his training and would love to continue working on his skills. Moose's adoption comes with a complimentary session with our trainer. If you would like to meet Moose, please fill out an application on the TRD website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet. show less
