Meet Mindy, of the Robin Williams puppies! Mindy's mom Tuesday came to TRD very pregnant. We actually thought she was more pregnant than she was when we first got her because she was so big. It turned out that Tuesday, who is a 35-40 pound beagle mix, was carrying 6 ENORMOUS puppies! The puppies look like Rottweiler or mastiff mixes. The dad was definitely a big dog! These little meatballs are 8 weeks old as of the new year and are starting to act like typical puppies. Mindy's foster mom reports that Mindy is brave and perhaps the smartest of the litter. She is very adventurous, loves other dogs and wants to play with them, and is very affectionate. Mindy would love to be adopted to an active family, maybe with another dog, but definitely with people who will spend a lot of time with her and keep her stimulated and entertained. These not-so-little chunks are 10 pounds at 8 weeks old, and will be extra large as adults. If you would like to meet Mindy, or any of the Robin Williams puppies, please fill out an application on the TRD website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet. show less

These little meatballs are 8 weeks old as of the new year and are starting to act like typical puppies. Patch's foster mom reports that Patch is the most independent of the puppies. He will often sleep alone, often finding a quiet spot in the laundry in the closet. However, Patch plays well with the his siblings. He is also a little bit of wimp when corrected by the bigger dogs (not a bad thing!) Patch is very very affectionate and pretty chill. We don't think he will necessarily need another dog at home, but he will definitely need a lot of interaction with his humans. These not-so-little chunks are 10 pounds at 8 weeks old, and will be extra large as adults. Need a medium-bodied, medium energy pick-me-up in your life? Meet Latte, of our Coffee Puppies! Latte and her siblings Espresso and Mocha came to TRD because they were an accidental litter, and the momma dog's owner was not ready to handle a litter of puppies (spay and neuter friends!) These adorable chi-terrier mixes have all the fun attributes of puppies--it's a play, sleep, eat, poop, and repeat kind of life for these guys. According to her foster mom, Latte has a very soft coat, a nice medium energy, and a very sweet face. These puppies seem pretty smart. They are working on their crate training and house training, and seem to have the sleeping through the night pretty well mastered. The puppies are 10 weeks old as of late December and each weigh in at around 5 pounds. We think that will make them on the smaller side of medium as adults--it will be fun to find out! If you would like to meet Latte, or any of the Coffee Puppies, please fill out an adoption application on the TRD website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet. show less

According to her foster mom, Mocha loves to crawl up by your neck and snuggle. She's the first of her two siblings to run out of energy and want to nap. She will sit back and observe activity quietly. She will also entertain herself occasionally. These puppies seem pretty smart. Meet Zuzu, because It’s A Wonderful Life! Zuzu is a young, spunky girl who is super sweet and energetic! Her foster mom reports that she is such a good girl and so willing to please. Her favorite place to be is next to her humans. She loves cuddles and to give you every ounce of love she has. She loves every person she meets and greets them with a wiggly butt. Zuzu gets along great with children and other dogs. Little dogs are her favorite. She lives with another dog and they get along great. She also lives with 2 cats. She is still working on a leash walking. She is crate trained and goes in without a problem. Car rides are not her favorite (she sometimes gets car sick). She would love another dog to romp around with, and she would also love a human running partner. Zuzu is allll puppy when it comes to play so will need a tolerant doggy friend. Given her long, long legs and her coloring, plus her size (she's about 25 pounds at 4 months old), we think she is a Great Dane mix. She will most likely be an extra large adult. Zuzu is a smarty pants, and already knows sit, name recall, and come. She is working on lay down and stay. If you are looking for a loving, sporty friend, Zuzu might be your girl! If you would like to meet Zuzu, please fill out an application on the TRD website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet. show less

Are you looking for a fun and goofy buddy to go with you on runs, hikes, and all of life's adventures? Meet Wade! Wade is a lovable lab mix looking for a family who will appreciate his exuberance and energy. Wade is a handsome little fellow, and weighs in at a perfect 35 pounds. Wade is about 1 year old as of November 2018, and appears to not have a lot of worldly experiences in his young life. He has a great zest for life though, and a willingness to learn what his humans want to teach him. Wade has already learned his house training skills, and is crate trained. Wade still has some residual puppy mouthiness that his foster family has been working on, and he can sometimes be leash reactive with other dogs. He has been working on these skills with his foster family, and has been making a lot of progress. Wade's adoption comes with a complimentary training session with TRD's trainer to make sure he and his new family stay on the right track with his training. This guy is definitely a diamond in the RUFF! His foster mom reports that Wade is super goofy and always has the most hilarious expression on his face when he's happy or excited. Wade is full of energy and would make a GREAT running partner. Wade loves to play, jump around, and bark at himself in the mirror. Sounds like hours of entertainment to us! If you would like to meet Wade, please fill out an adoption application on the TRD website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet. show less

The TRD team intercepted sweet Cindy Lou Who and her brother, Grinch, when a man was relinquishing them to the shelter. It was clear these 3 month-old puppies were undersocialized and had a rough start. After immediate vet care, security and patience Cindy opened up and shined as a sweet natured, playful, smart puppy. Cindy Lou Who is a terrier mix and expected to be approximately 20 to 25 pounds. She has done very well gaining confidence in her foster home with two human foster siblings and an older dog to show her the ropes. She is crate trained and continues to work on her potty training skills. Cindy would do best in a home with another dog to continue to help her build her confidence and socialization skills. Cindy will need some continued patience and guidance with leash training/walking as she can become overwhelmed and a tad frightened initially with new environments. She walks well with her canine foster sister showing her the way! Her foster family reports she is sweet natured, spunky and a huge cuddle bug! If you are interested in being Cindy’s new family please fill out an application to meet Cindy. show less

Are you looking for a snuggly, playful new best friend? Grinch could be the puppy for you! The TRD team intercepted Grinch and his sister when a man was trying to leave them at the shelter; they were just 3 months old! It was immediately obvious they had not been well socialized or well taken care of. After vet care, trust and patience, Grinch started to come out of his shell and become the playful, energetic, confident puppy he is today. Grinch is a terrier mix and expected to be approximately 25-30 pounds or so. Grinch would do great in a house with another dog so he continues to learn social boundaries with fellow canines. He is working on his potty training and his foster mom is happy to report he sleeps through the night in a crate with no accidents. True to his terrier breed, Grinch has a playful and strong personality with other dogs, while also being very human oriented, loyal and cuddly. He’ll require a family willing to do training with him continue to bring out his great qualities after his somewhat neglectful start. He currently lives with other dogs as well as older children and has been doing very well in these environments. If you would like to meet Grinch please fill out an application! show less

Meet Moose, formerly Walnut, of the Nut litter! Moose and his siblings were rescued last July from a local shelter when their mom starting turning on her newborn litter of 9 puppies. Six of these adorable pups came to TRD at the tender young age of two weeks and were bottle fed and cared for by our amazing fosters. Moose was originally adopted out at family with a toddler, but Moose's exuberance was too much for the small human. He came back to TRD and has been living with our trainer, working on his life skills and getting well socialized. Although Moose has worked on controlling his puppy ways, we recommend that he go to a family with older children. Now at six months old as of mid-December, Moose weighs in at around 45 pounds! He's going to be a big boy full grown! Moose's mom is a beautiful German shepherd dog, and we are not sure about the dad. Some of Moose's siblings look like labs, and some look like husky mixes. One thing is for sure--they are all adorable! Moose is the wild card of the litter. He has a unique brindle coat and amazing blue eyes. Moose is very intelligent and in tune with his people. Moose is on the right track with all of his training and would love to continue working on his skills. Moose's adoption comes with a complimentary session with our trainer. If you would like to meet Moose, please fill out an application on the TRD website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet. show less

Are you looking for a fun and friendly buddy to join you on all of life's adventures? Meet Clark! Clark is a sporty, handsome cattle dog-Great Pyrenees mix looking for a forever family who will keep him on the move and appreciate his zest for life. Clark is very friendly with other dogs, and has very nice dog-to-dog manners. Clark's foster dad reports that Clark is quite charming, and fun and easy to walk. Clark is around one year old and weighs in at around 35 pounds. He is still turning the corner on puppyhood, and has been known to chew on inappropriate items. His foster family is working on this, and it seems to be better when Clark is kenneled when he is left alone, and when he gets plenty of activity. Clark is good with being crated, and has pretty much mastered his potty training. If you are looking for a playful, charming guy to add to your pack, Clark might be your guy! Are you looking for a pint-sized love bug to warm your lap, and your heart? Meet Arya! Arya came to TRD when her former owner could no longer care for her. It's hard to believe anyone would give up this sweet girl. Arya is a real cuddler, and loves couch time with her foster family. She also has a bit of spunk and can be very playful! She also enjoys a good walk. Arya is about 7 months old as of December 2018, and weighs in at a diminutive 5 pounds. She may put on a few more pounds when she reaches adulthood, but she will always be a teeny little love nugget. Arya is working on her house training and has pretty much mastered her crate training too! She's definitely ready to make her new forever family very happy. Looking for a diminutive cutie to warm your lap, and your heart? Meet Alpacacino, an adorable maltipoo available for adoption from The Rescued Dog. Alpacacino is a sweet little guy, who can be a little shy with new people to start. Once he warms up, though, he is a real lover. Al lives with other small dogs and really enjoys their company. He is also very affectionate with his foster humans. Al will need a family who will be patient with his initial shyness. It will be worth it though, we promise! Al would also be best in a home without small children, as he can get nervous around them. Al is about 1 year old as of November 2018, and weighs in at around 13 pounds. This adorable dude is a diamond in the ruff! Meet Kira! She is a 1 year old Rat Terrier/Jack Russell mix rescued by TRD in September 2018. Kira is almost full grown at 12 pounds, which makes her ideal for most living situations. According to her foster mom, Kira is a sweet-natured, playful pup who just wants to be by her person's side. She loves to be with people and other dogs. She enjoys laps, snuggles, and cuddles. Kira absolutely adores children! She loves to play chase with them and loves to cuddle with them. Despite her petite size, Kira is very active and energetic. She loves walks, car rides, running, and the beach. She has become a regular at Fiesta Island and has been great off-leash. She gets along great with other dogs and enjoys the big and little dogs at the beach. Kira has great energy and would be a terrific running or hiking partner who can keep up with you. She can also entertain herself with her favorite toys like Kongs, rope and stuffed toys Kira would be a great fit for an active family that can take her to dog parks and on hikes to spend her boundless energy. She will do best in a household with other dogs. After playtime is over, Kira is a great snuggle buddy. She is working on crate training and almost house trained. Her foster family is working on her leash walking skills and basic commands and her adopters will have to continue this training. If you would like to meet this petite little Energizer bunny, please fill out an application on the TRD website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet. show less

Are you looking for a sweet senior to love on? Meet Sophie, an adorable spaniel mix TRD pulled from Riverside shelter in September 2018. Sophie is about 8 years old and weighs in at 25 pounds. When we first welcomed Sophie to the TRD family, she was not feeling well. She was sluggish and did not have much zest for life. It turns out that Sophie is in the beginning stages of heart failure, and left unmedicated, she felt pretty crummy. Once TRD got Sophie to the vet, we figured out what was going on and got her on the proper medications (which cost about $25 a month). She immediately perked up and her wonderful, loving personality started to shine through. Now Sophie is a big fan of walks, and loves a good car ride. She is social with other dogs, and at the dog park she likes to play, especially with smaller dogs. Sophie is also very contentious about her looks, and really enjoys a good brushing. Her foster mom reports that she is very sweet and calm, and only speaks up when she's hungry or needs to go out to do her business. Now that her medication has been established, Sophie has a lot of love and life left to share. If you would like to meet Sophie, please fill out an application on the TRD website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet. show less

Look who came zooming into TRD all the way from the County Shelter in Riverside! It's Wally West a.k.a. The Flash. Wally is an 8-month-old dachshund-terrier mix puppy, currently weighing in at 10 pounds. He should be around 20 pounds full grown. Like his namesake, Wally is an ultra-fast puppy with lots of energy. He loves to run and romp around in his foster mom's backyard. He is great with dogs and spends his day wrestling with his canine foster brother. He is also respectful of the cat in his foster home (although given his interest in her initially, we are not sure we'd call him totally "cat friendly"). Like most puppies, Wally loves to play with all toys, including his Kong, bones, and squeaky toys. Being the Flash is hard work, and Wally enjoys long naps after play time. He is already crate trained and sleeps in his crate all night. His foster family is teaching him house training rules and he is making progress everyday. He also knows the Sit command. Wally will be ideal for a family wanting to add a puppy to their pack. He has all the adorable and quirky antics typical to puppies. His forever family will have to continue to train him on house rules and leash training but training this smart puppy should be a fun challenge. If you would like to meet Wally, please fill out an application on the TRD website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet. show less

Meet Cruz and his adorably ridiculous under-bite. Cruz is a 1-year-old Boxer-Terrier mix rescued by TRD in October 2018. He is almost full grown and weighs about 30 pounds. Cruz is a smart, sweet-natured, and easy-going puppy. Within a couple of weeks in his foster home, Cruz has mastered most house rules and charmed his foster family with his sweet nature and easy-going personality. And charming people isn’t that hard with his cute face and quirky mannerisms (also, did we mention that under-bite?) Cruz is completely house trained. He understands commands such as Sit, Come, and Fetch. He is also great on the leash. He loves going on walks in his neighborhood and hitting the dog park (he is good with other dogs). Cruz has some learning to do with crate training. He has exhibited separation anxiety when left alone. His foster family is working with the TRD trainer for this behavior and his forever family will need to continue reinforcing his training. Given his age, Cruz is still a puppy minus the trials and tribulations of raising a puppy. He will be a perfect addition to a family looking for a calm and easy-going young dog to adopt. If you would like to meet Cruz, please fill out an adoption application on the TRD website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet. show less
