Do you love a herding dog and all of their intricacies? Are you not afraid of a dog who has had a ruff life and needs to find the right humans who can give her a forever home? Ivy is that dog. She was thrown from a moving car at just 4 months old and spent a few months waiting for a rescue to give her a chance. Ivy wants nothing more than the love of her humans. She is also a big lover of animals - when she sees cats or birds she wants to PLAY with them rather than chase them, and she absolutely adores every dog she meets. She wants to be every animal’s friend! She is a very fast learner and great at keeping herself occupied by taking all of her toys out of the toy basket and running around with them. She is fully crate and potty trained, good on a leash after some initial excitement over going on a walk. True to her nature, and likely due to humans not treating her well when she was young, Ivy is overly protective in her home and can be spooked by people on walks. Ivy has had extensive training with her foster family to build up her confidence and shape new, more positive reactions to new people, and her new forever family will need to continue this training to make sure Ivy’s new habits are here to stay. Ivy has nipped/bitten people in the past so we are looking for adopters who are dog savvy and keep Ivy and those around her safe. Complimentary training sessions will be included in Ivy’s adoption to make sure she gets off on the right paw with her new family. Because of her insecurities Ivy will do best in a home without children. If you’d like to meet Ivy, please fill out an application on the TRD website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch. show less
