Meet Freddie, a loving and leggy poodle mix looking for a family who will appreciate his pro level cuddling skills and playful ways. Freddie came to TRD as an owner surrender. At first Freddie, affectionately known as Freddie Spaghetti, was a little slow to warm up to his foster family. He needed time to adjust to a new environment and a new canine foster sibling. Once Freddie decompressed in his foster home, his true, adorable colors shone through. Freddie is a lover through and through, and now happily greets his foster family with toys and "hugs". He also has been great with human house guests at his foster home. He is working on his crate training, and his place training. He'd rather be with his people but he's starting to pick up these skills. Freddie is quite the gentleman on leash, and happily and politely greets other dogs when he's out for walks. He'd love to have a canine sibling in his new forever family. Freddie also is an extremely low shedder, and now that he is on the right track with nutrition and grooming, he is a very handsome and generally low maintence guy. Freddie does get nervous with groomers and veterinarians. He will need slow and patient introductions in these settings. Freddie weighs in at 15 pounds, and is about seven years old, in the prime of his life. We are recommending a household of adults, and possibly older respectful kids, for Freddie. Hi! My name is Brownie and I’m the ultimate sweet treat. I’m a miniature poodle and weight only about 4lbs. I’m a sweet senior at 10 years old and I’d love to have a warm bed and some friendly faces to spend time with. I’m looking for a new family to enjoy life with because my previous owners weren’t able to keep me since they were having a hard time. I’ve had all of my teeth removed recently so I’m healthy again and ready to enjoy life. I may not have any teeth left but I’ve still got a great smile to share. My favorite thing to do is spend time with humans or other animals. I’ll follow you around the house and I’m happy to just quietly sit on your lap while we watch tv or go out to breweries or coffee shops. I love meeting new people and dogs- but I don’t need very long walks. Calling all lovers of white fluffy dogs! Blue is a 20-pound poodle who is about 6 years old, looking for his perfect forever home. Blue’s hobbies include playing fetch with his favorite stuffed toys, going for long walks, and getting attention from his human friends. He is full of energy, so he would love his new family to be an active one. Sometimes he gets a little lonely when his people leave the house and he may whine a bit, but eventually he settles down and waits patiently for their return. His foster family is home much of the day, and Blue would do best in a home where he is not left alone too much. He loves car rides, so he would be a great errand buddy! Meet Scott! Scott came from a Southern California shelter where he ended up as a stray. He is a scruffy handsome guy, our guess is some kind of terrier/poodle blend maybe? He is more wire haired than soft poodle coated. We haven't noticed any shedding though!! Scott is crate and potty trained, loves dogs and warms up to people quickly. He hasn't been around cats but he did meet a goat he was overly interested in so there may be a strong prey drive. Scott's foster dad says he is very respectful of the older female dog in the home and is a joy to have around. He likes to play with other dogs and loves a good walk. He's not a barker and hasn't chewed anything he shouldn't! At about a year old and 30 pounds Scott is the perfect addition to any living situation. If you’re looking for some holiday cheer, Holly Berry is your pup! She is a 3 year old, 16 pound Spaniel mix who was rescued with her sister Merry. She is affectionate, loving and as cute as can be! She likes to be around her foster family, involved in their activities. She will bark when they leave the house but stops soon after. She is vocal dog but always in a happy manner, shes got a lot to say. Her barking has decreased in the foster home with routine, familiarity & confidence. Holly Berry is energetic and would be so happy if she had a backyard to run around in. She enjoys going on walks and is practicing walking next to her human on leash. She is house trained, crate trained and sleeps in her crate all night long. She is also good around dogs but has never been around cats or kids. Who doesn’t love pasta?? Gnocchi is definitely a fluffy dumpling, as his name indicates. He is also kind of stocky, with a splash of cocky. He is very attentive to his foster human, loves to get individual attention, and will offer up cuddles and kisses. He really enjoys playing and wrestling, especially with his brother. He’s outgoing, confident and adventurous. An all around cutie pie. Gnocchi is 11 weeks old as of November 30th. Mom is a chihuahua and we think dad might’ve been a poodle mix, but that’s just a guess. We also think he may be 20-25 pounds when full grown. Hi doggie lovers. I’m a little 7 pound, 4 year old Chihuahua mix and my name is Phoebe. I was rescued from the streets with my sister, who just had a liter of puppies, so now I’m an auntie!!! I am adjusting well to a new kind of life at my foster home. I love cuddles and can not wait to find my forever family who I can love forever and ever. Exploring on my daily walks is so much fun, especially when I can make new doggie friends…cats on the other hand, I could do without. I can be shy around new people, especially men but once I warm up to you we’ll be best friends. I have mastered potty and crate training and have been left home alone for up to six whole hours, I don’t cause any problems like chewing or whining. I just take a nap and wait for them to come home. I am learning new commands and love food so that really gets me motivated. I am a very good dog and am excited to meet my forever family so that I can give them lots and lots of love! Meet Jasmine, just about the cutest puppy ever! Jasmine is about 6 months old, potty trained, crate trained and great with dogs. She takes some time getting used to new humans and young kids especially but she has warmed up to the 3 year old in her foster home. Toddlers are scary! Jasmine came from a local shelter where she spent a month with her siblings and mom who is a cattle dog mix. Based on their curly fur we suspect dad was a poodle of some sort. At 17 pounds now we think she will be about 30-35 pounds when full grown. Jasmine needs to learn that it's not necessary to bark at everything that is unfamillar but she is young and with adopters who put in the work this is an easy fix. Her foster mom is working on it! Jasmine loves to cuddle up on the couch and keeps herself occupied with toys pretty well. With cattle dog in the mix she will need a good amount of exercise and stimulation. Meet Lovable Luigi! This guy is extra special to us. He and his brother were only a couple months old when we rescued them from Mexicali as strays in horrible condition. Luigi had a couple of awful breaks in his hip and lower leg. After several vet visits and consults he had surgery to repair his hip. Luigi has spent time in a couple foster homes and they both love him so much! He is now 10 months old and weighs in at about 40lbs. He is always so happy- and he has the best butt wiggle to prove it. Sweet Luigi is crate trained, potty trained, good with dogs and kids and has pretty good leash skills too. His foster says he's pretty much perfect. Luigi needs a family that understands he will never be able to be a super active dog. He will have a forever special walk/hop/limp and too much stressful activity won't be good for his back legs. He will require a home without a lot of stairs and without any dog siblings that are high energy or rough players. He goes on 2-3 short, slow walks per day and is still doing water physical therapy too! Luigi needs a family that is committed to making sure his health and orthopedic recovery is a priority. He will give you so much more in return with his ridiculous amount of love! Meet TRD’s sweetest little fighter!!! Miss Lucy has had one heck of a road so far. We rescued this two year old, 15 pound bundle of love in horrific condition from a gnarly case of mange. She would scratch herself raw and cry in discomfort. Cuddled in PJs and wearing a cone to protect her skin, Lucy and her playful energy still shined through from day one. Just hours after being in a foster home, she played fetch and had a case of the zoomies! What we didn’t know at that time is Lucy‘s road to recovery would be long and complex. Lucy‘s mange was very hard to treat and after many rounds of medications, vet visits and specialty dermatology visits, we believe we have found some answers and begun some additional helpful treatments and her allergies are now under control! Sadly though, throughout this process Lucy had a major setback and was hospitalized for pulmonary hypertension. We did everything possible for her while she was in ICU. Lucy and her fighting personality pulled through but she will be on medication for the rest of her life for her condition. There is a chance Lucy’s lifespan will be reduced due to this diagnosis. But again- this still hasn’t stopped her!! She is a playful, cuddly, sweet girl who gets along with all humans and and dogs. Her long term foster has been absolutely amazing but it’s time for Lucy to find a forever home so we can take in more dogs that need help. Hiiiiieeee! My name is Teague and I’m a Husky! I had a rough start in this world but don’t let that fool ya, I still have alllll the energy of a Husky dawg! Toys like a ball or stuffy are OK, but my most favorite toy in the whole wide world is Devlin McDougal, my foster brother! I would love another dog in my forever home. Sit, Come, Name Recall and Fetch are my jams. I also sleep in my crate at nighttime and am good with kids, strangers and other dogs. Mic drop. Some stuff I’m still working on are potty training, being a mouthy puppy as I get through this teething thing and walking on a leash without my foster brother. One of my foster Mama’s favs about me is how photogenic I am, I’m a good listener, and I’m eager to learn…OK…that was three things! Hee hee! Even though I have cool markings and am basically a super model, I am more than just a pretty face! I need at least 90 minutes of exercise every day and that is on top of lots of doggie playtime! I did say I’m a Husky right?! My coat is thick so extreme heat is not a good look for me. I run hot! I like to run! And if I eat the wrong things I may get an upset tummy! My GI track (I think that means my tummy) is sensitive so I may need a premium diet. I’m 4 months old and 21 pounds now so will eat a lot and grow up to be 45-60 pounds! Do you like to run!? Curry is the happiest guy around! He came to us from a local shelter, is about 8 months old, crate and potty trained, and good with all dogs, people, and the toddler in his foster home! We were told Curry had swimmers syndrome, but it is more likely he has a congenital defect in his back legs. They are straight and he is unable to bend them. That doesn’t stop him though, he can run in the backyard at his foster home and he loves to wrestle with his foster siblings! We did a DNA test and he is a poodle mix, so no/low shed! He is getting his first haircut soon! At about 30 pounds now we think he will be about 35 pounds when full grown. Curry is adorable, fluffy, and sweet, his perfect home would not have a lot of stairs he needs to use daily. A yard and pup to play with would be awesome but not really necessary, he is able to keep himself entertained for hours. He has never met a toy he doesn’t love, or a SHOE! Curry is not going to be a super active dog, no long walks or hikes but we bet he could learn to be a wagon pup so he can get out and explore the world! We would love for Curry to find some humans with the ability to take him for physical therapy, a water treadmill and stretching of the legs may help with his mobility. He is a long bodied low-rider so people who understand the importance of maintaining an ideal weight for Curry will be a plus. Meet Benji! This sweet pup is the perfect mix of mischevious puppy and mellow couch potato. He and his brother were rescued from a local shelter. We don't know who mom or dad were so we are guessing he is some mix of adorable! His brother Shorty was built like a corgi, but Benji is long legged and we expext he will be in the 35-40 pound range when full grown. At almost 6 months old Benji is ready to find his forever home and start his basic training. He sleeps in a pen and is working on potty training and leash walking. We don't know anything about his background but we know he is timid in new situations and will need his new family to show him the world. Lots of socialization with people, dogs, and in new situations and he will blossom into an awesome dog! Happy Spring everyone! My name is Kiera and I’m an adorable freckle-chested Lab/Terrier mix. At nearly a year old I weigh in at a petite 35 lbs. I may not be completely grown, but close to it, so you know what you’re getting with me. I’m a pretty good catch, if I do say so myself, but if I set my mind to it, you’d never catch me. Of course, if treats are involved, who am I to refuse you the pleasure of giving me one. My favorite toys are the ones my foster Mom calls Kong, but I enjoy a good rope toy to toss around too. I’m a smart girl and know all kinds of commands like sit, stay, come, down, and off. Not so pleased with that last one, but I get it. I sleep in my crate at night now and settle down after a few minutes spent making sure my foster peeps don’t want me to join them. Also, you don’t have to worry about crating me when you leave home because word is I take advantage of nap time once you go. My perfect person or persons will appreciate my cuddles and enjoy long walks on the beach. I’d hope you would be patient with me because I’m not perfect yet. I hadn’t had the best first year until the folks at TRD found me, so I’ll still be perfecting my potty training and need to go outside often. I also didn’t get a chance to socialize with other dogs much, so I’m shy initially. Gentle introductions are my cup of tea. A new family who will watch me closely in the early days will be important since a lot of this life stuff is still new to me. I admit I’ve made a few poor decisions, like playing with the most wonderful smelling shoe I ever smelt for example. So, now that you’ve heard the good and the not so good about yours truly and I’ve wowed you with my awesomeness, let’s meet. I’m so very ready to spring into my new life.
