Giselle was named for her graceful gait and her pretty profile. Giselle is a spritely, sporty girl who will be a lot of fun for an active and loving family. This beauty came to The Rescued Dog from the Humane Society of Imperial County. Giselle is very loving and loyal with people, but she seems to be a little inexperienced in the ways of the world. She will need a confident human pack leader and would benefit greatly from an equally confident canine sibling. Giselle is very social and smart, and would make a great second (or third, or fourth) dog. She gets along great with other dogs and is also very affectionate with people, including children, once she gets to know them. Giselle is just now learning what a leash is, and how to walk properly with her pack. Giselle is a fast learner and seems to be catching on quickly to that concept, as well as basic commands. She will be fun to train! At 1 year old as of December 2016, Giselle is full grown at around 35 pounds. She is the perfect size for most living situations. Giselle is house trained and crate trained, and ready to start a new life with her forever family. If you are interested in meeting Giselle, please fill out an adoption application on the TRD website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet. show less

Attention Weenie lovers!! Meet marvelous Murphy, an adorable standard sized dachshund looking for a real forever family! Even at his young age of one year old, Murphy has been rehomed a few times through no fault of his own. He started with a military family who gave him up when they were deployed, and Murphy has since been rehomed three times within the military community. One of our fellow rescuers spotted Murphy on a message board for military families and decided it was time for Murphy to try a new route for finding his forever family. Murph is a very typical doxie, so we are looking for an adopter with experience with the breed. He barks to alert something is wrong, and loves to dig and chase. Murphy is curious, friendly, and spunky. A home with breed knowledge is a must so that his 5th home will be his forever home. Despite his inconsistent home life, Murph has a wonderful temperament, and is a very stable and happy guy. Murph needs some positive encouragement with his potty habits. He likes his privacy when he goes, most likely due to someone in his past disciplining him with a heavy hand during potty training. Murphy is a great little guy (about 23 pounds) with a huge heart. We are going to be picky about Murphy's final forever family! If you think that might be you, please fill out an application on the TRD website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet. show less

Meet Kreacher, a ridiculously cute and confident pittie trapped in a Basset hound body. Kreacher's favorite activities include chasing around his long-legged canine foster brother, playing with toys (as in ALL the toys!), and, as his foster mom puts it, "singing the song of my Basset brethren". Kreacher also enjoys a good walk and shows signs of having nice leash manners with a little training. At 10 months old, Kreacher stilll displays a lot of puppy behaviors, some hilarious, and some that his new forever family will need to work on. Kreacher can be clingy with his people, and will need to learn not to try to dominate every dog he meets. He pairs well with submissive, fun-loving dogs but may be too much for more alpha-type dogs. Kreacher still jumps up on people in his enthusiasm to say hello, and he is a strong and squat 35 pounds, so he would probably not be the best fit for a household with smaller children. Kreacher is going to be a great match for someone who wants a spunky dog with a twinkle in his eye. Kreacher will be a fun dog to train, and his goofy looks paired with his silly antics will keep a smile on the face of all of his forever humans. If you would like to meet Kreacher, please fill out an adoption application on the TRD website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet. show less
