Diesel, is a very sweet, and loving boy who just wants to give love and be loved. He is a wonderful snuggler, and extremely affectionate. He walks good on leash, and is very food motivated.  We think he would do well in just about any home setting. He is wonderful with other dogs, children and is great with cats. His ideal family would be experienced dog owners, who know the breed, and have the time to show him all the love in the world that he deserves. Diesel came to PRL, emaciated, skin and bones and was nervous at first. It only took one day for this boy to show everyone just how sweet he is! Honestly this boy is an angel. He is just full of love, and adores his people. He is great with all other dogs, cats and he LOVES children. He has been fostered in a home with small children, dogs (of all ages and sizes, ranging from 50lb 6 year old to a 10lb 2 month old puppy) and cats and kittens. Diesel is fantastic on leash, and has great recall. He is 100% fully housebroken. He is crate trained and knows basic commands like, "Sit", "Down", "No", "Off", "Come", "Drop it", and "Roll over", as well as "Paw". UPDATE ** Diesel was adopted on February 24th 2021. He lived with a small shihtzu mix, his adoptive mom, and a 9/10 year old child. Diesel has been with this family for the last 16 months. Diesel was returned to us on July 25th 2022. The adopter said he showed signs of resource guarding. We did try to give resources and advice, but ultimately they wanted to return him.  Upon the rescue getting Diesel back into our care we did another temperament assessment, and medical evaluation on Diesel.  Since being adopted 16 months ago, Diesel has gained about 15/20lbs, he is currently about 9lbs over his ideal weight, and is on a weight managment diet, as extra weight on a dog is not good for the dogs joints in the long run. During his temperament testing Diesel again excelled! When tested with children, he was phanomenal, when tested with puppies he was wonderful, playful and gentle, when tested with kittens, he was breifly curious then was completley unbothered by them. He was tested with a very dog savvy adult cat, again Diesel interacted perfectly with her. He was introduced to 3 adult dogs, one at a time and he was interested, curious, and playful and friendly with each one. He was happy to meet everyone! Diesel then was tested with men, and did well, but it was noted when the man made a sudden movement above Diesel, Diesel would wince/flinch and cower. This was noted multiple times by the evaluator, and is indicitive of a dog suffering from prior physical abuse. This behavior is a new behavior and was not noted on his original intake/temp eval back in December 2021/January 2021. When we performed the same evaluation. During his latest testing he was sweet, friendly  and accepting of the men he was tested with, only when a hand was lifted quickly or above Diesels head, did he show any signs of fear. We worked with Diesel, with positive reinforcement around men, doing sudden movements, lifting things up, and movements above Diesel, for the last 3 weeks, so we can get him to feel comfortable, and confident that he will not be hurt. Diesel is doing wonderfully. Diesel is neutered, and has had all his vaccines up dated, and retested for Heartworm. He is cleared for adoption! The perfect home for Diesel is someone who can love him, the way he loves his people. He honestly is the biggest love bug, good boy there ever was! We guarentee if you meet him you will fall in love immediately! After 2 days with him, he will steal your heart! He hasnt always had the best past, when we first got him in December 2020, we didnt know much about his past other than he was a starving stray, and very young. For the last 16 months he was in a home where he was loved, and cared for. He is currently in a foster home, where his foster family are working on confidence building and giving him all the love he needs! Diesel deserves to have the best family, be loved, and find his FURever home.    Diesel would LOVE to meet you, if you are interested in meeting him to see if he is the pooch for you! show less

Oscar has come to Paws Rescue League as an owner surrender. Oscar was purchased from a breeder, who breeds "designer" breed dogs. Oscar was is a Maltipoo, a mix between a maltese and a mini poodle. Sadly his family who purchased him 14 years ago no longer have time for him, and decided it was best for him to go to a rescue who could find the right adopter for Oscar.  Oscar is a senior, and in relatively good heath, hes had 2 dentals this year, one in Februrary when he was with his owners, and he had 1 tooth pulled, and another dental ( just a cleaning, as the vet felt his remaining teeth are healthy enough for him to keep) once he came into rescue. Oscar has had a full physical check up, and the vets feel he is in good general health, and ready for adoption. Oscar is crate trained, housebroken ( as long as hes able to go out every few hours or he will have accidents), Oscar attends day care, and he zips around the yard, playing with the other dogs as if he were 10 years younger. He loves to be the center of attention, and he is a pro at posing for pictures! He has a coat that is fur and needs to be groomed regularly or it will become matted.Oscar likes everyone, dogs, cats and kids. We do suggest a home with no young kids, so Oscar can live in a quieter home for his remaining years. He is a very happy, and sweet boy who is looking for someone to love him for the rest of the time he has, and be with him until the end. We know his perfect person is out there, and we will do everything we can to help him find his happy FURever after! show less

Levi came to Paws Rescue League as a stray from Animal Cotnrol, Levi had 3 days, per state law in TN for an owner to come claim him, or for someone to adopt him, or a rescue to save him. After 3 days if a dog isnt claimed, adopted, or rescued the dog is euthanized for space. Levi is a neutered male 9-10 month old Beagle mix (after we saved him, we found his sister who has been saved by another rescue!) Levi is currently 25lbs, he will not get much bigger than he is now, at most he could gain another 5lbs or so.  Levi is a sweet puppy, who didnt have the best start to life, he is affectionate, and loving, and likes to please his people, and be near his people. He is crate trained, but he prefers to be with you. He is good with other dogs, he should have a proper intro with male dogs. He is good with cats. He is good with kids, we suggest kids 8 years and up due to him being an oder puppy who is learning what its like to be loved and live with a family. Levi is said to be a very happy guy, who loves to play, and is just happy to be loved. Levi is house broken as long has he can go out ebery 4-5 hours. All adopters should expect accidents the first few days, while the dog figures out their new environment and routine. Once they know the routine, housebroken dogs typically stop having accidents. show less

Sasha is a Great Pyrenese/Golden mix, which is sadly a "designer" mix of dog that people breed specifically to be livestock gaurdians/family dogs in the south. Sasha was most likely bred to be sold to people with a small farm/family farm. Sasha at only about 8 months old found her self at scary animal control, she was filthy, extremely matted to the point no brushing could get the matting out. From the looks of it Sasha had been fending for herself for at the very least about a month. Thankfully for her she was picked up,and brought to animal control, where volunteers post the dogs to help find their owners, an adopter or a rescue to save the dogs before theyre euthanized. A lot of rescues will only save small breed dogs, puppies, or full bred dogs. We take in many large mixed breed dogs, where other rescues tend to pass over.  Sasha is a very loving, sweet girl, who was not given the proper love and care as a young puppy. She has been learning what its like to be a dog since she has entered rescue and living in a foster home. Sasha is very good with other dogs, she can be a little unsure at first so proper intros are best for her. She has not been cat tested, but we feel she would do best in a home without cats. Sasha is good with kids, we suggest 8 years and up due to her size, and the fact she is still very much a puppy, and can easily knock a small child over.  Sasha is fully vetted, crate trained ( although she absolutely prefers to be with her people, or dog friends), and is acing her housebreaking! show less

Ranger found himslef, and his German Shepard sibling at Animal Control in TN one morning. He had spent his first 3-4 years of life with his owner, and his GSD sibling, this was new to him. Loud barking, scared dogs, and strange people all around him, he was scared. Ranger wasnt sure what he did, why his owner left him here, he knows he was the very best boy..  Ranger wound up at a kill shelter, where dogs who are brought in by their owners have 24 HOURS to find an adopter or rescue to save them. He was there due to no fault of his own, but his owners inability to provide him a loving home. So many people get dogs, and once a dog doesnt perfrom to their standards, or no longer fits into their lifestyle, they dump them. Ranger is a very loyal, loving, sweet, and quirky boy. He is very calm, and well behaved indoors, and he walks amazingly well on leash. He knows some basic commands, is crate trained, house broken and loves his people, and doggo friends. Ranger likes to sleep under beds, or behind furniture, which is where his quirkiness comes into play!  He is a siberian husky, who is absolutely stunning, loyal and a pure love! Ranger would love a family who will give him a home for the rest of his life, Siberian Huskys live to 12-15 years, Ranger is still a young dog with his whole life ahead of him!  He would love a family with breed expreince. He would do well as an only dog, or with other dogs. He is good with kids (we suggest older children, 8 years and up, as he is a big dog and can accidentally knock a small child over) Ranger has not been cat tested.  show less

Buddy, got her name when PRL saved her from the local kill shelter, where they had listed her as a male. We found out when we got her to the vet, Buddy was a she. All of her paperwork had already had the name Buddy, so we decided to keep her name as is.  Buddy came from a cruelty case, she was in a home, where the family was not taking care of their animals, and had too many animals, and they were all being neglected.  Buddy was very shy and timid when she first came to PRL, but after a few days, when she realized she was safe, and in a good place, she opened right up! Probably the first time she got to run around freely with other dogs, and just get to be a dog! Her smile and happiness was infectious! Just one look at her now, brings a smile to all of our faces. Buddy is a sweet little girl, with a gorgeous wavy/curly coat of fur, that she gets from the yorkie-poo in her, and short stumpy legs true to the doxy in her.. She has the build of a dacshund with her long body, short legs and narrow face, and big rounded ears. She is absolutely adorable. She came to us quite matted, and needed a groom, where we tried to keep as much hair on her as possible, but she ended up needing a lot more off at the time, so she got a cute lion hair cut! Buddy is crate trained, and is fully housebroken, she is also working on learning her basic commands. She is a sweetie, who loves all the other dogs, good with people and children, but she is shy and timid at first, she needs a minute until she realizes you are safe, and a good person. We suggest children a little older, 8 years and up, who can understand to give a dog space when needed. She would fit in with many families, but we think the best home for her would be one with another dog, and older kids or no kids, and medium active family ( one who will go for walks, or small adventures to the beach, and dog park). She does take a day or two to warm up, but once she does shes off to the races! *( Buddy got her name, as when we intook her we were told she was a male, so on her vet documents, and intake paperwork she was listed as Buddy. When she went to the vet we were informed Buddy was a girl! We left her name Buddy, to avoid confusion. Buddy will be at our Summer event at Petco in Willimantic CT on 08/21/2022!
